  • In this video presentation, we start by providing a basic understanding of opioids in terms of their origins and the major types available. From there, we go into a more details about what opioid overdose, addiction and physical dependence entails. The video then looks at why people take opioids, specifically looking at the use of opioids for the management of pain and the symptoms these drugs produce in the body. Finally, we look at the side effects of frequent opioid use and treatment options available for those with physical dependence or those experiencing an opioid overdose.

Bruh I did the math and from experience and a 4 gone hit you like a perc 30 100 mg codeine equals to only 10 mg oxycodone and it’s really like 150 mg codeine each line so basically your favorite rapper on perc 30 codeine just a overhyped overpriced way to take opioids

maybe because medical professionals are scared of prescribing opioid analgesics, even to patients with chronic pain. Not their fault as such, more a systemic issue, perpetuated by medical councils intimidated by the media and the hysteria they have encouraged in society. My doc said codeine/ acetaminophen(paracetamol)30/500 would be extremely addictive, the consultant who dealt with my agonising broken leg laughed at the idea of 30/500 for a month would cause any addiction... he was right, it helped me with pain, I never got addicted.

So the weak opioids are just not as addictive? Or not as effective to treat pain?

I HAVE SAID THIS OVER AND OVER. And even though it's sometimes mandatory, medication can be just as bad. Someone told me that medication is not the same as drugs and I said BS. Yes it is. Only difference: one is legal and the other is not. They can be just as addictive and harmful. The side effects are horrible and so are the long term effects. I ( my opinion) think of doctors ( some not all) the same as drug dealers. Heard a comic say the money is not in the cure it is in the medication. That they CAN cure incurable diseases but they won't be making money doing so.
