- We got stuck on the Half Dome cables when we hiked in Yosemite National Park. Half Dome is the hardest hike in the park.

This is the best put together video I’ve seen on the Half Dome hikes.
Thank you! I try to make it as informative as possible. Thanks for watching
This brought back memories! I’ve hiked it twice. Fantastic video! ❤❤❤❤
Thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed it. I hope to get back to Yosemite and try Clouds Rest next time.
Love that you picked up someone else's chip bag! I would hike with you any day. :)
Gotta keep our parks clean and beautiful 🙌🏻
Great video! My daughter was hiking this with her Young Adult group this week. I wanted to see what she was experiencing and your video really captured a lot of the beauty and reality. Thank you for such a well done video!
Thanks for watching. I hope your daughter has a good experience and enjoys the hike. It’s an epic one! Definitely gives you a big sense of accomplishment when you get done
Loved the hike! Fellow half dome hiker - you captured it well!!! We used to start the hike at 2:30am ( to beat the crowd and heat),but the last time we did due to Covid rules we had to start after 5am:( it got so hot!
Awesome 👏🏻 Yeah we hiked in early June, and the cables went up 2 days before we arrived so it was a snowy and cool spring that year. The weather was perfect, about 50-60 all day. Any hikes coming up? I’m doing Havasupi in April!
I will do this hike this year. I would like to start at midnight but i'm afraid to face a bear alone in the midle of the night.
@@afnovais yeah I would be afraid of bears as well. I was scared of them even during the day
Really good video, brought back the recent memories of completing half dome which I did in August '22. Two tips from my trip: 1. consider going up the mist trail (like you guys did), but on the way down use the John Muir trail, which you pick up at the top of Nevada falls. It is slightly longer but it allows you to avoid all those rock steps between Nevada Falls, down past vernal falls. 2. Beer and pizza at Curry Village once you're back in the valley!
Thanks! We were considering the John Muir on the way down, but we were pretty tired and the mist was shorter so we opted to do that. Next time I definitely will do the Muir though 🙌🏻
Love it. Thank you so much for taking the time to put this together Sarah. What a great way to memorialize our adventure together!
We need to go back to Yosemite and do the Tolumene Meadows part that we missed last time!
Way to go! Thank you for taking us along on your adventure up Half Dome! Enjoyed your commentary, as well as, the added captions of information that you included along the way. Crazy to see the raging falls & traffic jam up the cables while you were there. Your video is very helpful for anyone planning to hike Half Dome. 👍
Thanks! It was definitely an experience of a lifetime. I love hiking and this is still one of my favorites!
that was great. thank you
Thanks for watching 🙏🏼
Thank you for sharing your adventure with everyone. I really enjoyed it. I go into Yosemite Valley twice a week to make deliveries but I have never gone up there to take the big hikes, so thank you!
Thanks for watching. I’m glad that people who can’t hike it can see the trail. Maybe one day you will be able to do some of the big ones 🙌🏻
Thanks for taking me along on your adventure!
Thanks for coming along. Have you been to Yosemite?
I did this hike on 6/22/22 and am just now watching this video. Thank you!
It’s such a great hike! Glad you could do it
Outstanding production!! Thoroughly enjoyed it. Suitable for TV broadcast. Your preparation was obvious, trekking poles are an essential piece of equipment that many folks overlook. Thanks for sharing! I hope California was nice to you during your visit.
Thank you so much! I really loved it and I am planning on returning to hike some more trails! Yosemite is such a beautiful area.
So amazing!
Thanks
This looks like a fun hike
It’s fun but also tough! Makes it a great accomplishment when you are finished though! Hope you get to hike it one day
Yes Please 2023. Half Dome!
I hope you get to do it! Have you applied for the lottery?
@@whereivebeenwandering - Yes, I've applied to the lottery before, I'll be applying again in March.
Why doesn’t everybody have those clip on things to hook onto these cables? And why wasn’t that all the way through the hiking trail when it got to the granite mountains?
Some people choose to wear a harness when they do half dome. Personally I didn’t think it was necessary, but I do a ton of hiking and climbing. I think it would be for peace of mind or for people who aren’t confident in their upper body strength and their hiking skills. If you have a harness and want to bring it, you could put it in your backpack and then put it on once you get to the cables 🙌🏻
wonderful. and i feel your pain, along with your success. years ago, when i wasn't so old, i hiked in and out of the grand canyon, and consider that as my adventure of a life time. that entire part of the country is so awesome....enjoy your journeys.
R2R at the Grand Canyon is the next big adventure on my list! Did you stay the night at the bottom?
Great hike! I do not like those crowds on the cables though. It’s so awesome going up the mist Trail in the spring.
Yes! I wish it wasn’t so crowded but unfortunately everyone seems to start at the same time
awesome video.I was surprised you haul the big camera with you but added no "stills"until the end lol I'm no expert but i try to add stills when i make a video.Ill be there in june
My camera actually isn’t all that heavy. It’s a Sony a6300 with a 10-18 mm f4 lens. So pretty light. Have a great time! We hiked in early June too and it was perfect conditions. The waterfalls were raging. It will probably be even more water flow with how much snow the area has gotten this year.
@@whereivebeenwandering I carry a nikon d7200 with a couple different lenses so it does weigh little lol if ya got time i posted a yosemite video from my last visit.can't wait!!
I went for my final of three trips, prior to the permit system., and it was really crowded going up and down....unsafe crowded. I told one of the rangers they needed a permit system. Glad they Instituted one. My second trip was with the cables only in the Fall. That was exciting.
Even with the permit system in place, there seems to be peak times when lots of people are on the cables. If we would have started up just an hour later than we had, there wouldn’t have been anyone on them.
Fetes howt..blasters..chaffin haerd
Those will get ya
thank you for the sharing, may I know did you go Half dome on this date? ( 2021年9月24日 We got stuck on the Half Dome cables ...) still lot of water on the Vernal falls...
We went in June. If I remember right it was only the 5th day after the cables were put up in the spring. Such a great experience 🙌🏻
What brand was that camera mount on your backpack strap
It’s a capture clip by peak design www.peakdesign.com/collections/clips/products/capture
I absolutely love it. With my Sony a6300 and 10-18mm lens I can take the camera on and off with one hand
Mam a request,
Please upload videos now you are not active from 7 months ,
Please mam, your content is awesome,
A fan from india
Thanks! I’m working on a video now
Thank you for sharing with us, how hard of a hike would you say it is? Do you need proper gear ? Thanks
It’s definitely one of the toughest hikes I’ve ever done and I am an avid hiker. If you are afraid of heights, I wouldn’t recommend this hike. It’s a long hike at about 20 miles from the parking lot, so it’s the length combined with the elevation gains that really make it tough. It’s very rewarding though, because you get a big sense of accomplishment afterwards
Thank you for replying. I did it! Every step and drop of sweat was worth it :). Thank you for replying
@@danihp3242 🙌🏻 Awesome! Glad you got to complete it! Such a great accomplishment
Which gloves did you use for this hike?
I used Carhartt C Grip pro palm gloves. You can get them online or at Fleet Farm for like 12$. They were soooo grippy and comfortable
www.carhartt.com/product/800198-033S
What time did start at the trail head?
We started at about 5:30-5:45
How hard was it to get the permit?
We had 4 people apply and 1 got it. We hiked the first week of June which was still early season that year. One of the people in our group could not do the hike and we met a guy along the trail and hiked up with us on our permit. If you are all by yourself all you have to do is hike to the sub dome and then ask people as they come up in more than likely there will be people who will have a spare permit with them
There should be 3 cables so people could pass
That would actually be an awesome idea. If there were three the slow people could go up one side and the fast ones could go up another. It would actually be safer that way
You can just step outside and make another passing lane no problem.
We eventually did step outside once we got closer to the top
Love the video but the audio mixing is horrible.
You would perfer it without the music? I am always looking for tips to improve
