Hello Ms. Karla, thank you for sharing your honest and raw experiences in Japan. I have a question for you and I hope you'll notice this. Hmmm... how do you make friends easily? I'm new in my prefecture and most of the ALTs are non-native and mostly are guys.. there are girls but they seem to have a life of their own already. I tried reaching out but a follow through of hanging out makes me shy. It's summertime and I have a lot of downtime and I really want to get to know at least one of them. Your tips and advice will be a great help. Thank you and take care!

Maybe you can try a lapel mic when teaching? I remember my teacher from high school was also having problems talking to large or noisy crowd and it's straining her throat so much so she decided to use a wireless lapel mic. One of the features is that you can adjust the volume of the mic to make it louder.

I don’t think it’s allowed in JP to be honest. The private school I worked in the Philippines doesn’t allow it too 🥲

I had to come home for some family matters but because I didn’t have an OEC, I wasn’t assured of going back to my job.
So now, I am scrambling for ways to go back legally in the eyes of the Philippine government. :)))
