The real main drawback of this pen is that it doesn't post. If it did, it would have been an iconic pen. As for the nib unit - it is a threaded nib (not friction fit). However, when I got my first P36 I was sure that the nib unit is glued as I couldn't take it out. A couple of months later I simply tried to unscrew it again and it came out easily. Other than the room temprature I have no idea what exactly changed. Regarding the Bock nib - I replaced it with a Bock 23k platinum nib (way more expensive than the pen...) which is far better than any Asvine nib (it is very similar to Pelikan nibs). In my opinion the Bock version is better as it opens the possibility for more nib options.
When I buy Asvine pens, I select Asvine nibs. Those are some of the best steel nibs. They’re wet, flex, and well grinded. Though quality control can be sometimes an issue but imo it’s worth buying extras. I recommend an EF or F. Really wish Chinese manufacturers can level up their QC. But I do understand that it’s difficult to invest in QC given how cheap these parts are
Thanks for the info! I would pay an extra $10 for them to check the nib and make it right. Nothing worse than getting a pen with a bad nib. Unfortunately this also happens with some very expensive pens.
I appreciate the engineering behind this pen. But, I swear, it looks like a device purchased at a Vape shop. Showed a picture of this to various people. None of them said that it was a fountain pen. Instead, they smirked that it was a Vape.
Thanks for the informative review!
Glad it was helpful!

Good to know. So it takes standard Bock nib units? Where did you get the 23k platinum nib? I know Visconti used palladium nibs in the past.

Asvine possibly makes (some of) Nahvalur and PenBBS pens, as they share a lot of parts. But it's hard to say where everything is sourced from.
Interesting. I have not experienced pens from either brand.
Amazing review, Blake! Thanks for sharing with us!
Cheers from Brazil!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I have Asvine V126 and it's my everyday pen since some months now.
You can review the V126 or V200 ( I did not try this) or both :)
Thank you for the recommendation they both look great.
I have a V126 with the Asvine medium nib and I love it.
That is a great looking pen. Which color do you have? I like the look of the frosted black and frosted clear.
@@BlakesBroadcast Frosted Black. I would have gone with frosted clear if it had silver rather than gold colored hardware.

I'll take your word for it. Perhaps they could do a combo with a pen. Wouldn't want to inhale the wrong end though.
I actually find the Asvine nibs to be bland and boring. I've replaced them in all my pens. To each their own, I guess. 🤷🏻♂
Good to know. I quite like the Bock nib on mine but am still curious about the Asvine ones.
@@BlakesBroadcast Oh for sure! They're not bad nibs and they certainly do work, but somehow I don't like them. It's very hard to quantify.
