- After two years of intermittent labor, here it finally is! Thank you so much to everyone who has been following the progress of this getting made and for supporting me as I took on a project that kind of exploded in scale past what I initially planned haha.
Firstly, thank you to everyone involved in making Beetlejuice the Musical! I love it so much and this thing only happened because the source material is just so good. Consider this a send-off for the musical since it'll be closing early next year. If you're able to, y'all should really grab some tickets and see the show live! They're also touring the show soon, so really there's no excuse!! Go watch this show. It's a joy and a labor of love.
Secondly, I feel it's necessary to provide a small disclaimer. This project started out as a storyboard and ended up landing somewhere in between boards and animation. For sake of those who don't know and maybe want to break into the animation industry, this level of polish, color, backgrounds, etc is ABSOLUTELY NOT what is expected or wanted from an actual professional storyboard. I put in the time and effort to give it this level of polish just for fun! And also because I know I'm not shipping it off to get animated. This is the final product and it's something I just wanted to do for the hell of it because I love boarding and I love this musical.
Now that that's out of the way, I just wanna give an extra thanks to Jeannette Arroyo and Amber Blade Jones for busting their asses to give this little project some of the most BEAUTIFUL backgrounds in the business. It elevated the level of this thing beyond anything I could've hoped for.

Alex Brightman deserves a Beetlejuice 2 cameo. He's done SO MUCH to bring Beetlejuice back to people's attention, which is saying a lot considering how popular it already was to begin with.

@@bea2323 Beetlejuice will always be a large, cartoonish, and lanky, pasty white dude that dresses like a blown out homeless person. Alex has the performance, but lets not pretend that this is what he looks like. If anything, its a testament to his increadible skill and mastery that we don't notice the difference. Viva Brightman.

I think my favorite part of the show (besides, well, everything) was how they changed the lyrics for the intro to "The Whole 'Being Dead' Thing" for post-COVID. The whole theater went crazy!

Congratulations at creating, almost singlehandedly, one of the best things ever made by this fandom. The energy, choreo, designs of characters, props, backgrounds- Everything! It’s such an incredible labour of love and it streams out of every pore of this. Also Alex basically making roblox death noises for credits is such a cherry on top thank you dearly

This is amazingly one of the best animations that represents the material given from the show. Better than anything that i have seen in a long long time from any Fandom.

I really like how it doesn’t seem that Beetlejuice blinks randomly. It’s usually with purpose in an action. it makes him seem a lot more unsettling once you notice as long he goes without blinking.

As an amateur animator and a HUGE musical fan, I am so upset I didn’t stumble upon this earlier!
This is f*cking phenomenal! I have seen countless musical animatics, and this is by far the best one I’ve ever seen. The animation, the visual gags, the _facial expressions!_ I am in awe. (The split second frame of BJ breathing at 1:13 killed me) 💀

Can we just take a moment and appreciate the fact that beetle juice’s appearance is based on Alex Brightman’s interpretation of him in the musicale. This made the animatic even better.
It feels like a perfect melding of Brightman and the old 90s cartoon (particularly the snaggle teeth and yellow eyes). Such a great character design

Definitely agree! And also definitely recommend looking up the old Beetlejuice cartoon from the '90s, it has a similar energy as the musical (albeit Beetlejuice is even more toned down than the musical since it was a show broadcasted with kids as it's target audience at the time).

2:37 i have never smiled so much at seeing a rotting body just absolutely break down when being asked "how you doin?" i always imagined it to be a fangirl but i enjoyed that subvert in expectation so damn much
in the show the ensemble are mourners! so when he says "how you doin'?" to a lady it's to someone who's absolutely beside herself in grief which is why she's crying. it's always fun to listen to an album and have your own ideas on what the story is and then see how it's actually done live/on stage!
another example of this is that another person on CZcams grew up listening to the Phantom of the Opera soundtrack and thought the phantom was an actual sorcerer who used music magic to entrance people and kill them. when they saw the show and realized he was just a horny guy they were disappointed lol

God, the part from 3:37 to 3:55 just, there's something about the perspective shift, the 'slow walk' he does forward, the choir flanking him, that really makes this the part of the song you realize, Beetlejuice has POWER. He is just playing around right now with this whole show he's putting on, but he really seems to have POWER in this instant.

This is just awe inspiring. The details, the character design, smoothness. It feels so absurd its almost off-putting yet natural. It almost feels like he's actually in a physical place while jumping through reality and the forth wall. You've captured Beetlejuice amazingly. This is honestly one of the best song animatic/animations I've seen. Well done.
This is quite literally the BEST animatic I think I’ve ever seen! The attention to detail is astonishing! It took me a second to realize that the song “Ready set, not yet” was muffled because Beetlejuice was falling in the direction of the house from the cemetery WHILE THEY’RE SINGING INSIDE!!! The line "If you use during this album, it's gonna keep on going" works so much better in an album than in theatre because it's true, it reflects on how the world will go on without any of us where as in the theater this line is wrong, the show will stop of someone dies.
It'd honestly be some serious commitment if someone died during the broadway show and the singers just kept going while the ambulances were doing their thing

God, where do i even start?
This is one of the best projects ive ever seen on CZcams. The artstyle is incredibly fun! Im absolutely amazed at all the transitions and how insanely creative the scene are. You captured the energy of this character and this world and this song so perfectly! And the colours? The smoothness?! Two years is a short time for what you managed to pull off! Im absolutely in love with this animation, its insanely beautiful and detailed and funny and creative! Even tho i can absolutely quote this entire musical, the way you animated it kept suprising me as if i didnt even know what jokes were coming! You captured Alex Brightmans energy so well and added another layer of cartoon absurdity that just isnt possible on stage. I love how you used the skeletons as the ensemble, and just the whole chaotic energy of Beetlejuice flying around messing with everything. The changes in hair colour at times were also a super cool detail! Im starting to repeat myself, so ill stop here, but oh my god i am in love with this. I hope this lands you a job at Disney or something cause HOLY SHIT this felt like watching a scene from a movie and i would like to see said movie

It's funny how the things that Alex Brightman gets a lot of attention for is the shows about DEATH. Helluva Boss, he plays Fizzarolli. Hazbin Hotel, he plays Sir Pentious and Beetlejuice, you guessed it, Beetlejuice.

My mom died a couple years ago, and weirdly I felt the same way about a few other tracks from this musical. People expect you to be sad about death but there's a full range of emotions that can come out. We don't always _want_ to feel sad. Sometimes part of mourning is celebrating life in bold defiance.
i loved the part from 3:33 to 4:00 because of how it's animated, his shoulders moving from side to side, the choir singing, his body becoming a snake and how when he is on the cliff the lightning waving from both sides and how he is so powerful he destroys part of the rock, making him fall. Overall a great animation

This is the best Beetlejuice animatic I've ever seen. It fits the vibe so perfectly, I feel like this would be used as an official animation. It's so chaotic and crazy in way that fits the song (heck the whole show) so well. Plus I love how Beetlejuice falls off a cliff in the end.

I feel like this is the perfect media form for Beetlejuice; just the fluidity and freedom you could recreate the lyrics with. shows it. you have a fine mastery of animation my dear artist, and I commend your skill
