I guess in this setting, Charlie is taking on the role of "Devil's Advocate" in the sense that in Catholicism, the Devil's Advocate argues against canonizing a new Saint, and in this case, Charlie is taking is a step further to argue that none of the Sinners deserve a second chance at redemption.
extremely fitting in a way since her father is the Devil himself
the interpretation i landed on when sending this to a friend is that adam went down willingly to save the sinners from this version of charlie, who i speculate might have made some kind of deal to get out of hell. Based on design id also say this charlie might also be more blood thirsty than our own, so purhaps the exterminations are her venting that blood lust.
just speculations tho just based on what little we see and the usual trends in swap aus from other fandoms

Thank you!!! I was so confused as to what Charlie's role was/what she was even doing in Heaven(seeing as she had the Eldritch horror styled powers) But "Devils Advocate" is actually really interesting! All this to say thank you for helping clear up Charlie's role XD
A channel made a cover of this song in spanish, and in the lyrics we can see that (I don´t know if that applies to the original idea) in this AU, the heaven is overpopulated, so the Heaven send demons to exterminate the angels so they would be send to Hell, Adam is searching the way to redeem the sinners, because well, God forgives everything and all that, without knowing that the Heaven is working with Hell to send angels to suffer for the eternity regardless of their actions, and yeah, in the au Lute is a demon in disguise

Nah, this is how Adam would accurately be depicted. After his Death and later returning to Heaven. Just consistently trying to prove that all of his Son's, His Daughters, Us Children are still worth trying to be saved. Even if it means pulling them out of hell.
What I love about this au is how it theologically made sense.
Adam committed the original sin. He’s technically what sets things off in hell.
Suddenly, the whole redemption business is not just for the sinners but for himself as well.

Adam really does draw such a stark contrast here. He's mortally worried for other people, he's humble, trying to keep composure before a malicious court - his subtilty and kindness makes him stand out - he's a man I want to follow and root for. From one appearance I can just tell what Charlie's inverse is like - her discordant appearance, the way she moves herself through space, forcibly grabbing Lute, getting right into interlocker's faces - Charlie's malicious alter-ego is *her* own. This feels like it's how it would be in this universe.
Everyone is saying about how hot Adam is in this suit, but damn, Lute is looking great with her new style

I like to think that Adam in this universe isn’t a sinner but is some kind of attorney/agent of heaven who temporarily goes down to hell where he creates his own version of the “hazbin hotel” to prove that demons can be redeemed

I could interpret this as: God/Eve/Lute told him, or he's convinced himself to not trust angels because of his experience with Lucifer (a literal Seraphim). Also, I must say that lots of angels are kinda zesty, and the fact that Adam knows about the exterminations might be also another reason to not trust them at all.

I love Charlie’s design here so, so much. Her hair, her outfit, the red “tentacle” things and oh my gosh, her EXPRESSIONS.
Interesting take on Adam (who is basically human now rather than an exorcist angel) as caring for his people and not enjoying harming them as his official counterpart in the main timeline.
Meanwhile, Charlie... oh my goodness... this Charlie is a monster unlike her official (main timeline) counterpart.
this take on Adam is how most iterations of Adam would go, majority people in vision Adam as like a ultimate good guy
the swap au is kinda like how you'd expect the characters to be
you'd imagine the daughter Lucifer would be a menace so we have this version of Charlie to get a taste of that
most would think Adam is a good guy so we have this Adam to give an idea of that
and we even saw in another video by this person that Vox is more of a menace than Alastor (Video killed the Radio star vibes)
really shows how the canonical series attempts it's best to not be predictable or too cliche to the point many characters are in positions you wouldn't expect them to be in
I love how when the high point hits due to Adam's lower tone it's kind of dissonant? It just gives it a different feel- Like he's signing in a Minor Key while Sera sings on a Major Key? HE'S DEPRESSED WHILE SERA IS ANGRY hahahah.
It’s so much easier to hear the proper alto/harmony!!! Like, Charlie and Emily are great singers, but Charlie HELLA overpowers Emily when they duet. With these two, you hear them ACTUALLY balancing each other, and the suddenly key change higher up is something I WISH the original did TTuTT

(Lucifer, the missing king of Hell, disapeared 7 years ago, leaving Princess Charlie in charge. His whereabout are unknown. / Lilith is Adam's girl-faliure ex, trying desperately to get back together after leaving him for "someone better", AKA Lucy. She still sees herself as the Queen of Hell, despite no longer being married to Lucifer. Unintentionally says really awkward and embaressing things when she doesn't mean to.)
Husker Sir Pentious
(Husk is a struggling drunk trying to regain his status as an Overlord by doing whatever Alastor asks of him. He is accompanied by feral cat minions (Keekees) that do his bidding, but mostly just serve him drinks. / Pen is a bright-eyed inventor who lost his soul to Vox in a bet and is the hotel's naive, but well meaning handyman. Despite his meek disposition, he is quite fierce when it comes to defending his friends. Lacks a lot of social grace.)
Angel Dust Valentino
(Angel is an Overlord that controls the flow of addictive substances and black market deals. He can often be seen petting Fat Nuggets much like a cartoony mastermind would pet their cat. He's very haughty, but secretly really insecure, talking big game and acting obnoxiously to keep people from getting too close. / Valentino is a washed up movie star that fell into the mobs clutches after taking one too many loans he couldn't pay back. He's forced to repay his ever expanding debt by doing odd jobs and dangerous meet-ups for the family. Joined the hotel when he heard they would give him free rent.)
Alastor Vox
As normal, Alastor is the Overlord of radio and has been missing for 7 years. He returns to find the world has moved on past his passion with more affordable and varied ways to spread information and entertain. He has a major inferiorty complex, believing his love for radio isn't valid anymore, and constantly feels the need to be in control, though rarely gets it. Attempts to feel that control by gathering as much dirt on someone as he can, and then threaten to broadcast it to everyone should they not bow to his whims. Constantly has a manic, anxiety-fueled smile to greet anyone unfortunate enough to meet his ire. / Vox, also known as "The Video Demon", is the current Overlord in control of technological advancements, including data collection and data protection. He came into power just short of a decade ago through use of every underhanded gimmick and useful connection he had, broadcasting every piece of his opposition's dirty laundry that he could so as to leave him as the only worthwhile choice for the consumer at large. Experience and competition has tempered his ego slightly, though he still thinks himself superior to most others and can be increadibly petty. Offered to aid the hotel with the intent to pit Adam's plans for redemption against Charlie's after the princess threatened to pull the plug on his broadcast for being dishonest in how he obtains his information and for being "too mean".
Carmilla Velvette
Carmilla is the Overlord in charge of the Arms Trade. She oversees the aquisition requests and meets the demands of the black market. She feins maturity to receive complements and approval and sees herself as the self apointed mother figure of the group, treating all of her minions like children. Together, with Angel's manpower and Alastor's endless blackmail, the entire crime ring of Pride is nearly completely under their control...

I love how this is a swap but still keep some thing the same, with Charlie wanting redemption for the wrong reason, and Adam being more for both sinners and winners wanting redemption but also acceptance. Or how Angel Dust lean on more his mafia roots and substance abuse and Valentino doing dangerous work than sex work. This is definitely a more interesting twist of it.

I really like the idea for this AU Charlie to have characteristics of Alastor, moving around the courtroom with tendrils for her lack of wings, and her eyes glowing growing occasionally. It's a really interesting liberty to take with her character from the canon!

I've always been in the fence with swap aus since they're usually so far swapped to the other character that they... Are just straight up the other character, but here Adam looks pissed in a way we don't really see Charlie look.
Charlie was just mentally going "excuse me, that is my friend!" In the original. While Adam here looks like he's desperately resisting the urge to scream "BS" and cuss everyone out for being dumb and mean.

literally the only thing that makes any sense is the concept of Adam wanting to save sinners but with how Habzin Hotel is structured you'd have to really warp the story to make a swap with Adam and Charlie make sense

I imagine Adam being an Angel in heaven, and maybe things didn’t work out with eve at some point in his life so he wasn’t with her but he still upheld his morals to be a better person or try to do better cause maybe it was his fault him and eve split so realizing he was fucked up in the time he’s alone he does a lot of reevaluating, but in that time he finds out that the head seraphim’s were killing demons to keep the population lower, and he sees sinners as his children too since he was the first dad so he kinda saw this as wrong, turns out Charlie and vaggie were at the head of the agreement with the seraphim’s, the princess of hell opening the gates every year or what ever for the angels and vaggie being the head of that army to come down and kill those demons, Adam would find this to be messed up seeing her killing her own people not agreeing with those morals, thus leading to him having to say something about it, going through his little arc of self Improvement without realizing it. Then leading him to eventually meet lute who is an angel named lute who maybe he thought was human?(maybe she was a fallen Angel he met on earth?) while he is investigating who hid from the army cause she didn’t agree with the morals of killing demons either, leading to the scenes eventually that take place in the video. Idk where eve would fit in, but hey 🤷♀️ that would be really cool story too. (U guys could take that further or take everything deeper this is just the explaining of the surface of the idea)

See, my one issue with Hazbin Hotel was the decision to make Adam the villain. Didn't make sense to me.
I think that was the point sense it'd be pretty easy and a little too obvious to make him yet another heroic variation of Adam

@@enegar2536 lets not forget that the depiction of Adam in the garden was told by Lilith to Charlie so it would make sense that she would paint him in the worst light possible, I'd like to think he started off rough around the edges, but Lilith leaving him definitely hit him hard, we have to remember that he was the first man and his whole purpose was to sire all of humanity, Lilith leaving like that basically denied him the whole reason for his existence, I'm sure he did regret some of his actions and thus when he met Eve he wanted to not waste his second chance, no doubt Adam did love Eve which makes her betrayal all the more of a gut punch, add on to one of his firstborne killing the other one the dude was basically screwed over and never had much of a happy life, His attitude towards women is bad, but considering his first two wives basically ditched him and left him for Lucifer, the literal devil, I'd imagine that would have really messed him up and shaped his worldview, lets also not forget Adam has been in Heaven for close to 10,000 years by the events of the Show, the dude has seen every atrocity, war, horror, and what not you could possibly imagine, Perhaps at one point he did want to redeem sinners but eventually lost hope and thus gave up trying. Perhaps its possible the reason he finds extermination to be entertainment is his personal revenge against Lucifer and Lilith for screwing him over in life.
I feel like in this AU Adam wants to redeem sinners because there his decedents and when they die it feels like apart of him dies too
I kinda like the idea of Adam being a sinner aiming to redeem demons. He and Eve (maybe Lilith, idk much about her) were the first sinners so him trying to redeem others could both be as a path to redeem himself and could be guilt for what he did in the garden of Eden
