One of the TWENTY great arias from Andrea Chenier sung with great distinction and passion by Avartuvshin . Chenier is one of those operas that the snobbish opera critics don't like. Too many "tunes" for their liking. If you have NEVER been to the opera ,Andrea Chenier along with Rigoletto , Turandot , La Traviata and one or two others , to put you in the mood to appreciate that melodic opera is as every bit as good as the very finest musicals . If not better.
Mr. Amartuvshin has a fabolous and most beautiful voice and a profound vocal technigue, but in this aria he still needs to study the pronouncation of the text - of Luigi Illica's genious libretto, but in general a fabolous Verdi & Verismo baritone and a very big vocal talent & musician. Bravo!
Finally a baritone, along with the amazing Korean Seng Hyoun Ko, who sounds like a real baritone versus his tenorish clear colleagues we can hear around ! Full, round, "juicy", mellow tone, striking top... I wish you a very successful career Mr Amartuvshin :)
This man may or may not be a Verdi baritone, but there is no doubt in my mind he is a great baritone with limitless potential. Not at all difficult to imagine him taking on all the celebrated baritone rep. ( Good God, What a Scarpia)
I love this voice so much and saw him in Melbourne a couple of years ago as Rigoletto. Was interesting though to watch the Cardiff 2021 winner Gihoon Kim sing this aria. Two very different and equally wonderfull voices but I prefer Kim's interpretation, stillness and internalised emotions
The BBC contest made itself look silly by rejecting this guy. I mean no disrespect to the winner, because he was good. But not this good. It's the BBC competition who lost.
@@eugeniogentili1048 he sounds more in the direction of George London then baritone Warren, more like a big bass baritone? Anyhow sounds like a fine voice, but I did not hear him live in house.
Not quite what I think of as a Verdi baritone. Now and then he comes across as more of a Bass with great high notes. Still I'd rather hear him sing all the great Verdi roles rather than have to hear Domingo do any more of whatever it is he's trying to do.
A very outstanding bass-baritone. That voice is rich, creamy and full and reminds me of some some great talent that was in the opera world well before I was even born. Ettore Bastianini, Leonard Warren & Sherill Milnes are 3 great baritones that come to mind; in the bass department Cesare Siepi is a formidable singer, but even Americans such as Jerome Hines, a MET stalwart back in the day deserves high mention as does NORMAN TREIGLE who, sadly, is not that well remembered in the 21st century. Wonderful rendition of NEMICO DELLA PATRIA. I love ANDREA CHENIER by Umberto Giordano. It's an opera I love very much, all the more special as GIORDANO was born in FOGGIA, ITALIA where I was born many, many decades after his passing in, I believe, 1948. It's too bad that some of his other works like FEDORA, LA CENA DELLE BEFFE, IL RE, MADAME SANS GENE and others are not in the standard repertoire outside of Italy. Giordano, in verismo, is second only to the sublime Puccini. "Grazie, Maestro Giordano, per le Sue opere incantevoli". I am a Canadian citizen born in Italy in the 1990's.
