To all of you current and prospective students - I started 1st year in 2007, holy crap that's a long time ago. Whichever discipline, stream, program you choose - Waterloo Engineering will prepare you for anything. Some of my classmates are startup founders, some have gone to the traditional engineering path - many are managers/associates/partners, others are doing something completely different. I'm working full-time and studying for an MBA program part time and 3B mech was comparable. Be prepared to have your mind completely blown, humbled, but ultimately grow and become someone you will be proud of. I hope you choose this school, I'll do it all over again even knowing how hard the road was.

Engineering department (covered in the video here) and the David R. Cheriton School of Computer Science (part of the Faculty of Math).

When applying for an undergrad program, does UW mainly look for the students' gpa in shs? Also, does club position in shs matter to be admitted in UW? By the way, Im not a canadian citizen so I'll be enrolling as an international student.

Hi there! You can read more about our admissions averages on our webpage here, uwaterloo.ca/engineering/future-undergraduate-students/application-process/admission-averages but grades are not the only defining factor in getting admitted. Each engineering student when applying also has to fill out an AIF (Admissions Information Form) where you can highlight any extracurricular activities, job experience or achievements - really let your personality shine! Here are some more details about international admissions uwaterloo.ca/engineering/future-undergraduate-students/application-process/international-secondary-school-applicants

Demonstrating employability is an asset and you'd be surprised how many students don't have a job during high school. As an added benefit, it helps to have something to put on your resume when looking for co-op jobs too!
