    Tip: Try boiling 4 to 5 cinnamon sticks when you are boiling coffee 4 color dying, and it only takes 15 minutes once it starts boiling. The incredible aroma will last 4 years because of their acidity, and you can also drink it. Enjoy! :-) love this idea of working with envelopes. It turned out beautiful! :-)

    I love the new ideas using envelopes! I've been dying paper with avocado for a few months, and I love it. What works best for me is using only the pits and not the skins. I like that the color is more of a true pink and less of a salmon color--also, it's a little less messy without the skins. I don't use vinegar. Also, it's easier for me to bake the paper than to try to find places to dry it. I also like the texture better. I'm no expert, but this is the method that works best for me. Thanks for showing us new methods and techniques. I just love your videos!

    I once used the pips and skins of 4 of the green type avocado's, and although the liquid was a greenish colour the papers (printing paper) came out a very deep terracotta colour! I was totally amazed.😮

    all those avocados, too pricey for my budget but I bet they were delicious! One beet gives a lovely light pink dye (or canned beets) with vinegar to set the dye and is easier on the budget. I love the envelope book and made 2 so far. Thanks for sharing your talent with us.

  • @dawnc8755

    When I tried avocado dying, my papers were not dark enough. So I dyed them twice. The first time I soaked them in a water bath and dried them naturally. The second time I used a sprayer to cover the papers with dye and left them to dry in between layers of deli paper. The deli paper kept the papers wet a very long time (which was not my intention, but awesome) which intensified he color and also created some cool wrinkly-looking sections on the paper.
    When I dye with coffee or walnut ink, I use a sprayer instead of a water bath to get more speckle spots. I really like that look also! I think the distress stains are still available, but as a sprayer instead of a dabber bottle.

    • @49dragonflies
      @49dragonflies  Před 4 lety +1

    Hi Barbara, I'm new to your channel but am addicted to it the last few weeks. With regards to lifetime membership, we pay that secret price and we have access to images/tutorials etc forever? I wish I could see some of the kits but am assuming it'll have the ones you've used in your projects? Just want to be sure before I jump into it 😊. You are very talented, I love your style!

      Hello, yes, you have access to everything on the site forever! You can check out all the lists just going to digitalcollaheclub.com. You just can’t download them until you get the membership. It’s so worth it, I promise!

    You can so easily make that stain yourself using acrylic paint -- cheap is fine -- match the color to the cheapest little bottle of acrylic paint -- honestly, expensive brands will not work better than the cheapest -- then dilute it with water and add about a teaspoon of white school/pva glue -- cheap is fine -- if you want it to sparkle, you can add some gold eye shadow or any in the honey-coloured tint you like that has sparkles in it -- don't add glitter, it will clog up your nozzle -- you can add it to one of those small spray bottles -- or if you have an empty like hair spray bottle -- shake and spray and you have your colour -- adding the white vinegar just helps to hold the colour, like when you dye easter eggs - in fact, you could probably make this colour with yellow food colouring and add a little red to it -- I would still add the pva glue, it will help hold the molecules together -- I joined your website last night -- I look forward to discovering everything there -- cheers, Patricia

    So much fun to watch! I am so inspired by your ideas and approach. I was wondering if you need a special operator’s license for those scissors you use 😊 Also, my grandkids so excited to see the AIW journal, they’re begging to make their own based on your videos.
