Gerber Prodigy | AFFORDABLE fixed blade EDC!

- This Gerber Prodigy is a home run in my opinion. Small and lightweight, yet durable and comfortable. One of the few fixed blades I'm comfortable wearing as an EDC. Find it in plain edge or serrated. Hard to find a quality American made knife at an affordable price like this. Great for survival, camping, hiking, hunting, or EDC on the farm or job site.

I just picked one up for $45 @ Walmart. Happened to be walking by the knife counter and saw it marked @ that price. It was missing the box and last one in stock. Didn't need the box anyways so what a deal!

I have had this knife on my belt for about 8years now. I've made some small mods to it, to make it more EDC savvy.
I rounded over the pommel, filed down the top guard, and took that dastardly nylon off the sheath.
I love the knife. I need to by another, before they're really gone, and mine BY CHANCE meets it's end. Though doubtful
That stripped down sheath is a great idea

Got the prodigy for 40 bucks on blade hq!!!! They are all sold out now but they had them on clearance so I had to get one. I put it on my plate carrier

Great sheath mod, I am really impressed.
Walmart stopped selling these (because the strongarm took over) I got mine new for $35.
I had my both strongarm and prodigy .
Prodigy fit my hand better . I returned the strongarm . I got rid of the nylon also and riveted a dangler to the plastic . Thats how I mostly carry it . I also did the carry thru the holes in the sheath . I fold the dangler down and run my belt thru the sheath and the dangler belt loop . When I go into a store or dont want the knife seen the dangler alows me to stick the knife in my front pocket . Untucked t shirt it disapears .

Cut the nylon off of mine too. Used a black elastic shoe lace so I can Scott carry it (works best for me). Waiting on the Strong arm (47 bucks on Amazon)cause I'm curious to see if it truly is a step up from my very much liked Prodigy! Subscribed too btw...

@@Mouthpiece985 not hardly. No "China" box or discrepancies in the package. My son has a couple strongarm, serrated and regular and, side by side, even the tell tale sheath were identical. But, I say no you say yes... Well, we have the right to believe what we want don't we?

They are actually the same blade. Look up the Tang picture for those knives.
I had one of these until it was stolen out of my truck. its a nice knife but i would consider it too large for edc, for me at least. I replaced it with a gerber strongarm, similar but i think a little better, little more expensive too. great camp/ outdoors belt knife though.
I'm left handed. Prefer an ambidextrous sheath. Great
You should also check out the KABAR BK18 cause it can do what the Gerber does but it's better at deer skinning.
Sadly Kabar has much foreign crap like Gerber. I’d buy a USA blade before overseas blades

I’ll have to try the sheath thing , I like to carry scout style in front , I’ve been doing it with all the web gear in place , but I’m not crazy about it , generally wear a wide gun belt so I’m not sure I’ll have enough real estate

Works like a champ ! The hilt sticks out a little more than I care for , but I’m thinkin the addition of a Velcro strap around the belt and hilt will pull it right in , still mulling that over .
I’ve wanted one of those to abuse forever I love the look of it and in the hand it feels great,I need to just put some coin down on one
