Shorewood in southwest suburban Chicago hit hard by Monday night's storms

Residents of Shorewood in southwest suburban Chicago were assessing the damage and cleaning up early Tuesday morning after Monday night's storms hit the town hard. A tornado confirmation there is still pending a survey by the National Weather Service.

Last night's weather was crazy. I no longer have a basement and had to hunker in my bathtub when the sirens went off.

I was sitting on my porch watching the radar and listening to the sirens. . . then pfft nothing much happened. The cells went north and south of us.

I was outside recording the lightning when I looked over this street and saw dark clouds moving in a circular pattern, a stark contrast against the bright lightning. It started on the corner and was headed towards 55.

Only seconds? What? That line was strong and getting more organized many hours before getting here.
TV stations were covering it uninterrupted since is was DeKalb (or before). SMH.
