- In this week's Sound for Video Session, we'll walk through how I set up the Sound Devices MixPre for live streams with multiple people, using MixAssist and possibly NoiseAssist. We'll also answer your sound for video questions.
If you’d like to learn how to make great dialogue audio for your film and video projects, please have a look at my courses at school.learnli... including processing dialogue audio in Adobe Audition and DaVinci Resolve/Fairlight, recording sound, how to use the Zoom F4, F6, F8, and F8n, and how to get the most from the Sound Devices MixPre series of recorders. We have a course on sound for live-streaming with the ATEM Mini and just added Introduction to Izotope RX for Dialogue Audio.

Love tour videos but ive never seen anyone do a video about the x1/x2 outputs. How did you split x1 and x2? Splitter? Any recommendations?
I didn't split the output, I routed a L+R mix via x1/x2 output to an ATEM Mini switcher which also has 3.5mm mic/line inputs. If you need to split the 3.5mm x1/x2 output, yes a splitter cable should work.
Thank you, Curtis!
Important to mention - allow me to say so - is also to set your channel outputs on approximately 50%. As you did (9:59) too for channel 1, 2 and 3.
Yes, faders to 0 at the start.
Enjoyed this session, Curtis. First one I've been able to catch live. Thanks for answering my question too!
Thanks for watching and for the question!
@@curtisjudd my pleasure - you’ll be happy to know that less and less of what you present is going over my head these days - so your videos and courses are obviously having some decent impact 😆
👍
Hi Curtis, thanks for this video. I have a quick question -- Can I use the built-in Slate mic in the mixpre 10 as a talkback? I'm doing a lot of classical location recording, and it would be great to amplify my voice when calling takes to the musicians when I am in bigger spaces. Can that be routed in some clever way? Or maybe there's a better solution?
Yes, you can, you'll just need to route it to the output you'll use for the stage/studio speaker.
