@@soracool1234 I disagree. The last arc is a bunch of extremely watered down multi-battles against the 13. There is very little challenge at all during these fights. The Xehanort fight and secret boss are passable, but nowhere near the intensity of bosses the rest of the series has to offer. KH3 is severely lacking in intense boss battles, even without comparing it to FM versions of previous games.

I have nowhere to post my opinion (maybe I'll make a video) so I will make a list of reasons why kh3 was so disappointing for me.
    1. Story
    A) The plot doesn't really move during the Disney part of the game, so 80% of the game feels like filler.
    B) They shove all the plot, tie up all the loose ends, and force happy endings for all the characters in the last 20% of the game
    C) They removed final fantasy characters. We were actually invested in those characters. They were in 1 and 2. It seems like they didn't have enough time so they just decided to not include them.
    D) The plot actually makes 0 sense. Things just happen and you have to accept them. The whole putting your heart in someone else's heart bullshit is stupid AF. Ok in kh1 it made sense, but in kh3 there's 4 people inside sora at one time and it's obvious the plot is out of control and they're just writing things to write them.
    E) Maleficent and Pete look for black box the whole game and don't find anything and nothing happens to them. Are they like team rocket now?
    F) The ending was dumb! Ok, so they show everyone getting their happy ending and hanging out in destiny islands. However, you can't appreaciate any of these peaceful and conclusive cutscenes because there's only one thing on your mind the whole time: "where's sora and Kairi?" I couldn't truly enjoy the ending because that thought was looming over me the whole time. Then, when they finally show that sora and Kairi are safe sitting on the tree, they don't even kiss! AND sora disappears/isnt really there??? You make me wait over a decade and the ending isn't even satisfying. I get they wanted to generate hype for the next game but they have secret ending for that. Like why tf couldn't they just let us have our nice conclusive ending??
    2. Gameplay
    A) Combat is too floaty. It takes too long to do things and animations take forever to finish. Air dash feels slow. Basic keyblade combos get stale and don't feel good.
    B) Magic feels broken. Like why would I swing my keyblade at all when I can just cast thundaga into thundaza to clear mobs??
    C) Attractions are boring, slow, and overpowered
    D) Flowmotion doesn't flow? It feels stiff using flowmotion. They could've made Flowmotion feel really flashy which could've added a lot of depth to movement, but it just doesn't work the way you want it to
    E) fights are too easy, even on proud mode. The enemy and boss design suck. Enemies AI is super dumb. The only superboss fight is slow, repetitive, and boring.
    F) post game content is lacking. Sure you can do a lot of things, but do I really want to them? Do I really want to find all the lucky emblems? Or get good at the San fransokyo time trials? Give me Olympus coliseum I wanna swing my damn keyblade
    3. Small details
    A) No oblivion or oathkeeper keyblades. These are legacy keyblades. They have been in nearly every game. That's like if they didn't include Shiva or ifrit as a summon in a new final fantasy game.
    B) Ultima keyblade doesn't look like Ultima keyblade! Ok this might just be me but still!
    C) you can't hover glide. You have to be moving forward to glide
    D) no refect or magnet. Legacy spells. I understand they might be broken but there's a lot of broken things in this game. It's their job to balance things
Might add more to the list once I think of it

Really solid review and excellent points. I watched someone play it and noticed these exact things. The core gameplay seems stiff and repetitive; action RPGs were in desperate need of improvement and KH3 didn't give that to us.

    • @Sebulba2000
      @Sebulba2000 Před 5 lety +7

Ikr, I agree with most of your points.
Oh and also, let me add some points and tell me if you'd agree.
      1. Why did they had to spoil everything with the trailers? Like, I was expecting some surprises in terms of worlds but got nothing... Meh, the good old days discovering KH 1 worlds when I was 8.
      2. No torn pages collecting, instead a one short episode of 100 Acre Wood.
      3. No playable Radiant Garden
      4. No 2nd visits to world (supposedly they ran out of storage so they could've made the 2nd visits.
      5. Too few worlds
      6. Why didn't they add Riku's Dark Realm Adventures as a side story like Reverse Rebirth in CoM? Same goes with Kairi's training.
      7. And about that training, then they could've developed her character, as she has no development here in this game.
      8. The worlds are too long and as I said above, I'd love to be a 2nd visit, then we'd have a more fresh and fluent experience.
      9. the game just hyped a lot plot points only to be left unanswered, while they COULD'VE made the story flow with this.
      10. More questions, only a few minor answers (and one minor one in an Epilogue).
The game's overally good, I still love it, but I can relate to people waiting 10+ years fr a game, only to realize, it's rather decent than great as they imagined and doesn't stand a chance against KH2.
And one interesting point, getting the minigame high score trophies is harder than finishing the game on Proud.

    • @staretimecomics
      @staretimecomics Před 5 lety +3

No Stop magic, no gravity magic.
Whole game end shown in trailer (basically). No keyblade throwing, dual wielding, no chests out of reach until later. I 100%ed worlds the first time through them. Two standard keyblades.
2.8 had deeper, darker levels, which got my hopes up for nothing apparently. Nothing dark or compelling here.
*Single white feather falling to the water's surface.*

I literally enjoyed every part of KH3. However, these points are very true. KH3 is good, but I'm pretty sure by bringing back some of the gameplay mechanics, characters, keyblades, etc. It can be better.
The question is, will SE listen to us players?
      I don't know. DLC, maybe?

    • @justsomeguy727
      @justsomeguy727 Před 5 lety +1

The story in most games doesn't move along very much in any of the games during the Disney worlds. In kh2 you can literally cut Atlantica, pride lands, agrabah, and Halloween town and lose nothing in terms of the story. The return trip to hollow bastion is a sudden left turn in pacing as it happens shortly after you finish doing 3 worlds of "why are we even here?" And you're now suddenly having a massive climb in pacing after basically a flatline of doing nothing. Then it goes back to a steady pace to then slap the main story on you all at once in the final visit to twilight town.
Most everything else just sounds like you had far too many expectations that weren't met. Like you created this mental image of what the game was supposed to be like and since it didn't live up to it, you didn't enjoy it as much. Which is fine, but don't act like that's an issue with the game when that's clearly a you thing. And while I do agree with alot of what you said, what I don't agree with is the act of pretending like something isn't as good simply because it didn't meet your expectations.
~ Saying trailers show too much and then proceeding to say it was better back when you were 8 is very contradictory too. We didn't have easy access to trailers when we were 8. You can't blame the company for that. A KH1 trailer showed off Ansem SoD in hollow bastion and such. Vanilla KH2 lacked post game content as well. It was literally sephiroth, paradox cups that yielded nothing for the player for doing them, and the journal. All KH games lack in the post game content, save for the final mixes because their entire reason for being made was to give the games more content.
The ending was foreshadowed the entire game and is 100% in line with Sora as a character in how he's willing to give up everything for everyone. Sure, it's bittersweet, but it isn't without reason or explanation. They didn't "make you wait a decade" for anything either. The game wasn't even confirmed to be a thing until 2013. That just sounds to me like you really had this vision of a perfect game in your head, and when those expectations weren't met, you wrote it off as either bad or dumb. Just the fact you're using nuances like "legacy keyblades and legacy spells" tells me this. A game does not need to pander to each and every individual want of ours in order to be good. Would I have liked oblivion and oathkeeper in the game ? Fuck yes, but not having them doesn't make the game less good. That's just childish to think that way, man.

Idk if anyone else feels the same....but the absence of Final Fantasy characters makes if the biggest letdown in gaming for me. Knowing there is none makes it so difficult to keep playing the game. That was the whole appeal of Kingdom Hearts and square enix has completely lost touch with that side of Kingdom Hearts, and seems to have just gone full Disney. I hope there is a fan backlash to this decision so they can get back in touch. No final fantasy characters in the finale? Are you serious? No Cloud and Sephiroth conclusion? Squall? Radiant Garden? I don't even want to play the game yeah its fun and everything but come on man. 13 years. The end of a trilogy...and no final fantasy? That really hurts. Totally out of touch on square's part.

Lets Not kid our selves here this game sucks! Instead of making all the mechanics work as intended they seemed to have just said fuck it. The game game play feels more like a shit storm of ideas. They decided lets just put it in basically a shit storm of underdeveloped mechanics. Also kingdom hearts 2 has better game play over all good story. Kingdom hearts chain of memories had the best concept for game play mixing cards and action worked so well for the gba. birth by sleep had the best story you dont need to play any other kingdom hearts game to understand it!! and kingdom hearts 3 is just GG down the toilet you can add all the mechanics but if you toss out good mechanics that was present in KH2 i just hate that and i liked birth by sleep combat system i didn't see a need for it besides for better magic attacks in kingdom hearts 3 drive from KH 2 was amazing! One thing though KH3 has good heartless design from world to world its nice to see that still present. I hated the attraction things but considering its a disney game... it makes more sense since it was mentioned disney has disney world... guess that could not have been a WORLD TO ITSELF WITH FINAL FANTASY CHARACTERS GOING THERE BIG MISS!!!! instead of annoying press triangle to win bs.

The story is rushed and doesn't flow well, it's all thrown together at the end of the game. The combat is too flashy and the rides are out of place with little to no strategy. The disney worlds are there out of obligation and have really no point in the story. The worlds are all very rushed and void of life, just tons of linear narrow paths through nature with not a lot of cool or memorable places. The actual story scenes have bad acting and voice acting and some character models look really bad. You shouldn't let your love of a game keep you from being truly objective. He outlined a host of issues in the video and still gave the game a near perfect score.

@@jy1178 you voice your opinion like it is fact, which it is not. Also, reviews are subjective, of course you need to also say the stuff that others might not enjoy but that doesn't mean you have to give the game a lower score.
For example, I absolutely love Breath Of The Wild, but I also know that it has a lot of not so great things in it, like the weapon degrading, but I would still give it like a 9.5/10 'cause all other things, like the feeling of adventure i got from the game, outshine those negative things.
And honestly, I think if you've been a fan of KH since the beginning you will probably love this game for what it is, the end to a saga you have loved for so long. And if that's the case you will probably not be as annoyed by some things, or think some things are as bad as others think they might be.

With Kingdom Hearts 3 having a staggering 8 game build up with about 14 years between main title releases and coming off the heels of KH2.... Kingdom Hearts 3 was a pretty big disappointment. *Spoilers... kind of*
    1. Not a single Final Fantasy character in sight. Was really looking forward to seeing what happened to Cloud and Sephiroth post KH2.
    2. The last 5 hours or so of the game did not come to a cohesive, fulfilling end. More care should have been put into the way characters came back such as Roxas and Terra. It felt shoe-horned in as if the developers were like "Lol this is what you wanted right?" After their 5 minutes of shine, they don't really do anything once you save them and the plot moves on.
    3. The Disney worlds.... they're so boring. They all feel mostly the same (except for San Fransokyo, kind of liked that one). There are 8 Disney worlds, 1 of them being optional, and you only visit them ONCE. Never a reason to go back. Also you won't understand a lot of whats going on unless you've seen the movie. Arrendale is a very good example of this.
    4. Most of the Keyblades are pretty boring and ugly.
    5. There are only a handful of bosses compared to KH2s roster.
    6. There is one secret boss and it has no bearing on the plot whatsoever.
    7. Series original worlds are lack luster. No Radiant Garden to explore, Twilight Town is a shadow of it's KH2 self. Disney Castle? Traverse Town? Nope.
I'm a huge Kingdom Hearts fan, but there was sooooo much riding on this title and it didn't deliver the epic finale of a plot spanning over 15 years like I thought it would. It's like I was living Final Fantasy 15 all over again.

I liked the game A LOT at first but sadly it degrades in quality the further you progress to where I lost interest entirely. The first world of Olympus was super dense with a HUGE map, lots of collectables to find, multiple paths to reach the goal, tons of mini-bosses, and an epic main boss. Then the worlds get smaller (resorting to the tried and true narrow corridors leading to open spaces or one big area as per Big Hero 6) and eventually it starts to rely on gimmicks and gratuitous mini-games to pad out the world length while having more vacant space with nothing to interact with.
It just SCREAMS "budget cuts" which is a damn shame. If the entire game sustained a constant level of quality, this would be game of the century in my books. Anyway, the pirate ship boss fight was the final deathblow that killed the game for me; it was a (wannabe) Assassin's Creed style pirate ship fight with slow clunky controls and you have to be damn near perfect on proud mode or the boss escapes and you lose the fight. Not fun in the slightest.

Wish they would have gone back to the KH2 formula of revisiting worlds to new events and expanded stories, we had a culmination of all three enemy types and the only big bads turned out weak asf in the Disney worlds. Also, there should have been way to turn off attraction flow or at least customize which ones you allow to trigger. The attraction flows are just big flashy I-frames with damage output.

Ryan Aita they give you 0 reason to revisit worlds after you beat them. And if you are going back to finish getting 1 of 2 types of collectibles the game has to offer (treasure chest or lucky emblem) it’s usually just a couple you missed and you skip around to the closest check points acquiring them. Then off to another world to 100% it in the same fashion. The structure of each world is more then less the same. The worlds might be bigger in size but they are fucking empty and even more linear feeling. There are no trinity moves to unlock to use to collect rewards giving you a reason to revisit worlds, few of which give you higher tier magic. The game offers no real challenge to people who actually like to 100% everything. The battles are easy as fuck on the hardest mode. No Olympus coliseum. No extremely hard secret bosses. No strategy. So much missing. 100 acre woods? Was a depressing joke with 3 mini games that are literally the exact same fucking thing and done in one area (rabbits garden) Your time beating the game is meaningless if you don’t actually play all the content within the game. I put easily a 100 hours in KH1 getting literally everything you can get and getting to lvl99. This game is gonna be 100% within a quarter of that time. It’s literally a weaker game in every way except visually. My conclusion is that this game is dumbed down for kids who play with fidget spinners and can’t understand basic RPG strategy or complex puzzle solving concepts. You used to be forced to manage items magic and inventory in a way that actually mattered. Now it really doesn’t matter at all you can get through the game with basically nothing. MP drained? No need for ethers just wait for it to cool down and blast them away again. I can go on but I think those are pretty legitimate problems for people who actually care about quality content in a game we waited 14 years for. There should be no significant lack of content like this we should have everything that’s in the previous games and then some. Not a visually pleasing pile of shit. I’d say the only reason your play through is longer this time around is cause you had more cut scenes to sit through lmao cause I know damn well that wasn’t quality game play time.

Only thing I will agree with is yes the game is a bit too easy at this given point but that is easily patched . Nothing is perfect. Kh3 is fun. But to deny that the game lacks a lot when it comes to plot, difficultly, and content is to do a disservice to the community. If we as a community allow Square to believe KH3 is flawless, then this franchise will die. We never really got to help jack or anybody til the end because tia dalma sent us off in the crab ship to do nothing useful. We could have gone to the island where jack and will fought on the water wheel and stopped their fight or something, could have arrived earlier in the story before they went over the waterfall, help them get that rotating map. The last cutscene there could have been another ship battle before it, fighting against E.T.C instead of heartless.

@@samuelstratman4906 Your basic point itself is a good one. Sora, Donald and Goofy do get wiped aside for technical reasons. But...
      1. While the additions you suggested could've made the storyline more enjoyable, they would've dragged out the timeline of their visit unrealistically long compared to other worlds. And also required adding several more characters, like James Norrington and Sao Feng who just die in the movie. No, it doesn't excuse the wild goose chase of Sora & the group. I'm just figuring out why those additions didn't happen.
      2. That's more about the storytelling & not giving relevance for the characters in one, singular Disney world, which is one of the games weaknesses I do sign. But I disagreed with the statement about "stilted dialog & tedious cutscenes", which in my books is not only a different subject, but also highly arguable.

Where the introspection? The dialogues? In previous games you ended up emphatize whit carachters much more. No new characters, no evolution throug the story. Xion in five minutes appears, change side and meet her friends. Roxas? Aqua? Ven? What happaned besides what we saw in the trailer? Nothing at all. NOTHING. Besides, Nomura leaves out all that emotional stuff that i think is the main characteristic of the saga. It can't be a pillar of the serie. If it had been a nintendo game, just named epilogue, i would have appreciated it more. I don't think rappresents what we have been felt during this last decade. I think Nomura rushed all things.

WARNING: The following comment contains spoilers.
    ...
    Still here? Okay then.
    Pros:
    Improved voice acting.
    Gorgeous graphics.
    Character development for Sora.
The villains actually feel like people instead of merely evil psychos.
Happy endings for Roxas, Xion, Ventus, Terra, Aqua, Namine and Isa.
Character development for Vexen, Ienzo and Saix.
Fascinating lore tidbits and lots of stuff to theorize about.
Sequel hooks interesting enough to make me REALLY want to know what's going to happen next.
Best world storylines so far (though there are still a few hiccups, cough, Corona, cough).
Worlds are massive and gorgeous and perfect for exploration.
    Interesting gummi ship segments.
Ultimate Frisbee between Ventus, Lea and Isa (probably my favorite scene in the entire game).
    SO MANY FEELS.
    Cons:
Game is way too easy, KH3 Proud Mode feels like KH2 Beginner Mode.
Overarching story is more disjointed than usual and gets very rushed at the end.
Poor explanations on how various characters are brought back (how exactly did Org XIII get Xion? Her heart was still inside Sora's halfway through the game then suddenly it's back with her in the ending with no apparent consequences for Sora and no explanation for how it happened to begin with. Don't get me wrong, I'm ecstatic that she's back, I just wish they had bothered to tell us HOW. Some explanation is better than none).
Kairi is even more pathetic than she is in KH1 despite her having training now.
No Final Fantasy characters. Not even the RESTORATION COMMITTEE.
    Attraction flows are seriously OP.
    As are Keyblade transformations.
    And grand magic commands.
Seriously guys, nerf the combat please, this is ridiculous.
For people who have been possessed, Xehanort's vessels (aside from Xion and Terranort) have an oddly large amount of free will.
It's a decent game overall, but not as good as I was expecting. It's not the worst game in the series by any means (Re:Coded still holds that title) but it's not the best either. I'd say the game was acceptable but not remarkable. Which is a shame 'cause I had such high hopes for it, and while I wouldn't go so far as to say that the game was a letdown, it wasn't the amazing and epic final chapter that I was hoping for either. I hope they release a Final Mix version to help make the story a little cleaner. Or at least patch it so that they'll let us turn off attraction flows and other situation commands.

Honestly, despite my first impression of the game being amazing, the more that I think about the more I feel this game was just shy of being garbage. For every step forward, it made 3 steps back and then did a backflip off a cliff. I want so badly to love the game but, honestly, I wish I hadn't played it and just left the conclusion of the story to my imagination. Kingdom Hearts 3 not only fails to live up to any of it's predecessors, but it also independently lacks in many areas. Difficulty, duration, story, content, pacing, etc are all major issues that can be explored in depth to realize how much is fundamentally wrong with the game.
The first issue is difficulty. I'm not an amazing Kingdom Hearts player, I never beat Lingering Will or Sephiroth or any of those fights, but I have beaten every game on Critical mode previously. Seeing as there is no critical mode, I played Proud mode and, not only did I barely even have to pay attention most of the time, just mashing the X and O buttons and using the attraction moves, I got through the entire story without dying once, which I could do easily just by being careless in random mob fights before. The Organization members, which should have each been powerful bosses, weren't even a challenge fighting 2-3 at a time. Even the final boss was an absolute joke that required no change in gameplay or strategy at all besides "Hit it until it dies". There wasn't a single fight in this game where I even felt pressured to try and, especially on hard mode, that's really disappointing. Not only that, but the difficulty contributed to another big issue in the game: Duration.
Duration coming to mean the amount of time a game's main story lasts when played through, Kingdom Hearts 3 fails epically. The entire game was over for me in around 30 hours, even while taking long breaks in the middle of play and taking my time exploring, it felt like everything was over before it began. Not to mention that, unlike some previous Kingdom Hearts games, your playthrough is extremely streamlined, pressuring you to just rush from one world to the next. The aforementioned difficulty issues also contributed to the problem. In previous KH games, I'd occasionally find an annoying boss that I'd have a tough time with or a world that was a little too tough for my liking and I'd go to the previous world and level up for a while. Not the case here, as even while being under many of the level recommendations, I never once found myself needing to take time to power up my party, making it go that much faster, and seem that much shorter. The duration also harshly affects the story, especially in terms of pacing.
The story of Kingdom Hearts 3 was something most of us already had a general idea about. Xehanort needs minions, Sora needs friends, they get some, they fight, the end. How that was accomplished, the specific events and interactions, as well as what the ending would be all left us in suspense, and was the main reason the story felt so exciting starting out. We wanted to see reactions when Sora met Ventus, we wanted to know how Aqua, who was shown having fallen to darkness, would be saved. We wanted to see Roxas come back and reunite with Axel and Xion, and we wanted to know how it would happen, with many trailers hinting at Sora needing to give into the darkness to free Roxas and no hints about Xion being given. Well, sadly, none of it went nearly as well as we'd hoped. The premise of going to the virtual twilight town was a major part of the beginning of the story, which is completely unneeded and forgotten later on. We then go to the idea of replicas and getting one for Roxas, which is also largely forgotten. Xion isn't even mentioned (though vaguely hinted at) until she randomly appears on the villains side for absolutely no reason (she HATED Xemnas, there's no reason for her to side with them at all). And Roxas literally deus-ex-machina's himself into existence through the power of love and acts absolutely nothing like his usual self, being monotone and totally reserved without any emotional reaction whatsoever. Aqua's storyline was actually fine, but left us with her being able to shake the darkness just by getting beaten up, something that no other character has ever done. There was a whole lot of Maleficent in the first few worlds and her search for the box, but she then vanishes without a mention until the post-credits. We get the usual Disney stories which was handled MARVELOUSLY well, improving a lot from previous games where Sora was just self-inserted without any kind of coherence to the original stories. The Vexen, Ienzo and crew story of research vanishes the moment they've given enough exposition to Sora, never to be seen again. The time warp after everyone dies and comes back is completely unexplained, as there's no reason Lingering Will wouldn't have appeared the first time. The Ansem and Xemnas suddenly have a change of heart as they die is bullshit, they're practically Xehanort himself and have never shown the smallest sliver of emotion or empathy or, for that matter, anything more than pure evil. Overall, the story goes from "Sora needs to awaken his power" to "Everyone's magically present to fight and the final battle is almost over" before you could even explain the plot of Kingdom Hearts to a newbie. The biggest sin however, is that not only do we not see Axel and Kairi train AT ALL, we don't even get to see them really fight, with both of them being almost immediately defeated in cutscenes without even getting 1 hit in. To build up them becoming keyblade wielders only to immediately turn Axel into a punching bag and put Kairi into an awful damsel in distress role of always needing to be saved and protected, is disgusting honestly. Also, Yen Sid saving everyone? Epic, but begs the question about why he'd never helped before.
Finally, the content issues. The number of worlds is abysmal. Kingdom Hearts 1? 13 worlds. Kingdom Hearts 2? 15 worlds. Which you have to revisit multiple times. Kingdom Hearts 3? 9 worlds, with the only returning worlds having entire areas removed from previous games. Not to mention we didn't get to go to Hollow Bastion or Radiant Garden to meet up with our old allies. (Did anyone else want to visit the Usual Spot in Twilight town in HD? I did.). This drastically fed into the pacing issue, as the worlds we had were gorgeous, and well done overall, but just didn't feel like enough. Additionally, adding to areas being removes, there was no Olympus Coliseum in Kingdom Hearts 3, which had ALWAYS been a favorite part of the Kingdom Hearts franchise. Also, though much less important, I wanted to skateboard around Twilight town and that didn't happen. There's also the fact that exactly ZERO Final Fantasy characters appeared in Kingdom Hearts 3, unless you count the sales Moogles, which is plain sinful considering one of the greatest appeals of the game by far is the blending of Final Fantasy and Disney. There's no Cloud or Sephiroth fight, no Squall arriving to help out or fun loving Yuffie. Nor do we even get to see the Seifer gang in Twilight town, which would have been an easy addition to incorporate. The number of Keyblades is absolutely pathetic, with 22 being obtainable in KH2, compared to 13 in KH3 if you include the 3 pre-order only Keyblades. Finally, the fact that the story doesn't contain any fights against the members of Organization 13 before the final battle felt wrong, like something was missing from previous games, in addition to being promised multiple character gameplay, only to play as Riku exactly 2 times. Also, the final battle with the thousands of heartless that all just automatically die by the dozens when hit was a huge let down, as I would have rather fought several dozen heartless at a time.
Overall, the game is visually stunning with HUGE improvement on handling the Disney story lines, but the main story line was a sad jog to disappointment. The gameplay is smooth, but entirely too easy. Attraction commands need to be greatly diminished in terms of strength AND regularity, and enemies need considerable buffs to their attack. Also, the amount of AP made available means you don't have to ration it at all, when optimally you'd have to pick and choose abilities to suit you rather than just having all of them. The overall gameplay is a 3/10, the story a 3/10, and the visuals a 9/10, for an average score of about 5/10 for the game. It's not worth actually playing through the game, but just goofing around and watching the cinematics would definitely be worth an hour or two of your time.

Rex 2900 - I agree with most of what you said, the only thing I need to disagree with is the Disney World story telling.

I played the game for about 10 hours and here are my thoughts about the pros and cons
The reasons are down there but I give this game a overall 7.5/10
and for all the love of the look and style, I 100% give it a 10/10
    *Pros*
    1. *Graphics are AMAZING*
some of the best by far in the series; Every moment, every place, everything was carefully treated with love and you can literally take any picture in any world and it would look picture perfect. Everything in this game is crystal clear and stylish
    2. *The cutscenes are not awkward anymore*
in the series they usually switch from 2D face animations to full 3D animations during the cutscenes making it look a bit awkward and emotionless, but in this game they took out any 2D lazy animation and replace every moment with full blown 3D animations making the characters seem more alive.
    3. *Exploration*
like in number 1 they gave the environments more love, meaning everything is made to be in that style and perfectly mimics the disney style and tone; and with that there are hardly any transition screens anymore, every world is a large sandbox and the largest key to playing the game is exploration.
    4. *The new special attack moves*
In my opinion I loved how they included some of the rides straight outta disneyland. And it's also a great idea for each key to have they own abilities.
    5. *The enemies*
They look amazing and unique enemies that they really do fit and adapt into their world instead of looking way out of place
    Cons
    1. *Fighting*
it's too damn easy, they should've called this game Triangle Land cause the game is literally spoon feeding us all the special attacks, making it feel repetitive and tamed to being OP (Over Powered).
    2. *The story*
look, any good story can be either complicated or simple as long as it's a good story, in my opinion I think KH has a good story.. the problem is that they forgot the simple rule to for visual story telling... *SHOW dont tELL* . only 10% of the dialogue is human, everything else is just explaining and more explaining and even more explaining with unnecessary information on the side.
    3. *Too many cutscenes*
I swear this game is just trying too hard to be a movie cause I can't go anywhere unless I have more information and explanation hammered into my skull, I know some of them in necessary for the story to progress but we don't need one every 5 MINS
    4. *Space travel*
Remember how simple it was in the old games just to get from point A to point B, and a lot of the times you had to fight and blast your way though heartless and nobodies and it was all done Space Invaders' style and was done quickly so you wouldnt feel bored to travel? WELL SCREW THAT TIMELESS NONSENSE, you actually HAVE to travel through rocks and shit and instead of taking 5 or 6 mins to get there you'll probably confuse yourself and get lost or something at take almost 10 to 15 mins in your slow ass ship. I know going through the obstacles make you go faster, and you have the boosters.. but you can only use them 3 times and you have to wait, and it doesn't even make you go that fast anymore..
And I think the game encourages you to stay on the path cause if you don't you're gonna take 50 years to get to your destination discouraging you to explore.
Back then getting anywhere was a breeze.. over here IT TAKES FOREVER
    5. *No Final Fantasy Characters anymore*
    the title says it all...

Been waiting forever for this game, played it right through when i started in the keyblade graveyard and you end up "losing" i thought it would of been a good halfway point to the game to recoup and you would be revisiting all previous worlds, but nope that was literally the start of the end sequence. They used the final fight scenes for all these convoluted characters to become absolute folly and then they all die happy. It felt like too much characters not even enough time for a plot - this feels like Nomura has decided to get rid of all that we knew to move onto a less complex story.
Combat was fun, graphics and characters very accurately designed - even the voice acting wasn't that bad. Played on proud mode expecting to be stomped - was disappointed overall 6/10

I'm not all the way through the game, but i can only manage one world a day. The KH story has developed so much on its own it feels like it has outgrown the Disney characters. At least in the first games each disney world had a story. You go to this world and something is happening there that they need your help with so it felt lime you had a reason to be there. You could fight actual disney villains at the end too. In KH3 each disney world is just the movie but heartless are shoehorned in so Sora and the gang are shoehorned in. The characters play their role in the movie while you hang back and fight the heartless. (Toy box was a good separation from that but i didn't really like gameplay. Running around a toy store got old really quick) the non-disney stuff was somewhat interesting but I've only played the core 3 games so I didn't know what was going on. Overall i feel like the game was all flash and no substance

This is my first kingdom hearts game that I have ever played and it’s fantastic and magical. I just love exploring each Disney world, my favourite so far has to be toy box with the toy story characters.
The only issue I have is the long complicated story which I’m trying my best to understand as well as the gummie ship experience and customisation.
Overall this game was very much worth buying I only explored 4 worlds so far.

I especially agree with your last points, like the lack of a critical mode. Critical mode represents one of the most hardcore JRPG experiences you can find when it comes to Kingdom Hearts and it demands skill from the player. Proud mode in this game is way too easy up until the final few bosses. Even then, I could just mash X, stock up on potions, and do pretty well. After beating the game I feel no need to go back and get the collectibles or have another playthrough because it's not worth.

Yeah that's literally my only gripe about this game: Except for Mount Olympus and Big Hero 6, Sora is COMPLETELY inconsequential in other Disney worlds. The Pixar worlds were fantastic, and Sora and co. actually had impact on their stories. But the Disney worlds.... Nothing changes if Sora was never there. The "movie" just plays out like normal. So if you've seen Frozen, Sora just kinda stands to the wayside, not affecting the plot at all, while the whole movie just plays out before you, the movie you've already seen. The worlds guilty of this are: Frozen, Rapunzel, and Pirates of the Caribbean. Those worlds are exactly the same as the movies, without a lot of important details, just with Sora doing his usual thing with Heartless and having absolutely no impact on that world's story.

I read a comment somewhere that said this game is a crazy Frankenstein's monster of story and gameplay that is stitched together with no real reasoning and then that monster is thrown onto a roller coaster and just let to go it's course and I feel this is an apt metaphor. I would NOT give this game a 9. Because of many flaws this game would get an 8 at most because of story and the feeling of being rushed (Seriously if you are satisfied with this you are cookoo for cocoa puffs, being satisfied with the fates of some characters is one thing but how some characters are omitted and others turning into the equivalent of team rocket with NO impact whatsoever. The questions this game answers is shoddily put together and are only replaced by a LITANY of many more.) Less than that because of how easy it is (I beat it on proud mode and didn't die once, I did lose have to retry sections in the Carribean after the ship clipped on heartless ships or the freaking rocks), the horrendous gummi sections (KH2 made it actually fun on rails) I didn't have to struggle on learning the basics on how to move straight up or down instead of the angled up or down.

I've played every KH game up until now (with the exception of coded) multiple times over. I've sunk literally hundreds of hours into this series over the years, and was so looking forward to doing it again- but after playing it, I found myself barely able to finish one playthrough, let alone a second or third. This game shot multiple holes in the plot by breaking the world's rules with no explanation, and the gameplay is both extremely unbalanced and laughably easy. Obviously Square has the rights to do with this series what they will, but I felt that this game was a great disservice to the characters that I've come to love over the years.

    @fabianbladez123 Před 5 lety +3

If I can sum up a comprehensive word for Kingdom Hearts 3 it would be, rushed. The graphics are stunning, and the worlds are big. But they rushed so many aspects of the game. The ending, 100 Acre wood, the shop and customization, and the final boss battles. Everything seems like they were told that moms coming home and started cleaning the house in just 15 minutes. Kairi barely got any story development, there are only 9 worlds to really visit before the final one. I actually like the combat but it’s a bit repetitious, but I don’t care that much it was still the best part of the game for me. The story after having more than a decade to develop, fell flat. I had such huge expectations for this game that were simple to deliver but that were completely glossed over. The times you can play as Riku and Aqua were so refreshing and made combat open up again. But they don’t let you control them after that or have them as party members, WHY?! I don’t know why we couldnt play as Kairi, like it was such a missed opportunity I feel like the story should have been going between Sora, Riku and Kairi and playing as them, that would have been fun and a nice change of pace. The fact that Kairi IS a party member later in the game for just one battle, means that they did actually develop her combat, but the story just didn’t do her justice. My final issue is that there is no replayability to the game. There’s no coliseum, no side quests, no secret key blades, no secret bosses, no strange difficult enemies , no torn pages, no 100 acre wood mini games, and there’s literally nothing to do once you’ve opened every chest in each world. Like you have ZERO reason to ever go back. There’s no new element or skill that you acquire later on that gives you a reward for going back. Everything is handed to you essentially and I keep feeling like I didn’t really do anything. I could have gotten over the loss of the Final Fantasy aspects of the game if they compensated by giving more content in its place, but since they didn’t I can only long for that cut content. Simply letting us play as Riku and Kairi on their journeys would have made the game so much more longer and different. They could have taken them to different worlds and would have expanded on their character development and shown that they are just as important as Sora. But no, everything was just rushed. And that’s what hurts me in the ending, not the ending itself but the journey it took to get there feels unsatisfying, they threw so many happy endings to compensate for the lack of story for most of the game.

Huge fan of the series here commenting only on the story aspect of the game (which is the part of KH I have always enjoyed the most). I felt like a nobody during the final two hours of the game; as much as I tried I could not feel any emotion- my heart just wasn't in it you know? The only exception was when Kairi was struck down, but tbh after I defeated Xehanort, I actually forgot that that had happened. That is how forgettable of a character she was. It just feels like a tragically missed opportunity to be one of the greatest games ever, but it's too late to go back now. The game was way to easy on proud, no critical mode too many flash summons like the pirates ship, NO final fantasy characters!! and Maleficent and Pete we’re cutscenes looking for a black box? Seen everything on trailers before the game came out no surprises, worlds and basically whole story was rush 70% cutscenes. 100 acre woods was the most rushed, I miss collecting the torn pages. @Glodwra I actually feel the same in regards to FF characters. For Nomura to say “they don’t need them anymore” is plain bullshit and seems like his bitterness playing in regards to his “leaving” the FFXV project. Which is apparent because of the literal wide focus and showcasing of Verum Rex. When a series about my friends are my power is the main source of strength for the protagonist, you just don’t completely erase their existence, especially on the finale. Not only that, the main selling point of the game especially for when I first got KH1 was that Final Fucking Fantasy characters were in it. The mixture of Disney and FF character was brilliant! It literally is kingdom hearts because it’s the baby of those two companies together. Wakka, Tidus, and Selphie weren’t even at Destiny Islands at all.. remember the other children residents of that stupid island? Supposedly the trio’s friends. The game is severely disappointing... even more so now than a few days ago as realization of all the shortcomings of the game are arising.
