Instructions unclear we have proper roofs which withstand some greenery and we can also wash the pavement with our own pressure washer which cost less than a single cleaning from your company
@@harrison00xXxYes and you are free to do that.
NEVER WALK BACKWARDS ON A ROOF
Yep - and don't scrub it while you walk backwards either
As roofer only walk backwards if you know what your doing
Or just don’t be a idiot 😂 and you’ll be fine
Na never walk backwards on a work site period
@@nicolas05151 you would be shocked on how often we have to walk backwards to install steel sheets on a roof
Pressure wash CZcamsrs beefing like rappers these days 😂
He is piggybacking off of that guy who is doing really good on moss cleaning, lol.
Lol
Also water drainage YTers 😅
They think they are in the empire business💀
Hardcore beefing😮😮😮
Roofer here, while I may not be a specialist on moss-killing chemicals or how to apply them, I can tell you that brushing the entire roof isn't that bad. You'd have to use a ton of force and brush like a madman to actually cause damage. Whenever we cleaned a roof we'd just grab a push broom and get to work
I'm thinking roofer's are the ones making these videos to boost business ,I'm only joking
Apparently according to this einstein, u cant
I agree and a light pressure wash doesnt hurt but you gotta have a good tact.
This guys methods are good and simple. Like if you dont want to have a bunch of equipment around for easy jobs these are good techniques.
But we all have our different exp and opinions too🤷 as long he does a good job and the customer is happy and fair price. Is all good. So far the guys checks all
Yea he sounds like a hater
@@sadidrahimi"sounds like a hater" sure if brushing your roof like its a dirty floor is acceptable sure 😂
Some good info, always brush gently and with the right brush. Even with the best treatment that kills the moss it almost never just falls off, you gotta brush it off some way unfortunately.
👊🏻
@@AllAboutPressureWashing Pretty sure this guy that commented is in your video being shamed. :D
Lol this video is probably about you bro, and you don’t even know it.
@@LawFarin "lOllL" You don't even watch the videos because he literally says the same things. Mindless sheep attaching a youtuber to this because he does this same type of content. Dude literally says exact same things.
@@LawFarinI was thinking the same thing lol I like Spencer clayes videos though he inspired me to start
Sodium Hypochlorite = Bleach
for those who didnt know.
Those who never attended High School 😂.
They make it seem like it’s rocket science. I’ve done many power washing jobs and these guys totally hype it up and lie about how much they make
@@ballbro613 It's not rocket science, but it still takes knowledge.. and if you give the perception that you're the real deal, I.E. business cards, pre-inspections, LLC or Inc., website, etc., people will pay up to get your work. If you're not making money doing it, that's on you.
Thank you for making this video, ive been commenting on these videos for years telling them not to scrub asphalt based shingles your loosing granules
🙏🏼
As a home inspector I greatly appreciate hearing this because the amount of homes I go to where I see the streaks of pressure or huge sections in shady areas that are just at a loss for material says a lot.
🙄🙄 As a home inspector aka " I am all-knowing and my comment is highly qualified intro."
@@jenniferoviawe I am not all knowing nor qualified in many fields but I am educated in many and master of none. I have seen more homes than many real estate agents the good the bad the ugly. I have been to many places where you can see streaks across the roof from improper removal of organic matter and people pressure washing things that are sensitive. Please do tell me what is your reason to think that all home inspectors are the all knowing gods that they think they are because in reality been doing this 23 years and I’m learning every day.
Bought the stuff called Moss be gone for $40 at Fred Meyer’s. Did my whole roof. Hooked up to a hose sprayed it and that was it.
it didn't all just fall off. It stayed on right? It just died. Is it still up there?
Don't trust someone with a reagan bush 84 shirt got it
FACTS
I always scrub my roof extra hard with a stiff brush to get rid of those pesky granules, they keep clogging up corrugated gutter drains at ground level
hahahahha. seriously? Joking right?
No, they clog up my corrugated drain pipe that takes my gutter water away, I don't need any stupid granules on my roof anyway.
I used to love when people said they cleaned their roof and the gutters looked like someone poured a dump truck full of gravel in them after they were done lol
Your right my brother so true, thanx for the info i shall spread your good news👊✌️
Put a pretty good mix on one that was mostly covered in moss. Guess I need I super super strong mix. Gotta go back to that job now :/ cold temps don't help though
Yep
Thank you for sharing this tip.
Thank you. I'm moving from a dry area to a Coastal one later in the year.
I had to make a comment because my you tube video footage was copy and edit on here. In the Northwest especially OR and WA every roof has moss. Gently removing them with a plastic brush will not do the roof any harm.
I totally agree with the point of this video. Some people uses metal brush or brushing excessively. It remove more granule in the process which is not what softwash intended to do. Softwash is intended as a pretreatment (prevent). Post-treatment is when moss get too heavy you should gently broom them down as much as you can.
Not all moss would come off the roof. Some would come off easy and some would not. Brush lightly to get the big and easy one off the roof then apply SH. Making sure the SH soak through the moss into their roots and not just on the top.
Great free advice!
👊🏻
Hey so I live and operate in Oregon almost every single roof job I land is every single seam of the roof with an inch of moss would you have any recommendations as to “scrubbing” the moss off in a safer manner to the roof because the moss here does a good job at breaking down the shingles and making everything more brittle and the cold makes it worse on top of that. Softer brush? Pre treat before scrubbing? Any advice would be greatly appreciated
6% and let it ride. Mitigate run off and ensure property protection.
@@GulfSoftwash thank you for the advice I’ll give it a try on my next roof cleaning right now I’ve been using a 4.5% mix I’m still learning but I’ve herd too high of concentrations can do more harm then good
@@LeathermanSoftwash if the moss is saturated like you’re saying, you may need to go that high to kill it and get down deep to the root of the moss. Avoid the broom if possible. Like Mike said, getting rid of the granulation does the most damage and the whole point of softwashing is to preserve shingle life. But that is a very hot mix so vegetation will pay the price if you’re not doing your due diligence in property protection.
@@GulfSoftwash yeah thanks again for the advice I really do appreciate the help, as I am still a kid by yalls terms 😂.with a mix that hot would I still be fine rinsing vegetation or would you recommend the need for a neutralizing agent?
You're going to pump pure 12.5% on those demons and pray to the lord.
Ha ha ha. I was waiting for you to say something because I went to Home Depot to buy few things and saw the brush when I touch it it’s really hard plastic
you showed every step of the progress except the actual brushing, which seems to be the point of confusion so I don't get why you left it out
I recently discovered that spraying with Clorox and walking away will kill everything, but it may take months for the green stuff to fall off. Still in all, almost zero effort compared to watching what so many others do. Just do it on an overcast day when it will stay wet for a few hours.
Excellent advice!
This makes sense,I can agree with this
👊🏻
Mossy roofs are good for the environment though and help keep your roof cool in summer.
It destroys your roof, all the moisture trapped in the moss is a nightmare to any roof…I really hope you don’t have a fully mossy roof because you think it’s good for your home and your health. You will have a ton of mold forming underneath the roof…get it fixed asap seriously
Bro is gonna get a cease and desist from the roof scrubbers next 🧽
🤣🤣🤣
Proper equipment = a watering can lol
Thank you for clarifying
You are so welcome
Yah sooo, I have a roof that’s rated to withstand all weather conditions but for some reason it can’t handle being swept with a broom………
Glad you're being helpful instead of encouraging people to do things that will cost them thousands in the end.
I've always used a heavily diluted masonry acid wash to remove moss from my shingles.
Other than some slight bleaching never had an issue.
On a good condition asphalt roof it won’t harm anything by brushing the shingles lightly, BUT if the shingles are showing their age, it doesn’t take much to knock the granules off once they start drying up!! Why do you think the gutters start filling up with granules on older roofs?
Best chemical after pressure wash
To keep it clean
How do you softwash?
Metal roof. Done.
All depends what kind of brush you’re using. And how strong your are doing that on the roof.
That's pretty much what I said
@@AllAboutPressureWashing thanks ✌️
Watching that person just scrub and scrub on that poor roof made my soul hurt
Don't brush the ground, you will lose yo granules!
Great content 👌
if i have a lot of granuals coming off my shingles is there something i can spray on there to rehydrate and stop/slow it from falling off
Can you explain what granule loss is?
Love it!
mmmm how exactly does SH prevent re-growth? ..... I'll wait.
Is the method the same for roof tiles, softwashing over pressure cleaning?
Awesome tip. I was just wondering if you could make a video or just explain the mixing your Sodium hypo-chloride. And what percentage you would recommend and the different concentrations you recommend for roof vs home walls vs concrete. Also what do you use as a post treatment.
I clean gutters and regular rain will put granules in gutters low pressure hot water works well with removing moss and black streaks
What’s a good size utility trailer for a pressure washing Business?
How do you clean the roof though. Just removing the crap still leaves dirt and other sht up their. How much pressure can shingles handle?
THANK YOU! For the PSA. I get pressure wash videos on roofs and wood surfaces - both of which cannot handle pressure washing!
Im trying to figure put who is "satisfied" watching detail work videos.
Are you
The real trick is to burn the moss away
Absolutely Mike.
👊🏻
Get some zinc or copper strips , have a roofer install then at the top of your roof, right under the ridge cap, after having the moss removed by a pro, this will help keep the moss from growing back. New AR (algae resistant) shingles have copper flakes in them, to keep the moss from growing on the shingles.
If roofs had no abrasive surfaces, wouldn’t the water runoff without adhering as long and risking seeping in past any portals of entry?
Shingle granules are the exterior coating on asphalt roofing shingles and provide your home with an extra layer of protection. These granules prevent the two underlying layers of your roofing shingles, the asphalt and fiberglass mat, from being exposed to the elements.
I use to clean roofs. I never did it like that. I used spray an wash
Or just leave the moss, since it doesn't build roots strong enough to even slightly damage your roof.
And the roof looks way better in green, anyways.
Absolutely one needs to be very careful
Genuine question. My downstream with xjet produces about a 3% SH. I believe for roofs like this I'm needing closer to that 6-8%.
I don't have a soft wash rig yet, but was thinking of getting the xjet system to get that higher SH blend of jobs like this.
All that to ask, is the 6-8% range with about a 10 minute soak (multiple times maybe) a good solution for a scenario like this?
@AllAboutPressureWashing
I use zinc if the customer doesn’t want to spend the $600 minimum I charge. I’ll price them around $300-$400 for zinc. It’s a lot faster and cheaper for me
Ive been told by more than one roofer that they absolutely love people who get their roof power washer regularly. Keeps them busy.
As a roofer. I like this guy
LOVE your t-shirt!!!!!
🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Does the moss damage the roof or is removing it an aesthetic thing
I feel personally attacked!
In the U.K our tiles are about 3cm thick, i don't think using a brush will destroy it? What do you think?
thank you. me too
I mean, pressure washers can cause even more damage in the wrong hands. Can't tell you how many roofs I had to replace due to professional power washers, let alone the DIY crowd
Those are the worst roofs ever.
As far as I know, soft wash charges several times too much
They use extra chemicals
Better to have a conventional wash if needed and treatment every couple years
Keep it treated and he won’t have to pressure wash or brush
Of course not
Never in a million years brush a roof! Ever!!!
Or just use proper roof tiles, then you don't have to worry 😂
Where's your safety harness and tie off?
If it ain't leaking, leave it alone. PERIOD!
Your funny, that's why we would use a putty knife taped to a stick. And zinc worked just fine and was recommended for areas in West Linn Oregon and the Portland area so pretty mossy
Just use zinc Strips at the top of your roof
My neibor had a company use these chemicals and it killed all my grass and landscaping! Get name and number of the company so you can go after them$$$
FUCKING THANK YOU!!!
I would walk my roof once every season and pick the moss. Never used chems
Im sure the moss causes damage to the roof, which is sad because I like the little fuzzy green stuff. Why cant we be friends
Right by listening to you.
Or have tiled roof
The Sodium hypochlorite is not a bleach ? The Bleach cause damage to roof no?
Do not overspray moss killer on a roof that it might get into the garden. Especially if it has a herbicide use, too.
A little will probably not do any hard, but if you spray indiscriminately you might end up doing some harm....And wasting product.
What's wrong with calling it bleach?
What solution can you use that does not use bleach?
Nothing
also beware of price scammers
This will also get them denied of any home claims as damage was created by man ,and not an act of god.
Buddy. Unless you're using 1000 pounds of force on a Broom, you're not hurting the shingles.
Pretty sure every roofer is laughing at you right now
9 out of 10 companies will go out of business within the first five years. Brushing is one good reason.
🙋🏻♂️Roofer here, mike is on point with this one 😬 except it’s cringe worthy when watching not satisfying if you’re a roofer!!! Honestly I can’t complain they’re making 30-50 year roofs age quicker in turn making business for me!!!!
I just set the roof on fire after covering it with gasoline, presto, moss is gone!
I was literally looking at the guy sweeping the roof wondering if he's heard of herbicides before
Why is this type of roof so popular in the US?
Metal roofs folks.
social person has multiple lawsuits right now to two houses being destroyed from chemicals
Is the moss even bad?
My last name happens to be Moss
I was thinking they be messing these ppl roof up for a couple of bucks
Is there harm in letting moss grow on roofs?
Yes
Notice the gentleman is not following ohsa rules.
