Sýkora koňadra je malý druh pěvce z čeledi sýkorovitých. Je největším a nejrozšířenějším evropským druhem sýkor.
Popis
Délka: 13,5-15 cm
Váha: 14-23 g
Leskle černá hlava.
Bílé tváře a příuší.
Černá barva pokračuje na náprsenku a zužuje se do pruhu, který se táhne přes břicho (u samice je tenčí a často přerušený).
Hřbet je zelený, křídla modrošedá s bílou křídelní páskou, spodina žlutá a ocas modrošedý s bílými stranami; černý pruh na břiše bývá jen naznačen.
Zobák je silný, kuželovitý a hnědošedý, nohy šedé a duhovka hnědá.
Mladí ptáci jsou matnější, mají žlutavé skvrny na tvářích bez úplného spodního černého okraje.
Hlas
Proměnlivý hlas, volání je rytmické. Dodržují rytmus, ale sled, výšku a počet tónů obměňují a vytvářejí řadu variant.
Průměrný samec má 32 - 40 různých hlasových projevů.
Nejčastější vábení je „tví-tit“ a varování „citerr“.
Zpěv (již od konce zimy) je hlasitý, melodický a každý motiv je opakován 2× až 3×.
Hašteření "če-če-če-če".
Výskyt
Palearktické rozšíření - od Irska po Kamčatku a jihovýchodní Asii, Malajsii a Indonésii.
Zvláště listnaté a smíšené lesy, žije i v jehličnatých porostech, remízcích, sadech, zahradách, parcích i v zeleni vnitřní městské zástavby.
Život
Hnízdí jednotlivě, teritoriálně a monogamně, vzácně i bigamicky.
Přirozeně hnízdí v dutinách stromů, ale běžně obsazuje hnízdní budky a řadu jiných míst (hromady dříví, kovové trubky, dutiny zdí, stará hnízda strak a veverek atd.).
Hnízdo staví samice (mech prokládaný trávou, kořínky a lišejníky, rostlinné chmýří, srst a někdy peří).
Hnízdí 2x ročně od dubna do července.
Snůška čítá obvykle 8-12 bílých, červenohnědě skvrnitých vajec o rozměrech 17,6 × 13,4 mm.
Délka sezení je 12-17 dnů; sedí samice. Mláďata se líhnou během 1 až 3 dnů, jsou krmena oběma rodiči a hnízdo opouštějí po 17-23 dnech.
Potrava
Hlavní složku tvoří hmyz a pavouci.
Na podzim a v zimě vyhledává semena.
Někdy oštipuje dužnaté plody dřevin, pupeny a listy, pije nektar a požírá drobné plže.
Ojediněle jsou známy případy kanibalismu a požírání jiných druhů pěvců nebo netopýrů.
Dospělí ptáci mohou mláďata krmit i více než 800× denně, čímž úspěšně regulují výskyt případných hmyzích škůdců.

The great tit (Parus major) is a passerine bird in the tit family Paridae.
Description
Length: 12.5 - 14.0 cm (4.9 - 5.5 in)
Weight: 14 - 23 g (0.49 - 0.81 oz)
Bluish-black crown, black neck, throat, bib and head.
White cheeks and ear coverts.
Bright yellow breast with black mid-line stripe running from the bib to vent.
Dull white spot on the neck turning to greenish yellow on the upper nape.
The rest of the nape and back are green tinged with olive.
The wing-coverts are green, the rest of the wing is bluish-grey with a white wing-bar.
The tail is bluish grey with white tips.
The plumage of the female is duller and the line running down the belly is also narrower and sometimes broken.
Young birds are like the female, except that they have dull olive-brown napes and necks, greyish rumps, and greyer tails, with less defined white tips.
Voice
Up to 40 types of calls and songs.
The calls are generally the same between the sexes, but the male is much more vocal.
Soft single notes such as "pit", "spick", or "chit" are used as contact calls.
A loud "tink" is used by adult males as an alarm or in territorial disputes.
Very familiar is a "teacher, teacher", which is used in proclaiming ownership of a territory.
Habitat
All of Europe except for Iceland and northern Scandinavia, including numerous Mediterranean islands.
It also occurs in North Africa, the Middle East, and parts of Central Asia, as well as across northern Asia from the Urals as far east as northern China.
Open deciduous woodland, mixed forests, forest edges and gardens. In dense forests, including conifer forests it prefers forest clearings.
It is generally not migratory.
Life
Primarily insectivorous in the summer - insects and spiders. Also
small snails.
A study found that great tits helped to reduce caterpillar damage in apple orchards by as much as 50%.
In autumn and winter they also eat berries and seeds.
They are monogamous breeders and establish breeding territories.
Extra-pair copulations are frequent.
Cavity nesters, breeding in a hole that is usually inside a tree, although occasionally in a wall or rock face, and they will readily take to nest boxes.
The nest is built by the female (plant fibres, grasses, moss, hair, wool and feathers).
The number in the clutch is as many as 18.
The incubation period is 12 and 15 days.
