Whats funny is that contrary to popular belief, most magicians dont put things up their sleeves. Sure, sometimes they do, but its in a vast minority yet everyone seems to think thats all magicians do haha
I actually love not knowing and just sitting back and appreciating all the artistry involved in creating such an effective illusion. This is somewhat the same mindset that allows me to enjoy professional wrestling.

I believe part of it is that black mat. He always has it on top of the table and works the cards on it. It could be a magnetic thing with special cards that makes them appear to disappear. The problem is, part of the time they don't disappear on the mat. They disappear in his hands, clearly above the mat.

Some of his cards are gimmicked, Shin actually sells the trick on his website but that does not mean everyone can do it like him, takes a lot of talent.
what if the back f the cards are the same color or even the same matter as the black carpet? if we look closer he never showed the back of any cards that disappeared

Shin lim actually has tutorials that he teaches you all the tricks. But keep it to yourself because he wants to extend the reach of magic to inspiring magician while maintaining a balance with the audience, because we all know itâs a trick but the point is that itâs mystifying nonetheless. Itâs a good show when the audience starts to question the existence of magic but rationally understand itâs a sleight of hand trick.
Itâs funny how they have all of these theories about how it happens but they have NO idea how he does it.

Slowing down magic videos only works with simple sleight of hand and/or moves that require misdirection
It's "I", not "myself".
That disappearing towards the end is explained in this video - search on youtube for - "Amazing Card Vanish Magic Trick Tutorial (EXPLICATION BLACK ART) Shin Lim". In short, the back side of the cards (which he never shows) matches exactly with the surface of the table. So it just blends in when he puts the card face down. The video is in Russian so you can just mute it. You can watch the whole thing or just skip to 2m 50s and he will show exactly what Shin did.

Yeah Shin Lim actually debunked this himself, offhandedly mentioning âblack artâ in an old interview.
Thereâs no sign of it though even with frame-by-frame shots (a more rigorous check than simple 1/4 speed). Itâs that good.
