I loved Hook as a kid and still do as an adult. My 8 year old daughter also loves it. We went to see John Williams Vs Hans Zimmer at Royal Albert Hall and they played the music from Hook it was amazing. Every time I watch Hook or hear the music it takes me back to my childhood.
In between all.the jokes and humour in this interview, you can tell Hook really meant a lot to him and how Important it's message was and how it touched his soul. A very powerful. Interview.
I watch this movie every year. It’s really like a comfort movie for me. Much like many Robin Williams’ movies. Sometimes I remember and I still can’t believe he’s gone 💔
This Movie was/is more than an adventure child Movie-this Movie is simply an masterpiece ,great actors, acting and the soundtrack is amazing -cant belive the critics, this should have won Oscars
i've always loved the film hook since i first saw it on tv. the whole thing about it whisked me away. the imagination of neverland to when he remembers how to fly. whenever i go to dvd stores or book stores and i see "peter pan" titles, i always think of "Williams and Hoffman.....Hook!".
Thanks Robin for the good times. Hook is very much a product of its time, yet it's message and ability to take you away... will echo throughout my lifetime.
Hahaha. Robin would be so fun to just hang out with... His impression of Arnie playing Peter Pan was brilliant... "This is my happy thought... Don't look at it!"
My number one movie of all time. Despite its flaws theres a magic in this film that makes it soar above all others to me. Also very sad to see Robin allude to be an old man looking back on the film.
It was nostalgic for me. I like it for that reason. But, I can definitely see why some would not prefer it over the likes of other films Spielberg released.
such a terrific movie one of speilberg's better films, along with the indiana jones, jaws, and e.t. im glad robin thought it was something special, i do too
you have to realize that he's created a lot of brilliant masterpieces through out the years. There are certain ones that stand out more to him that he views as more special then the others, he doesn't necessarily not think it wasn't special, it's just he views other movies as a bigger triumph in his career, where as actors like Williams would view this as a special movie. If you get what I mean.
regardless, Spielberg has openly admitted that he considers this to be a failure, for some reason he doesnt see how its a success. Its foolish to make comparisons between movies anyway, just because people like movie A more than movie B doesnt mean movie B is bad
He was saying that because he knows Williams potential for improb, and Hoffman's ability to act amazing he could have done a more wittier banter between himself and Pan. Jaws wasn't suppose to feel heartfelt, it was a horror movie, and Spielberge considers that his greatest triumph because no one even knew his name until after that, and no one wanted to work with him before that movie. It was 1 of his hardest achievements, and it cemented his name in the cinema world, going off facts lol
you know the interesting thing about Hook is how Robin Williams Character learns That he is not just Peter Pan himself but also learns that the whole fairy tail is not a fairy tail at all but based on a true story Because there is a Saying I have herd it goes like this. There Are Some Folktales Ghost Stories And Even A Few Fairy Tail That Have Been Around For So Long That Makes You Wonder Is It Because There Popular Or Is It Because Maybe Just Maybe They May Not Be Maid Up. and makes me sad is that Robin Williams is not going to see the book I am writing I am writing a Untold story about Peter Pan and Captain Hook about how they both become who they are and how they first meet and how there conflict began because Think About It We All Know The Story Of Peter Pan We All Know Who Both Peter Pan and Captain Hook Are Peter Is The Boy Who Wont Grow Up Hook Is A Pirate He Does Not Like Peter Pan Because Peter Maid Him Lose His Hand To A Crocadile But We Have Never Known What Happen Before That so I thought I write a untold story about that. and I was hoping Robin Williams would read it when I finish it but since he died he wont That Is What Makes Me Sad About His Passing.
I'm so glad that Robin thinks that Hook was something special, I dont understand how Steven Spielberg doesnt realise that what he had accomplished was (in my opinion) one of the greatest movies ever made. Those critics only saw the stars, the budget, the action scenes and completely missed the magic of Barrie's creation which runs through the whole thing
I'll never get grown-up reviewers who absolutely trash children's movies (unless they would include something truly offensive). Something that is meant to be wholesome and pure and sweet becomes the target of bullies, I think, who can't accept goodness for what it is because they feel they've lost it entirely in themselves. Ironically, it's kind of like how the grown-up Peter was in the beginning of the film. I've always liked Hook as a children's movie; it's entertaining with a good message for families and actually some really great set designs. And, of course, Robin is perfect for the role because he captures the magic of childhood and finding the wonder in everything.
In my opinion I think Robin Williams and Arnold Schwarzenegger would be good in a movie together too Bad that can’t happen oh well such is life but anyway rest in peace Robin Williams rest in peace amen
yeah thats a fair comment but you've got to admit that films like Jaws are very much lacking in the kind of heartfelt meaning that this film is choc full of. Surely as the director of it he should realise that and stop complaining that he should have gotten Robin Williams to tell more jokes and rubbish like that
why is Hook underrated? It is actually my fav movie
+Shadydan05 I don't know. Spielberg hated it, why???
Mattias Åkemalm yeah I know, but whatever i always go for my opinion, not someone else's (ratings etc) lol
"Dorothy, come over here. Look! No underwear!" LMAO. Even tho he's gone, he is STILL making us laugh. RIP Robin.
🤣🤣🤣🤣

Hook is the only one real peter pan in my mind.
I'm in debt with that movie for giving me what it gave me.
My number one movie of all time. Despite its flaws theres a magic in this film that makes it soar above all others to me. Also very sad to see Robin allude to be an old man looking back on the film.
"Here's my happy thought! Don't look at it..." Robin is soooo funny!
🤣🤣🤣🤣
And it really have a dept-an mixture of sad and happy scenes!
7months...wow!!!
It was nostalgic for me. I like it for that reason. But, I can definitely see why some would not prefer it over the likes of other films Spielberg released.
Robin never gave interviews, he gave private performances ❤
Great movie to watch in Christmas !!
in my opinion you should first see the 2003 peter pan before this ..
AMAZING FILM !!

Rip Robin Williams
I completely agree with you Aspilurch.

i LOVED it too!
Great film! A classic!
Will Smith would never top Robin as Genie! No fucking way!
Robin Williams looks like Mrs. Doubtfire.

Christopher MacCool Agreed.
Christopher MacCool Make sure your book includes the Neverland mermaids. The mermaids in Hook were so beautiful.
Cat Peach will do and I will make them the way they look in Hook very Hot and attractive.
Cat Peach and agreed about what the first part about what I said In Hook.

It's all in taste, these same people think Twilight was a triumph in cinema lol
Yeah right, My dads terminator“😅.
Not really. Hook had bad reviews from back since 1991. Most notably by Roger Ebert.
r.i.p. :((((((
