What does Brad always say if you don’t believe me? we do believe in you, Brad. That’s why we listen to you.
Haha. #BelieveinBrad
On my birthday too!!! Thanks for the present boys!!! 🎁
Enjoy your birthday week Dan.
Thanks guys.
Thanks for listening DTay.
Georgia Tech has a top 10 hardest schedule. That being said a 6-6 record is a positive. I think they may surprise people against FSU.
6-6 would be a fantastic season. Georgia Tech is interesting because they'll play better than their record and teams like that can have value week-to-week.
Under 5 +100 for Georgia Tech seems to be a good bet considering the tough schedule, thoughts ?
Thoughts on Georgia Tech are towards the end of the show.
It is good to have Payne back.
Payne has great information.
Do yall have a newsletter or website that yall list all of yalls best bets?

@@cutigeralum1 Yep. Quite literally the first sentence in the show notes above.
I get the idea on the returns of investment of Miami spending as much as they are...but isn't that what you'd need to do to break into the big kids club? It's well known that OSU, Georgia and other perennially top end schools don't feel the need to open their pocketbooks to attract the top talent, at least not like Miami's had to. Brian Kelley said the not so quiet part out loud, he and other top end SEC and B1G schools have an expectation to offer a kid less than other schools would have to. That if one comes to him and says "This team offered more," his response (and fairly so) is, "Do you want to win and develop and get paid more later, or get paid more now?"
Maybe Mario's not a good coach (okay he isn't), but I think in modern college football that's not as important as the skill set he does bring. Ryan Day may have finally learned that lesson this year. He kept trying to coach (and honestly Mario should take a page from his book, instill your "in the trenches" culture and leave game day to the people you hired). If Mario is the best recruiter, for whatever reasons, and Miami does somehow win....scratch that, if this is another team doing this, Miami's multiple decades of futility makes it hard to imagine them succeeding. If another team like SMU say spent at much as Miami did not just on players, but on bringing in HOF NFL players and top tier coaches from around the country, spent twice as much as Georgia, but built themselves a team to get to the playoffs. Do you really think that if they continued that success they'd feel as pressured to pay as much? Other teams are having to pay more just to catch up.
If there's no return at Miami that's a fair call out. Anyone not in the top 8 teams this year who are also not investing the way Miami is simply will never catch up. This isn't the 90s and early 2000s where 1990-2005 saw 15 different teams win a title (yes I'm cheating with split titles). This is an era where Georgia's composite recruit/transfer score (247sports) is 41.45 points higher than #8 Oklahoma's. The same gap takes you from #8 Oklahoma to #26 UNC. And it's really an exponential curve. Mario/Miami might not be the right pair to do it, but it's the most likely path for teams currently on the outside looking in. I'd say it's true even for teams in those conferences. A&M has some catching up to do, pretty sure even Texas is paying more on average than other SEC counterparts. If they can win an SEC title, maybe Georgia's going to be forced to start paying, who knows.
Nobody has an issue with Mario and Miami spending as much/more than Georgia and Ohio State at the high school level. In fact, you have to if you want to compete. But Georgia and Ohio State are developing high school kids at a far superior rate, so they don't ALSO have to go the volume route in the transfer portal. In 2022 and 2023 Georgia took 5 total portal players. Ohio State took 10 non kickers over the same period. Mario has taken 43 the last three portal cycles. Nobody recruiting at the high school level the way Miami is ALSO needs to hammer the portal if they have a clue on talent evaluation or could develop talent.
Been looking forward to this for a long time! Ya'll have been more accurate year to year than anyone else I read/listen to.
Appreciate that Will.
Almost 3 hours!
Nuts.
I don’t like assuming, but is Notre Dame going to be broken down in the Big Ten preview?
I know they usually do Notre Dame with the ACC?
You will just have to wait and see, Mike.
@@MikeMonson-fy4kk R-E-L-A-X Mike. Brad's favorite team is Notre Dame, of course they will get a season preview.
3 hours almost? What a gift. I hope SEC is 4 hours.
4 hours will never happen Mike.
It may when the conferences expand to 25 teams each
@@brenthall9629 That would be terrible.
The best in the business came out firing.
Hot out of the box.
Payne has a lot of sources. Knows Cam wards family and how much people are making? WOW.
Very connected.
He doesn’t know anything just making BS up
@@pwrhitterp You can't "just make BS up" when money is on the line but I'm sure that's difficult for a homer with a Miami Hurricane default picture to understand.
@@BetTheBoard so Texas and Oregon not paying recruits it’s just Miami ? Smh there you go again with this BS …. Just because FSU is broke it won’t make me feel bad that Miami has money 😂😂…. Plus it’s been well know for years that the SEC was doing NIL before it was a thing were you bitching then ?
Find me a worst power 4 coach than Mario.
Tough to do.
As a Miami Fan, we should have seen his questionable coaching coming to bite us in the ass.
@@aaronlampkin284 When you hire Mario you know what you're getting; elite recruiter and not much else. If Miami goes onto win 10-12 games and make the CFB playoff things like the Georgia Tech game will all be forgotten.
@@aaronlampkin284”as I Miami fan “ you sound like a b$&ch
Imagine calling Mario a bad coach giving the fact he’s 1 of 3 coaching currently to have won a power 5 conference multiple times , 1 of 2 coaches to have multiple top 5 picks in the NFL draft and Mario has literally won the conference at every job he had … tell me how many coaching can match that?
1:30:00 Miami doesn’t reward loyalty. I don’t like Mario the person in addition to Mario the coach.
Tough to argue with Mike.
What are you talking about?
Loyalty? 😂😂 it’s a business… was Mike Norvell being loyal to rodeamaker by not guarantee him a starting job next yr since he’s been there so long
@@pwrhitterp I think @MikeMonson-fy4kk was clear on what he said.
@@pwrhitterp Why is it when Miami fans hear something negative about Mario they deflect and talk about a rival? Tate Rodemaker was in FSU's program for 4 years and had every opportunity to win a job. He was ahead of Jordan Travis at one point. Rodemaker had the opportunity to take the starting job last year and they thought Brock Glenn was on par and was younger with more upside. Currently Rodemaker is in a QB battle at Southern Miss to start this season.
You can tell Payne didn’t want to come off as homer but Mario is the worst power 5 coach that’s at a big time program. There’s not a close second.
Power 4*
Todd likes to bust Payne's balls about being an FSU guy so Payne has to make sure he doesn't come off that way.
@@MikeMonson-fy4kk Power 4 is going to take time getting used to.
Just say you don’t know football
College football is better when Miami is great !
It brings out all the haters ! 😎
#TheUIsBackToWork 🙌
Hopefully that will be the case for the first time in 20 years.
@BetTheBoard
Considering they didn't invest in the football program for 20 years while everyone else handed bags and cars out and now the playing field has been leveled with Miami buying in again, I like Miami's chances ! 🙌
@@904Hurricane Stunned a guy with "904Hurricane" as his handle likes Miami's chances 😉. Good luck this season.
