I love the large and tall size of this jounral. Also it's gorgeous. Get yourself an old telephone book or a piece of wood to use when you punch your holes. I used to do Taekwondo so I use one of the boards I broke in half when I punch holes for signatures and through the spine. I just poke through the paper right into the wood. That way I don't have to worry about poking my finger.
I really really love this project. Your masterboard is absolutely gorgeous and the papers you used in the signature make my heart sing. That grungy envelope is the perfect addition!! And your metal elements add fabulous texture. You get an A+ on this one!!!

Hi Barbara. I always love your videos. 💖 Your creativity is inspiring. Thank you for sharing. When you are sewing in the signature and want the threads to be tied on the outside, you can start sewing on the outside going in. Your tail thread will be on the outside so your ending thread will be on the outside so you would be able to leave your fabric sticking out of the top and bottom.

I love your videos. Gayle Agostenilli always collages the back of her master boards with random blank paper so if they work cut into tags and journal cards. Something like that might help with thickness.

Oh I always cut the legs off brads and glue them on to the book plate. Oh you're a danger to yourself Mrs😄.I got that cropadile for my birthday yesterday and I can't believe how well thought out and sturdy it is! Very impressed. I haven't seen those metal ornaments here in the uk, they're really pretty. The cover is gorgeous 😍💖

This is wonderful! I have been watching your older videos trying to find something to put in a journal to hold and showcase photos, a map and some other ephemera I picked up while visiting a lovely old cemetery in Savannah, Georgia. I can make a portfolio like your journal cover. The large pocket will hold the map and I can make smaller pockets to hold the bookmark, and then mount photos on the other sections. Thanks for the inspiration!
This is lovely. Just a thought - you could have covered the book pages with something transparent such as velum or tracing paper or sewing pattern paper.
Beautiful work and very timely video! I did make a master board following your instructions and it has just been sitting here. I actually made two. One was used for making tags. So, now I can takle making a journal out of the other one.. Thank you for breaking down the process and making it simple and inspiring.

For the end of the binding/stitching maybe you could try looping through on the inside to make a small knot to secure the thread and then going out through the same hole so both ends are on the outside. I hope that's not confusing, it's kind of hard to explain and I've never tried it x

Baby girrrlll 😁 Hi sweetheart. What you just did is exactly what I need help doing, specifically using a five-hole pamphlet stitch that comes and goes at the top so I can hang hangy, dangly things. If you 'member I'm making a tall, skinny journal too and had the same width problem with a few of the pages, but it didn't occur to me to stitch another page on like you did. I took two skinny (3" skinny!) papers and lined up them side by side and attached them to each other with micropore medical tape, and that's where I'll sew it into the sig. Hi B - I just got the we-r-memories crop-a-dile and can't yet figure out now to unlock it from the closed position. LOL. Oh Tina has a great way to make make envelopes small, cutting them a bit wider, marking the extra and botcutting off the top layer, folding it closed with bottom layer so that you have the actual look of the envelope with for double sides on all sides.
There is a round silver lock symbol on one side that you can push. On one side it shows the lock open and on the other closed. You can just push the side with the open luck to unlock it. I hope that makes sense!
Absolutely. It's open now (although it's with me bed) and I will go make some holes in some things in a bit. I also have the big one but it freaks me out. Thx Barbara. Have a good week-end. I love, love, love this journal. The pages are so beautiful! I can’t wait to see how you did this dying effect to the papers. You are so creative and fun to watch on video. Thanks for sharing! So here’s a little tip for stitching so you have the end of your threads on the outside. If you start on the outside of the journal and have your first stitch go from outside to inside, you won’t need to go over the top of your journal. I love adding dangles to the outside. :)

I love, love, love this journal. The pages are so beautiful! I can’t wait to see how you did this dying effect to the papers. You are so creative and fun to watch on video. Thanks for sharing! So here’s a little tip for stitching so you have the end of your threads on the outside. If you start on the outside of the journal and have your first stitch go from outside to inside, you won’t need to go over the top of your journal. I love adding dangles to the outside. :)
