This is unbelievable. How many Western artists from that day and age took the time to learn a song in Japanese? This is so adorable and how can you not love this? I miss her so much. What a great singer.
The greatest loss to the music industry ever. Japanese, spanish, english. Just as beautiful in any language. Too bad they weren't appreciated as they should have been while she was alive! KAREN,The greatest singer ever. Thank You Karen!!!!
Holy crap! She's singing this in Japanese!? I was starting to sing along and I realized I was saying something wrong and when I listned... WOW this is awesome!
@Richard EA just a bit of a trivia. One of the japanese children who performed with Karen in Osaka has a sister who was a member of Japanese all-female rock band called 5.6.7.8 They even performed in Kill Bill movie
@@john2nite528 I want to apologize for not getting back in touch with you. I have been very busy and on the road a lot. This is quite interesting piece of news! We probably never know who these adorable girls turned out to be. However, I do know this. These girls will never forget the true blessing they encountered when being taught a song by a beautiful lady who cared deeply for them. Karen mentioned in one of their concerts during the "Sing, Sing a Song " performance that the song came from Sesame Street. She talked about Big Bird and Kermit. My mom went to high school with the creator of the "Muppets" , Mr. Jim Hansen, while she lived in Maryland suburbs of Washington D.C. 😎
I was a very small child when this song was popular. And Karen Carpenter is so good with children💛💐🌹! It is so sweet that she's saying the song saying in Japanese💛💐🌹! I'm sure the Karen carpenters in heaven now singing with the angels!🙏🙏💛💐🌹 I wish I could have met Karen Carpenter when I was a child.🌹💐🌹
I just ran across this... I have been married to a Japanese family for 20 years and they LOVE the carpenters (one of the few things we have in common) I cant wait for them to see this :)
Very nice except that you can clearly see just how thin Karen was in this clip. Her arms and shoulder bone is nothing but bones...so very sad. An angels voice Karen Carpenter had. We were so blessed to have her here with us the time we had.
I watched the video when she performed in Japan in 1974, this is in Japan 1976 and look what two years did to her!She looked healthier in '74, her arms looks so thin it's painful to watch her like this knowing it's too late to do anything. Thank you for all the music Karen but you left too soon!
Yeah she sings this song in Japanese when she's in Japan if you download the one from 1974 it's a lot better quality a lot better picture same exact song you will see that she looks so much better as far as her health when I seen that one and then I seen this when I was like oh my God look at her she looks so different her voice is still beautiful of course but you can see how she started to deteriorate a little bit stay safe thank you for the download God bless bye
Just visited and walk around festival hall yesterday. What a great feeling that Karen was in the same place singing this incredible album back in 76’s. Her voice carries on
Karen can make any language seem simple to learn. She just sings and her music flows into your heart! Beautiful! Miss her music being played on the radio. Great times and great tunes! :-)
A beautiful song... it's from Sesame Street. It's actually a song for children. It's totally nice that the Carpenters did that, too. It's so lovely seeing Karen and Richard together with children. ❤ I love it! The Carpenters were so wonderful. Both so nice and gifted... I admire and adore them very much. Thank God for Richard and Karen! Thank you for so many great, timeless and unfogettable songs!
Karen of the Tokyo concert two years ago is very healthy, but in 1976 Osaka 's performance she was surprised by the fierce fight. 2年前の東京コンサートのカレンはすごく健康的だが、1976年の大阪公演の彼女の激やせぶりに驚きました。
Wow. So many comments you could make about this that none of them seems adequate. But I'll say this: there are many videos I love, and some I adore. But there are a very, very few that make me sad that when I'm dead some day, I won't be able to watch this video any more.
I like music in all languages and rythms, 'cos music liberate our enchained soul and let it go around the universe freely. Music is the language of free spirits and is deeply founded in the Nature.
Did you see the 1972 concert with another Japanese childrens' choir? She looks so fit and healthy there. And her face is absolutely beautiful. Stunning lady. What a difference four years make... Not to her voice but to her health. There will never be another Karen.
SING uta wo- koe wo- awase !!!! Kanashii koto wo Wasureru tame SING uta wo Shiawase ga kuru youni! Ookina koe wo dashi Hazukashi ga razu JUST SING, SING A SONG !!!!! lalalalalalalaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

I think it means "That's scary, isn't it?" Sore wa means "that". I don't know the word for sky. "Kumo" is cloud or spider, depending on the pronunciation. I'm just amazed hearing Karen sing in Japanese.
Karen sings "Sing" in Japanese. (Japanese lyrics) Sing utaou koewo awase kanashiikoto wasurerutame Sing utaou shiawasega kuruyouni ookina koewo dashi hazukashigarazu Just sing, sing a song
it makes me sad and happy when i listen to this one but is there a good quality version of this or the whole japan tour version, i have been looking on utube for 5 years to find it
Is that year really 1976?? I didn't think computers or CZcams even existed at that time. Of course, I know that machines and technology existed sense the 40/50s, but I don't think big video websites started until the late 80s early 90s; like 86 or 94.
@tinagetmetheaxe actually there are a few< Earth wind and fire is another, who thought it was important to give back to the Japanese CUlture and every culture they visited. Artists just were more talented and had more class then.
Since Karen is American and singing in Japanese....I'm confused. Do you automatically start speaking Japanese because you are in japan? Or is she singing English but it has an electronic singing language converter? If she was speaking English without the converter could a Japanese person even hear her words or much less see her because she is American & in another dimension considering she is dead now. Please help me understand.
My Grandfather fought in WW2 and has no hatred for the people he fought. Why do you hate them so much? Where you even alive back then or just another bigot who makes excuses for his hatred?
ほんとに日本語の発音きれい!!

This is unbelievable. How many Western artists from that day and age took the time to learn a song in Japanese? This is so adorable and how can you not love this? I miss her so much. What a great singer.
Even in another language, her tonality, and emotional expression is absolutely flawless.
The people of Japan love her. I even heard a piece of Calling Occupants in the last Wolverine movie. I guess her music still lives there. :)
Alma Guillotありがとうございます。 Karenは日本人の心の中に生きております
Alma Guillot Karen loved too.
The greatest loss to the music industry ever. Japanese, spanish, english. Just as beautiful in any language. Too bad they weren't appreciated as they should have been while she was alive! KAREN,The greatest singer ever. Thank You Karen!!!!
I was around then and if you were, too, you would know that they most certainly were appreciated!!! and especially when Karen was still around, too!!!
Thats pretty impressive. There is no female singer today that can match her voice let alone sing in Japanese.
Holy crap! She's singing this in Japanese!? I was starting to sing along and I realized I was saying something wrong and when I listned... WOW this is awesome!
Its been 9 years Michelle, just as thrilling back then as it is today.
12 years and still thrilling
I just cannot fathom any sound that is more precious than this -- Karen and the Children are adorable, and MAGNIFICENT ....
You can tell she loved children. ❤🌹

How old are you? Of course we had computers back then. Look at NASA.😎
