People keep forgetting the Boozer, Williams, and Dunleavy Jr. freshman class. Just a nasty freshman trio class.
Dunleavy was trash. Jay Williams may have been the best college basketball player I've ever seen.
They’re definitely going to run the ACC but Jon Scheyer holds the key to their success playing all those potential lottery picks but this could be another dominate Duke team like 2015

Hope the scouting on these guys is accurate, but they had Treyvon Duval rated higher than Trey Young just a few years ago.

Great talent...and you didn't even mention the transfers! James, Brown and Gillis are all going to be contributors to what is going to be an amazing Duke team in 24-25.
If college B ball were a game of 10 on 10 this Duke team would possibly go undefeated. The team literally has 10 guys that would get starter minutes on 95% of the teams in D-1. Unfortunately the twin problems are you can only put 5 guys on the floor at a time and all these talented players are going to be vying for a total of only 200 player minutes per game. Jon Scheyer will have to massage a lot of young egos to maintain good team chemistry. If he can manage that task successfully this team has a VERY high ceiling.
Kon Knueppel (kuh-nippl) is gonna be a lottery pick. Trust me. He might be the best player on the team.

If Proctor doesn't figure it out. I still have my concerns..you need guards and guards that can get to the rim!
I think Proctor will take another jump, especially wit having more shooting around him.
@@Ibespaced1020 - McCain, as a great scoring talent in an addition to Roach as an undersized off guard but capable vet kinda hurt Proctor’s game-I think this team will have more defined roles and Proctor should thrive working the pick and roll, throwing the lob and hitting open threes with more defensive attention in the post this season.

@@mike2687 I agree, hopefully proctor will be more of a floor general with the weapons around em. He can get to the cup more bc of spacing, he’ll be able to make better decisions in the P&R. His growth as a PG will be crucial to the success of the team
Bro our defense this year is gonna be locks. Tyrese Proctor should've been a All ACC defender last year. He been locking up RJ for 2 years, not to mention Scheyer brought in Sion James and Maliq Brown 2 other Lockdowns. I'm really loving this Duke team, there only setback is a 3rd year HC. No coach has won a National Championship within there first 5 years.

@@timothybullock5418 that interim coach had previous coaching experience. Scheyer is literally only going into his 3rd year as a HC. I had someone bring up Roy Williams to me before and I laughed at em, i'm obviously saying there 1st 5 years of being a coach not with a team.
@@itsdagoat_Isaac Hey it is what it is but I can’t believe ur doubting OUR MAN. Been under Coach K for years. Great results with two fundamentally flawed teams. Both years Duke played their best late in the season. ACC tournament championship, then an Elite Eight with a team where the whole frontcourt had to play out of position due to the lack of a true five. Plus consider who it is that’s constructed this roster.
No baseball team won a series after trailing 3-0 - until one did!! Someone has to be the first. Past achievement is not a prerequisite for future achievement. Who else better and more prepared than SCHEYER to be the first!
This defense is probably THE BEST in the nation next season. The length is insane, nobody under 6’5”. If the offense is above average, Duke is SCARY good. Is that possible? Flagg makes everybody better. Proctor likely has the breakout year we wished for last season. Everybody on this team can shoot. Now if Maluach is more than just a lob threat on offense, just go ahead and hang that sixth banner.
If they don’t make the at least the Elite 8, I think the coaching seat will get real hot for John Scheyer.

I can't believe that people still haven't learned from the OAD era that you can't just collect the best talent and expect it to work. Chemistry is a very real thing in basketball. Sometimes the sum isn't nearly as good as its parts. Obviously Duke could be very good, but we have heard this narrative many times before and it rarely pans out.

Jon Shire made it to the final 8. This team is clearly better than last year. Give the guy a break. 2 years in and he is improving every season, i truely believe this year is his to win ,only Alabama can hang w duke ,but duke will win ,championship 🏆

They're going to be fine but they've had these types of young talent for many years now. Cooper Flagg can carry them but the others might not be comfortable with their role.
Drake Powell and Jayden Quaintance are each ranked higher than Isaiah Evans on 3/4 major ranking platforms. Evans is really good but not the best player out of NC imo. Yes, ik he won player of the year in NC, but that speaks more to his HS dominance. I think looking at long term potential for both college and the NBA, the other 2 are the better prospects w more upside and better 2-way games - as reflected in the rankings. All love tho even if we agree to disagree!

Flagg is a once in a generation talent. No way Scheyer could try to deny Flagg the chance to play on the US Olympic select team. Duke will be just fine if everybody can remain healthy and bond as a team. They have plenty of time and Flagg is going to flat out dominate in his 1 yr at Duke. #1 draft pick with a bullet.
But i do think ,any line up Duke plays ,they should have atleast one of the transfer s playing on the floor for leadership, they will be more than fine, stop saying they are young, not really guys ,the transfer s are good very,defense will be major key,they have it all and everything else, championship in making

Keep in mind pre season rankings don’t mean anything other than what media outlets believe. Not to mention UNC was a preseason #1 team a few seasons ago and failed to make the tournament. Miami was ranked the 13th best team last year due to preseason polls. They finished 15-17 overall.
Also Pope lead a BYU team that had no point in succeeding to a NCAA tournament, lost in round one but still. Arkansas, it’s a topic, is ranked 18th, roughly, and only have a few freshman in an overrated class (which I’ve stated for a long time and I only truly believed in Somto) and a few of Cal’s players from last season. Cal has proven he’s a fraudulent coach which breaks my heart truthfully.

@@archangelmusic13not odds on favorites. Kansas, UConn, and Alabama are all at +1000 then Duke is after those 3. It’s all mainly media hype surrounding their upcoming freshman. I do believe they could be a elite 8 team but nothing more, maybe it’s just my Kentucky bias 😂 and the fact that these two are rivals. I do see Kentucky as a elite 8 or higher caliber of team due to how well this team is put together with vets who all fit a scheme, Pope hasn’t one a tournament game but it also took Jay Wright 8 or so years into his career to just win a game in March.
I see UConn 3 playing because of how well their playbook is and bringing a handful of players back. I just don’t like how Brodie went from a “Kentucky fan”, it was only because of his love for Dillingham, and then saying that Kentucky was a “program on the rise over the past few seasons” in his “Downfall of Kentucky” video which clearly shows he’s ignorant on college history, not stupid I’ll never call him stupid. I just don’t like the fake fan scenario, I knew he wasn’t a fan the whole time it’s just that video showed he needs to educate himself to improve this page and himself. It's all fun & games until you actually gotta go out & do it & dook has only had 1 final 4 in the one & done era,& they same thing every year ,dooks got this dooks got that & then they go out & do less with more,that's been the theme for dook ,since they last title almost a decade ago.This look to be an impressive team but not as good as the year with zion & rj Barrett & the rest of them & they made it to elite 8 on a very questionable lucky call to get by tako fall & UCF. Just another team that's done less than more,until they prove otherwise it would be foolish to think this team is gonna do anything different than they have in almost the last 9 or 10 years since they last made it to the championship game since then they had one final 4 & the whole world saw how that ended when UNC beat dook in coach k's last game in Cameron indoor & then sent coach k into retirement when UNC beat dook & thus ending the best year dook has had since their last championship
2 FF in the OAD era and a single shot away with the Zion team (in which they had a 3-0 record vs the other FF teams) and a single shot away with Bagley’s year… this isn’t the NBA where the games are decided by a series, it’s single elimination where just about anything can and has happened-the format is where March Madness was coined.
So yeah, the championship or bust crowd only has one championship to remember but the knowledgeable fans understand how incredibly important the format is and how they’ve been on the cusp for nearly the entire span…. It’s also how teams like the Scheyer/Singler team were ABLE to win it all as they certainly weren’t the best team in the country that year.
Had a great shot even with an injured Kyrie but Williams had the game of his life-a game away from another FF except State wasn’t done with their miracle run that took out Duke twice, UNC, Marq and others. Tatum with an injured Giles-Tre Jones had his team rolling until Covid shut it all down…. Mitchell missed one game his freshman year-Tenn and his defensive assignment killed them.
It’s just the way it goes sometimes-and it looks like we’re seeing a shift in terms of team building with this team…. Seasoned vets to mix with the top tier OAD talent…. The OAD era as we know it is over…. This is the NIL/portal era.
Proctor, Flagg, and Foster should have the "Green light" to score at will on this team. I'm not saying "Ball hog" like some of the players did last year, but if they're open; take that shot!! They should be free to run like Golden State's team "RUN-TMC (Tim Hardeway, Chris Mullen, and Mitch Richmond)! HELL! The basket is covered with the big men! Isaiah is good, but he would be outstanding at another school.
Duke's definitely not his style, and the coach isn't going to play him. I just hope he entertains my opinion relative to Foster, Proctor, and Flagg.😮😮😮
