  • I've been asked by so many on this channel what type of welder i use to build my sculptures, well at last i got round to doing a video.
If your interested in getting into welding whether its for Professional or recreational use, you really are spoiled for choice when you look at a Sealey.

Mine is the Sealey mighty mig 150 and it welds perfectly. Quite a few people in the UK do not like them because of the plasticky feel to them, but regardless of build quality they are astounding machines. I am going to do a series of videos using a Sealey 150 to show the quality of the welds both flat and vertical on different thicknesses of steel. I also have a spool of flux core wire that I am putting through it at the moment - building a rocket stove, and it leaves no spatter! Really impressed with it.

Nice video and very informative. I have used many different welders in my working career. But now for my sculptures I just use a cheap fluxcore welder with .030 wire. A lot of cleanup but cheap to use.

I bought a second hand Sealey Supermig 180 a couple of years ago and never really got into it. I had different advice on the best gas type to use - what is the general 'go to gas type' for mild steel welding?
I need some instruction on how to weld and will follow channels like yours...by the way, I think your sculpture creations are talented works of art.

I've tried bouncing back and forth between the welding and grinding setting on my helmet, and far too many times I've forgotten to go back to the weld settings and wound up flashing myself. I've personally made it a point to use a separate helmet for grinding. I wish I could use just one helmet, but it just doesn't work for me.
