I have always wondered how phantom power works. It can be an awesome topic for next videos.

I'll put on the list ;)

The "magic" to Phantom Power is a boost converter to get 48V, two 6,8K 0.1% resistors and two blocking caps to block the DC, there is no magic.

I guess you can also make it for Phantom Powered condenser microphones adding a boost converter and the typical 6.8k reistors and blocking caps.

How about a close-up of complete schematic with values? What you have is to hard to read. Also, what pins of the XLR go where?

That particular amp needs to have a resistor from output to negative to force some current through the output transistors. I see that you have put one in place but it might need to be a bit lower in value. I use a value of 3.7k Otherwise you will have very noticeable crossover distortion. Try 3.7k and see how it sounds. A better op-amp for this application would be a TL072, its much lower noise and distortion and does not need the resistor to negative.

Those microphones do not have 500k-600k ohms of impedence. Its usually around 150-500 ohms. Not 500000 ohms. Just because the current output is really low has nothing to do with how much impedence it has.

yup, my mic has 250ohms and I was confused what he was talking about.

Yes, you are right. No moving coil mic has such high impedance winding; it is usually the 600 ohm standard but can vary from 300 to 450 ohms.

Thanks for video, awesome topic, great project, waiting for phantom power as it mentioned by MrSmotrelkin.

It has a little "Beeping" in the Signal, but otherwise comes the Signal close to the Simply Sound SS1 Preamp.

why do you need battery for this?

What was the name of the Software? Can you download it?

Just connect the LED up to 9V instead of ground. Then it should only light up if the battery gets low. Or switch the input of the opamp around. I guess that should do the same thing. Or add a button to connect the LED only when needed. So many possibilities ;)

      @EcProjects  Před 5 lety +1

Yeah :) the only problem would then be, is it off because it's fine or off because it's completely dead :)

@@EcProjects Well, you'll have your ears to know when it's dead ;)

Hi, i think you doesn't have a ground because you have 60 hz or 50 hz on mic line.

IIIFFFfff, I wanted to make this, I will have to DO VERY BEST to understand the schematic!
It is not really clear, no understandable schematic.
    Unfortunately!
