A lot of comments about my use of the word “Biblical”. It is NOT alluding to the Bible of Christianity but rather a slang term for religious scripture. In this case Hindu scripture.

Like our Chola kings, Pallava kings, Kaakathiya kings, Kuru Dynasty, Ikshvaku dynasty are all part India’s ancestry. We go and see the places they ruled, the huge cities, universities, temples they have built .
A lot were destroyed or were lost in time but temples stayed .
It isn’t easy to know about Bharath’s history as our own country don’t have so much covered in our text books.
These movies are a small step towards re-discovering our civilisation for us.

TLDR
The story is linked to an ancient scripture called Mahabharata which is the longest text among all religious texts. It's like game of thrones but more virtuous and with an intention. There was a war which was fought between two factions in the kingdom. On the side of protagonist, there was lord krishna, an avatar of Lord vishnu. While the war was happening, there was a character named ashwathama, who deceitfully killed some people, so lord krishna cursed him that he will remain alive for thousands of years, untill another avatar of vishnu comes on earth and he would have to help him
The old bearded man you see is that character, ashwathama. In the trailer, there's a mother who is supposedly giving birth to KALKI, the final avatar of Lord vishnu, and as mentioned above, the old cursed man ashwathama is supposed to protect him.
The young guy is bhariava, a bounty hunter. We don't know what his deal is, or how he connects with the ancient story.
Watch the movie to find out. Sadly it would hit harder if people know about the mahabharat, but even then, it's still a solid watch.
That bearded guy was Aswathama and he is immortal, lord Krishna ( one of Vishnu avatar) made him immortal as a panishment 5000 years ago.
And the baby who yet to born is a avatar of lord Vishnu.

1) The city is Kashi it's in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh India, which is the Oldest and technically the 1st City of this world and going to be the last.
2) That opposite Pyramid shape thing is "Complex" there is no water left in the world except for Complex and it's beautiful from inside having trees and fountains and all. The main leader of Complex treats himself as a god is "Supreme Yaasin".
3) Kalki Avatar has not been born yet he's inside Deepika Padukone's womb, her name is Sau 80 (in Mahabharat mother of Kalki is Saumati and Lord Vishnu).
4) Prabhas as Bhairava is a Bounty hunter and he needs 1 million Units to live in Complex (Only Rich people can live in Complex) also Unit is the Measuring unit for the source of power to run the Nano technology they are using to run the weapons and the world (Unit is like Money 💰 for them).
5) As per Mahabharat we are in Kaliyuga and this movie is the end of this world Kaliyuga and a new world will start from here as Satayuga.
6) Ashwathama cursed by Lord Krishna and snatched his stone (Power source) during Mahabharat because he tried to unalive a pregnant women but in this movie by the end of Kaliyuga he got his stone back and he will save Sau 80 because she is going to give birth Kalki.
7) Bujji the A.I informed Prabhas aka Bhairava that a 5 star ⭐ bounty of 1 Million units can be received whomsoever catches Sau 80. So, Prabhas tries to catch Sau 80 to receive bounty to live in Complex and Ashwathama is trying to save Sau 80 and Kalki in her womb.
So let me tell you what all you need to know from this trailer and also about things you need to know in order to understand the movie……according to Hindu puranas (ancient Hindu texts) there are 4 yugas (something like time periods each having different no of years) and now we are in the last yuga(kaliyuga) Tollywood star Prabhas is the main hero of the film playing the role bhairava , Amitabh Bachchan as aswathdhama/the guy with glowing gem in his forehead ( who is cursed with immortality by lord Krishna who is another incarnation of lord Vishnu) and he has to protect Kalki (who is the 10th and last reincarnation of lord Vishu (one of the Hindu god) who is born into this world at the end of kaliyuga and destroy evil and spread good will and harmony. And in this movie as per what’s is shown in this trailer it’s a dystopian world where there’s a place called complex in the 1st and last city of the world(kashi) where there exits the so called supreme lord yaskin (the main villain/ kali) so kali is the main villain in this movie and it’s also mentioned in ancient Hindu text and in this movie Deepika Padukone is the mother of kalki it’s aswathdama’s job to protect her and also kali is played by kamal Hassan and I also suggest you to see and get to know about important things in Mahabharata like Kurukshetra yudham(war), who are Pandavas and Kauravas, who is karna , who is ashwathdama , who is dhronacharya, who is kalki and who is Krishna

So all the people who are new here a little context, this movie is based on Hindu mythology. So it is said that when the evil will be at its extreme a god will take birth that will destroy all evil and with him the age in which we live (Kalyuga- last age according to Hindu Mythology) will end and a new age will come Satyayug or golden age. The title of the movie Kalki is said to be that god according to scriptures. This movie has drawn inspiration on that. I would recommend to read a little about hindu Mythology and avatars to understand the movie better. The movie is a must watch.

Just a context to the movie - According to Hinduism Lord Vishnu is one of the supreme deities including Brahma and Shiva . Whenever peace and harmony ends a new incarnation of Vishnu occurs to protect earth . Vishnu have 10 avatars or incarnations out of which 9 were already born earlier and the last one whose name is Kalki which you can see through the movie name is yet to be born in a yuga or era we are living called the kali yuga which is ruled by a demon named Kali purush . At the end of the era it is believed that a war will happen between Kalki and Kali purush and he will end him and bring back humanity again . 7 immortals who were born in past are believed to train and help kalki in his war with kali. Out of the seven the olderly character shown is Aswathama who was cursed by Lord krishna an incarnation of Lord Vishnu to suffer and live with immortality till the kali yuga ends and he himself was protecting the newborn who is none other than Kalki himself inside her womb. For better understanding you have to study the war of Mahabharata and about the seven immortals and about kali yuga then you can relate it easily .
