These Turtles have really grown on me after handling them for a while. I think they're better than the first release. In hand the heads look much better and don't stand as much as you think.
@@hovseph818 This is also my prediction. In 2015 (SDCC) they released a Black & White Judge Dredd, which is still one of my top favorite figures of all time. Mezco would be crazy not to release a black and white comic set.
Look great, but glad don't regret passing on them. They should have made the front shells more like the 80s promo art, and the heads really don't seem to capture the source art well.
That’s cuz the bodies don’t fit the head sculpts it looks weird. If you want cartoon turtles just get the neca ones. This bodies were clearly made with mirage comics in mind.

I’m not against the idea of easy reuse in action figure lines since we see that all the timebut I think that there should’ve been a little bit more thought and Care put into this set to make the reuse not as egregious, and the set overall be a bit more appealing to collectors. Right off the bat, the value discrepancy between this set and the OG set is very apparent. You’re paying the same amount as you did for those original turtles but you’re getting far fewer accessories. This set should’ve come with nearly everything that the original set did but replace maybe The different sets of soft goods that each turtle had specifically tailored to them with all trenchcoats and hats to emulate their disguises from the cartoon. I know it’s been memed to death, but those blank staring heads are pretty ridiculous as is the fact that Donnie‘s loadout consist of two heads with that same blank expression. The fact that the other turtles at least have one other head that looks great on them, but Donnie doesn’t have one that’s neutral is disappointing. Finally I wish they would’ve all been on the same buck. Raph to me looks the best out of this entire set because his stockier build looks like the best translation of how the turtles were depicted in the cartoon but in Mezco style. If they were all on the same buck to reflect their similar body types in the cartoon I think that would’ve been more aesthetically pleasing. So not a bad set necessarily, but I think there is not as much in it that justifies the price and there are some things that I think could’ve been better thought out in terms of the execution

No regrets on passing these. The cartoon variations should have no skin texture, period. NECA still owns the title on best cartoon figures. I feel this was a FOMO purchase for most folks.

Not everyone obviously but paying 400 for a set that comes with less than the OG sounds like a consolation prize at best. They should’ve all been on the same body too and come with trench coats and hats at the very least
Let's be honest. A toon version should not have used the same body type as their first release. Changing just the head and some paint does NOT make them look like the cartoon.
Tbh i never like the mezco tmnt sculpts.. the heads always seemed too big to me, the articulation is meh and the price tag is ridiculous. The accessories are cool but how often you gonna use them to justify it.

The sculpts are the same but the plastic used for the body are a bit glossier and no wash to bring out the details so the details are less obvious.
