  • The directors are the ones that are the brains of the film business. They have to be artistic as well as technically oriented. They have to be motivational coaches and task masters. The have the eye of a great painter/photographer. Steven Spielberg is all the above and more.
In this interview Robin Williams decided to come on in to distrupt our intelligent conversation...

"I'm a terrible critic, I like everything. That's my problem. I find good in everything."
    Spielberg is the best.

While not a perfect film, there are so many iconic and magical moments that the imperfections can easily be overlooked. Hook is a classic.

Good interview. Hook is an awesome movie. My childhood favorite. I'm with Jimmy, it is a classic.

Hook isn't perfect, but it's got heart with some great moments and ģot more of a critical beating than it deserved. I'd watch Hook over a hundred other movies out there today.

As I get older I basically accept that it was just boring grownups that were writing the bad reviews, for a kids movie that wasn’t made for them.
All the kids of the time myself included absolutely loved it.

Steven was a Father to a generation of kids born in the 70s. Artistically, figuratively and literally in some cases. His movies can help heal hurt kids. Such a special human he is. All love from me ❤ Hook is so full of heart energy in a very good way. We'll never forget it :)

Spielberg has often talked about how nerve racking he finds directing, and that it’s when he goes into panic mode that he gets his best ideas.

It's crazy because Spielberg didn't like Hook but as a millennial I really love Hook indeed it's not perfect and it's sugary and cheesy but it has heart and charm and is magical. As an adult that grew up with it I really like it and appreciate it

Hook is the result of Michael Jackson going radio silent on Steven as Steven was preparing him to star in his Peter Pan movie + making Hook the focus of the re-written film, as so much talent was booked for this film this summer + the shift from filming on location to shooting on stage + Jim Cameron shooting a movie that was twice as big across town. The irrepressible Steven was simultaneously shooting on multiple stages with multiple actors, with Steven golf-carting it between stages, oft calling out to his Assistant Director, "Why aren't we shooting?" It was a scramble.

Interesting, in other words the more unhappy you are as a director in your personal life = better movies. Speilberg happy = Crappy films like Hook.
