2004 Honda Accord V6 Won't Start

  • 2004 Honda Accord will not start. Is this the master relay, immobilizer or starter? The car just seemed to not turn over without any warning. I have heard this gurgle / ticking sound from the steering column that almost like the sound of an electronic relay. You can hear it in the video. See for yourself and see what you think. I have no idea.
UPDATE: The solution was the starter, I replaced the starter and its been A-OK since. Hope this helps.

Mine just did a similar thing twice today. All of a sudden didn't wanna start. I turned and locked the steering wheel and started right up. not sure if that's going to help you but watching your video gave me that idea thanks 🤘🎯🇺🇸🏁

It’s your ignition switch! There’s a reset button next to your shift knob. Mine is on left.. ( if not exposed) take off the cap it’s . Small hole.. you can use your key to press it Press on brake and poke that hole ( reset button) then move your shift to neutral and release your foot on brake and let it move back then press brake . Leave on neutral & Try starting your car. If it starts it’s your ignition switch..

the starter wasnt' much, maybe $100...can't remember. I will say that the rebuilit starter did die on me and I took it back in for a replacement under the warranty. Bit of a pain in the rear to do the work a second time.

Fun fact, although it looks like you've long-since solved your problem: When the immobilizer is the issue, the starter works fine, it just wont fire. Just sits there and cranks forever. Had that problem on my 2003 with the K24 engine. Other than that, stellar car, mine still runs like new with 209,000 miles!

  • @kpk33x

You were lucky. My 04 Accord transmission died at 108k miles back in 2011. So disappointing. But since the car was barely worth more in resale than a new transmission plus a 0% finance offer I traded in for over 1000 above blue book. Always good to catch dealers at the end of the month and end of model year.

I was driving and all of a sudden the car stalled on me . I tried to crank it a few times and it started and cut back off in like 5 sec and after that it hasn't started yet. After I try to crank it there is a buzzing from the ignition until I turn it back to the 1 position. Also when I turn to the 2 position the "D" gear indication comes on for a few seconds and then goes off. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated . I changed the ignition switch but that did not help.

@@user-ub8ck3fi6s I changed both the alternator and starter close to a year apart so I'm not sure which one was the problem. When it died completely without warning, it was the alternator and before I changed the starter, I had it checked at autozone and they said it was fine. Installed it again and still had problems. I had a mechanic test it and he said it was not strong enough so I changed it and it fixed the problem. Hope that helps

Took it back to Goodyear and they told me I had a "bad starter", they put another one in and the very next day it would not start again. I then took my car to Honda where they diagnosed the main fuel relay. My starter never was bad but my car has almost 130,000 on it so it probably would have needed to be done anyway. I usually alway

It's 2005 V6 accord and brought 2 days ago , all of sudden car did not start and green key shaped light flashing ,brake turned hard and no crank sound usually you get when start the car . I tried 5 -6 times and checked connections and turned on lights everything seems nice . After 10 mins i was able to start the car. But i hear some weird noise from hood , I feel something isn't right. Dealer gave only one key I assume its a second key. Main key he doesn't have. do you think the problem pertains to key ?.

We recently purchased a 2004 Honda Accord V6 for our son's first car. Several weeks after purchase we started having this problem. Our local Honda dealership was ABSOLUTELY NO HELP! After viewing this video and reading the comments, we took the car to a repair shop specializing in alternators, starters, and electrical wiring. They suspected something had gone bad within the starter, and less than 24 hours later the car was fixed for about $169. They did not replace the whole starter, just replaced/repaired various parts within it. We just got it back yesterday afternoon, so time will tell. Hope this helps someone.

@@jessicawhite6729, wow, it was so long ago! If I remember right, sometimes it would start and sometimes it wouldn’t. It was really random.

If I could fix em over the web...I wouldn't have to go to work, but seriously folks find yourself an honest mechanic. Believe it or not we're not all crooks. Try small independent shops when the guy (or gal) you talk to owns the place

Older honda are a pain in the ass compared to older Toyota. Wouldn't recommend buying one.

My gf had the same problem with her 2007 Honda Accord V6. You turn the key and nothing happened except the dash lights turned on. We had to replace the refurbished starter with a brand new one and it started up just fine. She learned a valuable lesson, NEVER buy refurbished car parts. Lol.
