- Just going over my Prodigy experience and upgrades by Joe at Chambers Custom. I have nothing but great things to say about Joe and his amazing work on this piece. Now Springfield really does need to get it together on their QC.
I've done research on this pistol since it dropped. I ordered the "5 Prodigy today from Proven Arms & Outfitters via their LE/Military Program. I've already contacted Chambers Custom in reference to having the Pro Package Tune Up done. There's plenty of pros & cons video available supporting to buy or not to buy. I'm simply buying to add to my collection of 2011s. The cost is always relative to what the customer wants and not someone else's opinion. Besides why work hard and not enjoy the fruits of your labor. Thanks for the informative breakdown on the Prodigy!
Thanks for the review bud! Great working with you!
Absolutely! Thanks again for making this thing awesome 😎
I may need to send mine in the future 😮
Got my prodigy, threw an RMR and EGW ignition kit in it. First time at the range with it shot roughly 6-700 rounds and had 2 malfunctions. One failure to go in battery and one double feed. It was hauling ass other than that. Gun was running hot but I love mine.
I just bought a 5in Prodigy, and the first 100 shots I got two stove pipes. After that I haven't had an issue I am up to 400 rounds so far. I did just order the Dawson guide rod, the factory 2 piece is a pain to remove and re-install. The gun shoots great, very accurate. I did pick up a Staccato XC, the slide is incredibly smooth, but for $4300, it should be.
I got the 4.25 inches and I have not run with no issues at all I was thinking to get the 5 inches but I saw a lot of people have issues with the 5 inch now with that being said if I am going to spend around 1400 plus send it to the gunsmith and spend another 1000 I think I prefer to get a staccato and get it wright from the beginning unless the gun will perform better than the staccato if not to me don’t make any sense put 1000 dlls on it but that’s my personal intake great video 👍🏻🇺🇸🇺🇸
Nice I watched your "why I got rid of my Staccatos" video and it sent me down the rabbit hole of yours and Joe's videos.
Was a random youtube recommendation, now subbed to your and chambers custom. Good stuff 👍
Much appreciated! More to come
Bought mine in January. Lots of issues with tight chamber. Just sent it off will see how Springfield armory does
Best of luck with it!
How it went
Great video……. Getting mine next week. I usually wait at least a year before I purchase a firearm that’s new to the market but based on feedback/videos, I’m gonna jump out the window. Take a chance. At a $1400 price point, this should function flawlessly out of the box just like $600 pistols. Thanks for sharing… just sub’d
I ADMIRE YOU GUYS! I will get one, but ill wait till someone gets tired of it and pick it up for a grand! My three staccatos have many thousands of rounds, and have yet to have an issue with any of them.
buddy just got the 4.25, and has a list of parts hes gonna change, bringing it to the price of a C2.
i have the 4.25 and just passed 1000 rounds and not a single malfunction. it is dead nuts.
Thanks for the in depth breakdown. I’ll make sure to send folks that ask me about these to this video. Nice work brotha.
Thanks buddy glad it was informational
Price similar to Staccato but worked over by Joe jumps it up. If the plates ever come out the AOS system will be nice. I think the optic will sit lower
I get the arguments about why not just buy something that is better quality out of the gate. However, people buy berettas and send them to Langdon or CZs and send to Cajun GW all the time. Not sure how this is much different. Cool video
It was bought with the intent to use out of the box and swap parts myself and essentially tinker with it where I would not be worried if something went wrong. But out of the box it was having such an issue I sent to Joe chambers so he could see what the issue was and measure it. With it being there I decided to just let him do everything on it to see how different it was and it is like night and day.
I have both 4.25 inch and 5 inch not one problem with them you should have just sent it back to Springfield they would have gave fixed any issue for free and they have good customer service.
I was having the same issues with the chamber. First like 60 rounds, too many malfunctions. I just stopped shooting it all together and set it to the side. I agree though, out the box the pistol should at *least run.

You wanted to take it to a gunsmith?...you took it to just about the best 1911/2011 gunsmith out there
@@tatteredhope911 only the best
Nice review sir.
What kind of side release did he put on? And what length training mag did you purchase. Solid build. Put about 650 round’s through my 4.25 and no issues yet.
It’s a chambers custom slide release. I believe all of the parts are out of his shop minus the spring
I wish I could find a tool less guide rod for my 4.25" version, but everywhere I look online is sold out, and I figured the popularity of the Prodigy and everyone that was getting one was replacing the two piece with a tool less one.
I’d give Dawson precision a call and see if they will have one
@@9mmslinger929 All they have atm is just the 5" length, I keep checking between them and Atlas each week, but continued to be sold out.
Will the 4.4 Dawson precision tool less guide rod work in the 4.25?
I think it would be too long
I just want to go out and buy one !!!
Do it lol
What about the RIA HC?
RIA can be cool there is a company out there that can turn them into some serious contenders
I got lucky almost 1000 rounds no malfunctions
How long did it take to get it back from CC?
A couple months but he is not opening this service as anything regular
I'm in just 2 mags for 250 bucks cuz my state took them away and I have to pay my buddy in Idaho to get them for me. So 1000 for a gunsmith ain't bad lol.
I’m new to the game. Why are people changing their internal to EGW? Which parts are changed? And what is the purpose? Thank you
The parts in it are not quality. I’d pass on egw and get the infinity parts. It’s already fit for it.
@@9mmslinger929 thank u
What trigger is that and do they come in black?
It’s from chambers custom no clue if he does any colors
Hello!!
I would like to kindly ask for your help about the situation we are living here in Brazil. Last Sunday our government changed and we swing from the right to all the way to the left, and the first executive order was to prohibit all the sales of firearms, bullets, powder, components and accessories. They are saying that they will confiscate every rifle cartridge weapons and if you have more then 3 weapons they will take it all from us. And recently CBC (magtech) and TAURUS wrote a strong anti 2a letter pushing for more gun control, asking for the prohibition of gun importation, sale of imported ammo and strong limiting counseled carry. I think that’s really important to spread this message for you all.
Cheers and sorry for the long message. I really hope that you read this.
Have a great year dude!
At that price already 2300 could’ve gotten bad ass Bul armory that will run flawlessly n look 💯🎯or a plane Jane Staccato that will run flawlessly no headaches there’s so many issues wit the prodigy’s don’t understand why people are still buying them🤦🏽♂️n paying 1.4 to1.5+ taxes mind blowing 😂
I bought it when they released and planned on messing with it. Same for every Gucci Glock I suppose and I already owned all of the staccatos. It was just something to do
Who is Joe? Any contact info?
Joe chambers at chambers custom. I don’t believe he is doing any additional prodigy work as his custom builds keep them very busy
Does Joe have a website with pricing?
He’s not taking them in for work this was somewhat of a one off situation so he could measure it from the factory for one of his reviews and was kind enough to work on it for me.
@9mmSlinger yea I jumped on your Instagram and seen that. I'm gonna try to find someone and see if they can duplicate
@@cammedam5230 there’s some smiths out there that I’m sure will complete work in them. Best of luck with it!
@@9mmslinger929 thank you sir
@@cammedam5230 here ay go. he did the work on my prodigy and its awesome. www.youtube.com/@SkipsGunz
For 1500 plus 1000 plus whatever else you had to put into it. I'd rather just buy a Staccacto. Thanks for the vid!
Nice chop stick, sushi much? I still haven't shot mine. But after watching your video I did wiggle my trigger and it definitely has play. I've had it for a few years and bought the hex because the plate that it came with the pistol accepts that. I should have bought the crimson trace. Never mounted the hex. Just now bought the Bushnell RMX 300 and a 14B plate.
I found this video a while back and I highly recommend viewing. It discusses the Cerakote issue with the firearm and I think there is even a second update video. Anyway here is a that video.

Do you have joes contact info
Buying a Staccato would've been cheaper...
WHEN DID EEYORE FROM WINNY THE POOH START DOIN GUN VIDS….LOL…THX…I FOUND MY TRIGGER…CHAMBERS,MED OR SHORT?
That plunk test - yikes
Yep that was no bueno
If you had to do all that to the gun why did you buy it. 🤔 I have one of the first 1000 guns 4.25 put over 5000 rounds through it no failures none it airracks with little effort always has seen a lot of reviews every one bad. So guess it's a shel thing huh.
Lol def not a shill thing. I bought mine day 1. It could not get through a mag without multiple failures. I bought it so I could modify it and use it but it had issues. I sent it to chambers to get reviewed and while there decided to have him work on it. If it’s at one of the top pistol smiths why not have them work on it. Kinda hard to “shill” when it was paid for by me. Not really a fan of buying something that doesn’t work but hey assume what you like lol
Additionally a bull of the problems were with the 5” versions.
@9mmSlinger wow man it's amazing how different one is from the next I guess I just lucked out and got a good one 👍🏻
I don’t know why they even make a 5”. 5” 9mm 1911’s and 2011’s historically have problems. Also, 5” isn’t even needed for a 9mm.
