Can I Survive Factorio SEABLOCK?

- For a challenge, I decided to try to survive and build a factory with Factorio seablock mod, the wettest of all blocks. Perhaps more of an experiment than a survival challenge, but nonetheless it was enthralling.

Oh yes
AA's intros have reached a level of surrealism so high, they don't even exist within the confines of our comprehension, and they pop in occasionally to make sure we know when the video has started

well, he did invest 15 hours into seablock for a 14 minute video. that's pretty slow.

Any idea what that song was during the intro. (Not the thq sound effect the song) I thought at first it was from the alien trilogy game on the ps1 but I can't find it. But I know i've heard that song before.

Florida is one of the embarrassing excuses of a state that's apart of the USA.

Yes.
Downloaded mods for Factorio, was playing them for a bit and then in the game chat I saw
“The natives are aware of your presence.” and I’ve never been more afraid.
After countless of hours watching your spectacular videos, only now I've come to realize that you might be the first(or only) youtuber who doesn't use simple primitive English.
I commend you for the unknowing effort of enlightening us poor non-natives!
Many thanks! Happy it helps you learn!

What a compelling ending. Such a gentle call to action. Well done.
I just wanted to say, you make the correct decision bowing out early.

i was looking for you here
I love that you picked up Onerous, whom I have to say is the one person to do a recent seablock run, a few more exist from before release one of Factorio. You are embarking on the longest Factorio playthrough that exists and the irony, reaching the rocket at 120 episodes is less than 1% of a seablock run. I look forward to see your series running seablock, and how your construction styles changes overtime. I have well over 500 hours of seablock play and if will have me i will gladly offer advice. You can see a lot of it on Onerous playthrough, both in the comments and watching him play.
I wouldn't recommend getting tips from Onerous though! Watching his playthrough made me cringe a LOT! 😆
Having started on Seablock multiple times, my thoughts watching this video--even knowing it's more about the humor than any sort of play advice--was, "Of course you got brownouts! You overbuilt! Look at that long line of electrolyzers!"
His voice got sexier the more he talks
Your soothing aggression at the begginning was the best.
The gradual progression from simple let's player to avant-garde shitposting auteur has me absolutely hooked. I'm legitimately thrilled to see what kind of sleep paralysis demons you continue to unveil with each passing video.
Awesome
Seablock seems to have had some....adverse effects. Its either an ascent into the next level of consciousness, or a descent into madness. My moneys on a little bit of both.
I’ve watched this video so many times, that when I actually got Factorio and started playing, when I heard the music playing, the same one from this video, I thought I was hallucinating, and my lack of sleep did NOT help that
I just found myself clicking replay at the end there. I'm still dazed and in awe. Thank you?

I will never forget how this was my first introduction to Ambiguous amphibian... I didn't understand at first. my mind had not been expanded. I clearly had not experienced all that I had needed to, my knowledge was lacking, so I learned. I acquired the knowledge and now I can confidently say... this opening is still unhinged but now I love AA for it.
I just woke up and started watching this video, the intro and outro had me actin different

The more they post the happier I am I found this strange prophet frog while he guided a prophet Gerald Williams at the edge of the world.
If I had a nickel for every time I saw a different CZcamsr with a frog mascot playing Factorio in an entertaining, highly polished, well edited video, I’d have two nickels. Which isn’t that much but it’s weird that it happened twice.
this video rewired my brain in just first 2 seconds. with this open mind now i can conqure the galaxy using my intellect. thank you.
I just need to say how much I appreciate your editing style amphibian. You have me cackling at your edits. The fucking Sea King...
I managed to make a complete gameplay of Seablock (lasted about 400 ish hours) and at the end of it I thought my IQ increased by at least 5 points from it :O
legitimately my favorite channel on YT. Videos are getting better every release. Love what you're doing and can't wait for more!!
I think seablock, at its core, is the ultimate challenge in resource management. You spawn on a tiny island in an empty ocean. All you have is a boulder, some supplies, and an island to stand on.
Techno blade never dies
I REALLY enjoyed you ramping up the weirdness to the extent you have in this video. More of this, please!
Ahh bob's mods and angels ores, nothing oils my gears quite like those two mods.
It's almost too much. Like get an optimization job at an actual factory at that point I'm sure the pay is great
As ever, it was an experience.
I always find myself coming back to this AA video. It perfectly captures the joys of factorio, and the struggle of jumping into a new ridiculous mod with no clue of the production chains. He makes like no progress at all but the vibes are impeccable. I find myself quoting "... NON STANDARD" to myself a lot.
I love this weird surreal poetry you weave into your videos, they're so unique

I like this kind of video with the silly but very well planned out script that actually is informative. I know it takes longer to make these type of videos but damn do I appreciate it all! Great work!
I never really was into Factorio, but I don't know why, I feel like this was the best AA video ever... The beginning had me in tears cause I was laughing so god damn hard, and the rest just got me hooked. Loved it !
I'm loving the evolution in your editing style recently, the reverb on key words is very Bill Wurtz esq

Ah, the inexorable call of madness. What sweet music it makes. Please continue to succumb to whatever eldritch force has contacted you, AA. It will lead you to ever greater heights. Just don't think too much about what it asks of you in return.
when you went down the list of guides I knew I'd see Zisteau's name there. he has a shit-ton of cool factorio videos!
Edit: also looks like he beat seablock as well. he's an expert at the game and it took him 280 hrs to beat it, edited down to 41 episodes.
ambiguous back at it again with another factorio banger
New to AA and just binged his videos. One cannot ignore the discernable descent into madness as he uploads every new video.
Man, I wish these were longer.
Absolutely mesmerizing
Oh blessed cursed content. Wonderful, truly.
For once CZcams, I thank you for actually notifying me early!
Dude nice work on audio pacing. It's nice to listen with a little space for everything. Feels way less frantic and I truly enjoy it. Well done.
I appreciate lots of your content, and your Factorio productions are my favourite. So, there.
Perfectly normal reaction to playing sea block
This video is comprised entirely of the chaotic AA energy that I live for.
I love the calm chaotic energy this video, and you, AA, has
Yeah, Seablock was an interesting experience when I gave it a try, quite a change from vanilla, and very complex, but was fun for a while, never really 'finished' that playthrough, I mostly remember trying to make my factory work to produce the 8 or so different ores I'd unlocked.
Congrats, you got about as far into Seablock as anyone does.
ive waited for this
Love your work man. Feels like the videos are getting better and better each time. I'm seriously surprised you haven't grown faster but please keep up the great content.
I just found your youtube channel and it is THE most entertaining thing I've watched all year. Please make more, I'm a junky and running out of your old videos to watch.
The intros are getting really unstable.
And the videos are getting better! I feel there is a correlation, and I am all for it
0:58 Yeah, I listened to that one clip like thirty times. I don't care what anyone says, he definitely did NOT say 'insects.' What are you trying to tell us about Florida, ambiguous?
I am loving your decent into madness.
cant wait wait for part 2!!! Bravo on this video
Every single one of your videos is better than the last. Thank you for all you do.
MORE!
please.
Also: I appreciate your poetry instead of actual talking. It is nice.
I love your videos. Whatever is fucked up in my head, those Vids feed it and it feels good.
Having finished seablock last year I can confirm this challenge takes FOREVER. That hour spent getting 1 more iron plate per second was an understatement you have to get more water for more electrolizers that require more power that require iron so you just leave it running overnight and come back to 22 iron plates because you landfill is full because EVERYTHING generates stone which clogs up once 1 burner crusher gets backed up because you placed a belt in the wrong orientation but after fixing all that and adding just 25 more buildings, 103 more belts and 64 more inserters you have 1 more iron per second. And then later on you swap to solar and are just okay with nightly blackouts for like 3 nights before researching accumulators automating them and realizing 2 months have gone by and your hungry for more AUTOMATION.
This is amazing from start to finish
Ah finally, the ultra rare THX philosophical frog intro thats been living rent free in my head recently
I remember seablock. You can set up a loop to make various organic materials. If set up correctly, some of them use very slightly less energy to produce than they give back if you burn them. My early game power consisted of a LOT of these organic materials being created and consuming only most of my power production
11:33 new slogan, "It ain't easy, being Greenie."
Not even a minute in and I have laughed so hard I knocked my drink over. You nailed it you glorious basted you nailed it.
As someone who only really watched the rimworld videos, I was not prepared for the editing on this one. And I loved it.
Love the THX intro. Amazing.
I have an idea for a vanilla "ultra death world". An infinite nest. Heavily forested to partially contain pollution, as the base should be the solitary island in an ocean of bugs. The migration mechanic is maxed out, so the already massive hives migrate into the small space between each other, and if you do not capitalize on conquered land, you will lose it quickly. Paired with only the small respite of a slightly increased starting safe area. I feel you'd get a kick out of it.
That was a majestic intro, thank you for the blessing.
absolutely excellent video, Your descent into madness was entertaining
There was something almost story like about this vid, i was enjoying that quite alot. yeh definitely worth a sub.
So many videos are philosophical or calming in nature. Whenever his videos shift from calming to absolutely off the rails, I question if I've found myself in an alternate universe.
funny, I just begann playing seablock when you uploaded this, I approve!
Your vids give me life, thank you so much for the content
For anyone curious, power in seablock works like this:
Every machine requires power as per normal, but a much larger percentage of your power goes into buildings to make materials to burn for power. I don't have handy numbers for vanilla Factorio, but it's relatively cheap, power wise, to throw down a coal patch worth of electric miners and a bunch of steam engines. The only input you need is the power for the miners and inserters; everything else is pure "profit" power to be spent by the rest of the factory.
In sea block, you have to synthesize materials using multiple steps and this cuts into your "profit" power massively. As he points out in the video, you need cellulose fiber and then there's a multi step wood refining process. Each step costs some energy, but adds more energy than it consumes, to the point that fuel can come out the other side with 50% increased fuel value in Mj, or even up to double the input value at the high end. But every step drains some power, so with basic green algae power, you're going to be spending 30-40% of your power to keep making that power.
Worse, if you don't have overbuilt production, any dip in power will lower the speed of producing that fuel, which can lead to power death spirals. It's strongly recommended to have the power generation power itself on a separate circuit, or at least make it easy to disconnect from the rest of the factory if you have to restart.
This all gets much better when you get farms; making fuel oil from nutrient pulp takes less space, fewer buildings, and less power to produce a certain amount of power than algae does; with a good farm recipe, you go down to spending just 5-10% of your power on making power, with less space needed to boot.
Edit: wanted to point out that's part of why AA is struggling so hard on power. He's just making cellulose fiber and feeding it into things that burn it directly. Turning it fiber>wood chips>Wood bricks>charcoal is something like 60-70% more fuel value for the modest cost of having machines to do those steps
I find myself coming back to watch this masterpiece of a video every few months.
