  • @WildernessMusic_GentleSerene

    Great video! Superb photography giving me the best close look at this bike. Fantastic description of the upgrade to the 3.0. As with every Ebike video I see (hundreds) your seat is adjusted too low. Seat height on a bike is not adjusted for putting a flat foot down, if you do have a flat foot the seat is extremely low. A guide to your first adjustment is to place the pedal at the lowest position, then place the heal of your foot on the center of the pedal. Now when your foot is positioned correctly on the pedal with the ball of your foot centered over the pedal spindle your leg will have a slight bend in it at full pedal extension. This is the initial adjustment; you can now experiment with a plus or minus up to 20mm change in height for comfort over longer distances. With the seat properly adjusted when you stop while sitting on the seat you will be on your toes, and just barely able to hold yourself up...so...it is best when stopping to get off the seat. This seat adjustment prevents serious knee injuries that can make cycling in the future impossible. Also, to save the knees a wide variety of pedal cadence (RPM) is necessary to acquire the skill level to turn the cranks from 80 to 100 RPM smoothly without bouncing in the seat.

    I hated my 2.0 and had troubles from the start, they cheaped out too much. Glad they fixed all my complaints ( rotor size, fork travel, bigger motor, grip upgrade), while keeping the same price. I just got a lemon with my 2.0, and it was never really fixed, the brakes, rotors, and motor were all bad but not "bad enough" for lectric to fix, my local shop got some of it fixed, but the motor still sounds broken and screams after 15mph. Also one of my big complains it the pedals are a bit low to the ground on stepthrough so make sure to keep it up on the turn or you will hurt yourself and bike.

    • @Milesco
      @Milesco Před rokem +1

      Yeah, I find the Lectric quality control to be spotty at best. I suppose that's when you get when you're pushing hard to get the lowest price on the market, but it's still disappointing.
      On my old XP 1.0, the battery level indicator didn't work -- it never displayed below 100%, even when the battery was empty -- and the left pedal fell off after only 41 miles.
      I decided to start over with a clean slate and ordered and received a 3.0 in December 2022. It arrived with a small area of flaked-off paint at the main hinge (a minor cosmetic issue) but also a rather snug fit for the battery (which turned out to be a much more serious issue).
      It seems that either the height or the width of the main frame tube is a little bit too small on my bike. Although I can get the battery in and out, it's a pretty snug fit. I can live with that, but my old battery from my 1.0 would not fit at all. I could barely push it up into the frame tube -- it was a _super_ tight fit -- and I couldn't get it back out again without using a screwdriver to pry it out. (The little pull handle on the battery would surely have snapped right off if I had tried to use it.) And the locking pin in the 1.0 battery didn't line up with the hole in the frame on the 3.0, so I couldn't turn the battery on.
      This was (and is) very frustrating because one of my reasons for buying the 3.0 was that I could use my old battery from the 1.0 as a backup. (They're supposed to be interchangeable.) But I *_can't,_* because *it won't fit.* 😡
      I think it's a manufacturing irregularity with my 3.0 because the old battery from the 1.0 would fit into the old 1.0 just fine. I ended up giving the old bike (and battery) away, so now if I want a backup battery, I'm gonna have to cough up 300 bucks for a new one, and *_hope_* that it fits! 😠
      Also, I can't get the 3.0 to go over 18 mph on throttle only. ☹

    Nice review. I started my ebike experience a year and a half ago. What I did was purchase an ebike conversion kit and changed my 12 year old Schwinn to an ebike. Invested about $600 to do it. It really educated me on what's important on an ebike. I sold it due to the fact I wanted hydraulic and or mechanical disc brakes, rear tail light, etc. Today , I own a 26" step through at 17.5 AH battery and 1,000 watts at my home in Ohio. Just ordered a 20" fold-able ebike with a 16AH battery and 800 watt motor for my home in Florida. I have a lot of folks approach me on my ebike. The number one question. How fast does it go? That's all relative to rider weight. I'm 230lbs so I tell folks at a minimum a 750 watt motor and minimum 14AH battery. Like a swimming pool, bigger is better when it comes too battery and wattage.

      Rider weight or rider cross section will determine wh/mi, depending on whether it's low speed or high speed travel, and the distance.
      Weight is the primary factor if you're gunning it from one stop light to the next.
      But if you have an long uncontested trip at speed, it's going to be all about wind resistance and weight doesn't really factor into it.
      In most cases it doesn't matter as cross section and weight have a strong correlation.

    this goes out to all lectric owners. before you think you need new brake pads. dont change them, because you most likely dont need to. all you got to do is loosen up the main two bolts that hold the brakes to the chassy. then run the back brake pad all the way in. the chrome hex drive. then tighten up the two bolts again. and loosen up your brake cable at the brake caliper and pull that lever to get front brake pad close to rotor. it worked for me. i will need brakes sooner or later. and so will you.

    I have the 2.0, fun bike to ride. But my main complaint is that I want hydraulic brakes. After my lectric 1.0 died, I brought a Aventon Level commuter ebike, wonderful machine. I also got a discount for the Lectric xp 2.0 after I notified them about my 1.0 breaking so now I have 2 ebikes. I have to say that on paved roads, the Aventon is better and faster. But on rougher terrain, the Lectric xp 2.0 is better if not more fun to ride. I also upgraded the brakes to hydraulic (installed Tektro e350's, it stops on the dime and no maintenance needed except for changing worn brake pads).

    For the money, Lectric has once again hit it out of the park, so to speak. However, that being said, I would like to see them do a better job of integrating the wiring into the frame, going with at least a Shimano Altus derailleur and trigger shifters instead of the horrible SIS system. I prefer a thumb throttle for safety reasons and they could easily do that as well. I know what I am suggesting would up the price, but if they can do those things and bring it in under $1300, they will sell a ton.

    I don't see how it wouldn't get caked with grime and eventually fail - when you need it. Or have the key snap off from some road hazard. While I wasn't expecting it to be a mountain bike, but given that key placement, I would not take this off road at all, so I don't get why they have 3" knobby tires vs something narrower that is more road suitable, and easier to replace/upgrade.

    • @EbikeEscape
      @EbikeEscape  Před rokem +2

      The battery setup is almost the same. There appears to be a slight difference in the connection, but a 2.0 battery can fit into a 3.0 frame with minimal issue.
      The charger is still a 2amp charger. With the battery being in the frame, it is a touch more difficult to remove than an externally mounted battery. But the battery can be charged on the bike, so it doesn't need to be removed all the time.

    We purchased this Vivi 27.5” electric bike and a Tentaquil 26” electric bike for our 13 and 14 year olds. czcams.com/users/postUgkxUiL0GnyDjP32RJdd660sP8mZk4CRLTCJ The Vivi was much easier to put together. With the Vivi, there was a video link to assist with assembly which made the process easier to follow (we did put the handlebars on upside down, but it was a quick and easy fix). With the Tentaquil, the assembly was not as simple to follow, but after we messaged the company for an assembly video, it was easier and they did respond quickly. The other major differences were that the Vivi has a grip throttle on the right handle (like a motorcycle) and the Tentaquil has a push throttle that you use your thumb to activate. The monitors were also different, so if you’re looking for something specific in terms of changing the bikes functions, pay attention to what the monitor offers. We were really impressed with the overall quality and functionality of both bikes, but if you’re looking for more power and an easier assembly, definitely go with the Vivi!

    I have had a long-range Lectric 3.0 for 2 months, but I've only taken it out for a test ride for about 2 weeks b/c of the cold weather. Overall, I'm delighted with its performance except for the fact that the battery only lasted shorter than expected as the battery ran out after I made 29 miles combined only by using both throttle and PAS.What can I do to help the battery last longer to more than 40 miles per charge as mentioned by the manufacturer and Lectric company?Thanks

    • @jdgoesham5381
      @jdgoesham5381 Před rokem +2

      I see the creator already mentioned temperature can affect battery performance but something to keep in mind with these ebike companies is that whatever they say for range it's probably going to be about 60% of that number if you're somewhat frugal with throttle. Another thing is weight. Typically even if they tell you specs of how they tested the range(like Lectric does do)it's done with a very light person. 150lbs at most is what I've noticed. So say you weigh 180 like I do that's a big difference. Then you might have a pannier, crate, backpack with stuff in it etc and it adds up.
      Also, I hope you took your battery inside(like not left in the cold garage)this winter. That can affect overall life performance as well possibly.
