  • Your friend’s address. A family holiday as a child. The name of that lady you see at work every day. Memory is our ability to recall information from the recent or distant past. But can what we eat affect how well it works?
Kimberley Wilson, a psychologist with a master's degree in nutrition, looks at the food and drink that can have a surprisingly positive effect on improving our memory, and those that can do it harm.

Fish could be replaced by other sources of Omega 3, like ground flax seeds, chia seeds, walnuts, and algae based DHA/EPA supplements. The largest organization of nutrition professionals officially declared- "It is the position of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics that appropriately planned vegetarian, including vegan, diets are healthful, nutritionally adequate, and may provide health benefits for the prevention and treatment of certain diseases.
These diets are appropriate for all stages of the life cycle, including pregnancy, lactation, infancy, childhood, adolescence, older adulthood, and for athletes. Plant-based diets are more environmentally sustainable than diets rich in animal products because they use fewer natural resources and are associated with much less environmental damage.
*Vegetarians and vegans are at reduced risk of certain health conditions, including ischemic heart disease, type 2 diabetes, hypertension, certain types of cancer, and obesity.*
Low intake of saturated fat and high intakes of vegetables, fruits, whole grains, legumes, soy products, nuts, and seeds (all rich in fiber and phytochemicals) are characteristics of vegetarian and vegan diets that produce lower total and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol levels and better serum glucose control. These factors contribute to reduction of chronic disease. Vegans need reliable sources of vitamin B-12, such as fortified foods or supplements." -Full abstract from the position paper as found on PubMed from the National Institutes of Health

OK we’re getting somewhere. I have some follow up questions for you. 1) can we be sure those “improved memory scores” were the result of eating fruit or the result of not being malnourished? 2) can you cite actual studies or just say that “studies show” because you’re reading a script? My Grandmother ate what the government recommended and still got Alzheimer’s even though she worked everyday, even though she was really smart she even forgot me, one of her closest grandkids. She had no idea who I was. She wasn’t a smoker or drinker so you can’t blame that and she wasn’t lazy So lifestyle is completely eliminated from causation. Maybe the grains and sugar whether refined or carbohydrates are to blame? Some have speculated that Alzheimer’s is caused by oxidation in our brains and not cooking in aluminum, copper or iron cookware would’ve prevented this, would it have? They claim stainless steel would’ve prevented it but you have a proven source of dangerous chromium in stainless steel, so no it’s no better. So cook on glass only? Well it’s a thought but glass can be troublesome too from certain heavy metals used to give glass its colors.

In my humblest of experience, processed foods including the food products that contain additives and preservatives or have undergone controlled environment processes to synthesize a longevity of shelf time, are, at more instances then otherwise, produced as taste enhancers, meant to increase immediate appreciativeness to food consumption beyond simply the nourishment requirement. This in itself is metabolism enhancing, and helps sustaining an optimal motor functionality for saliva and enzyme secretion, conjuring a practiced neural backdrop for concentrated eating and thus promoting our body to stay dynamically creative with the mixing of gastric juices and digestive metabolism to extract energy and nutrients from these concentratively and fondly eaten superlative foods, mostly of which hold a diverse nutrient mix, in addition to their prime nutrition carrier on virtue of their supermarket validity. As I mentioned, yeah, a certain category of processed food items are simply meant for superlative taste and flavour gratification, yet every decent healthy body has a modulation spectrum to accommodate such escapades when a balanced, and regionality and favoured biosystem aligned nutritional diet remains at least deferred constant in the dietary repertoire. From this dedicated perspective, a lot to do is with the way a body has been trained, and that craftily balanced and experience acquired diversity with which the taste and eating instincts have been made to evolve over the years from the infancy; and thus ideally if the foods that have always been part of a diet retain a regular consistency of sorts in the diet, the most staunch of the dietary habits too can be made inclusive. The only factor that can be attributed to nutrition to benefit congestion can be over accumulation of disposable energy which lot many categories of processed foods and the all hoarding supermarket and food joint culture can be sarcastically attributed to, and this disposable energy, not disposable income, energy... that the body organically demands to dissipate, responding to it as it would while preparing for a lean period of nutritional intake and that leads to certain noticeable health symptoms, including over sweating, digestive imbalance, over eating, sleep pattern shifts, surplus accumulation of fats, lethargy and depleted concentration. And these symptoms can be countered simply by good physio-psychological well being and healthy and nurturing intimacy, and the achieved benefits can be further enhanced through regular gymnasium practices like weight and aerobic exercises, and swimming, or by regular sessions of concentrated energy invested outdoor activities like cycling, burst jogging, trekking and brisk walking and even long drives and rides. The social and soft cultural aspect of processed food should also be included in this ideation, as the sites of their sales and serving remain the leading sites of social interaction, and urban recreation; an essential binding feature of the otherwise fast paced, individualistic living patterns that were the prevalent trends of the last generation of urban centers around the world. Pardon me for writing so much, yet considered this thought feebly contributing to the theme ideation of this motion feature. Salute'

Some types of dietary fiber (e.g., inulin) promote the production of butyrate in the gut which can improve brain function by decreasing inflammation, improving blood-brain barrier function, increasing insulin sensitivity, etc.

Cocoa powder is a great alternative to chocolate, since no sugar is added. Be sure to get the kind that is not "Dutched" for best effect.

    Memory boosting food

  • @holgerjrgensen2166

Memory is NOT in our brain.
    And in our current Developing-Circuit,
    Memory is for down-going, (Minimum-performance)
but the up-going Intelligence will fully compense.
Yaeh, living=fresh food is better for our overall development.
    Memory/store, recall/Instinct, + Feeling and Intelligence,
Power=Gravity is also a part of mental functions.

I feel bad for kids growing up on processed foods. It can affect their future forever. I was one of them.
I'm shocked that processed foods can decrease appetite control. Makes sense actually
