- Hey, learners!
This lesson helps you understand the difference between a misplaced modifier and a dangling modifier.
What is a modifier?
A modifier is a word or a group or words that gives information about a noun or a verb. It modifies or changes the meaning of a noun or a verb.
What is a misplaced modifier?
A misplaced modifier is a word or a group of words - a phrase or a clause - that sits or is placed next to a word or words it doesn't intend to modify. It is placed little far away from the word or words it modifying, and because of that it is called a misplaced modifier.
What is a dangling modifier?
A modifier is called dangling when a sentence doesn't have the word or words the modifier intents to modify.
