Laoshu is watching and guiding them. 🐀
@@meriez2892how long did it take for each one? I’m learning German and I’ve reached a plateau.
@@olafharoldsonnii4713 when that happens to me i usually take a like a two week break some might consider this crazy or whatever but it works for me. On the other you HAVE TO HAVE daily input of some sort ready is to me is really good also journal day. The hardest skill for me to attain was listening. So look at videos that you have interest for in the language. Hope that was helpful, blessings to you on tour journey. You got it
immersion, immersion, immersion.... punishment for speaking english seems harsh, but I get the drive. My son did a year in Turkey. State Dept program called NSLI-Y. 7 hours a day in the Turkish high school from Day 1 followed by 3-4 hours a day in a private language school, coupled with living with a host family who had little to no English. He was fluent in 4-5 months.
Nothing beats it. Every other method is really in support of it. It still surprises me people learning languages don't factor in travel and living elsewhere in their life plans.
@@musical_lolu4811 so true. I spent 2+ years in Spain but working in English at Amazon. Never took a Spanish class. But I still was able to learn enough to feel comfortable in social situations and shopping in Spanish. My grammar was lacking but I made due. Being there. Using it every day in stores, at tapas bars, on the bike trails in groups etc. you have to try to always view it as fun and it will happen.
My father's first foreign language course was German at the Presidio in San Francisco back when that was an Army base and total immersion experience. He spent the 1960s as a signal interception / listening post technician at Teufelsberg in Berlin, behind the Iron Curtain.
Eventually he joined the NSA as a linguist and over the course of his career added another 8 languages. I remember when he learned Turkish over the summer, and it still blows my mind.
Polyglots are amazing to me.
Oh nice, what city in Turkey?
@@edboss36 he spent 9 months in Trabzon.
this is such a beautiful thing. thank you gentleman for this great conversation!
Great interview...thanks a lot for sharing, guys!
¡Me encanta esto podcast! He estado aprendiendo español durante 8 meses y me gusta aprender sobre la teoría de lenguaje.
This is motivating me to double down on my Portuguese. Great video.
concordo, eu tenho sido preguiçoso kkkk
You both are amazingly good
Because I watched a lot of his videos, CZcams recommended some videos on your channel! :-) Checking them out now.
This is awesome. I'm currently semi fluent in Spanish and starting to learn Hindi
अच्छा!
Man, you interview really well. Sounds super natural and fun to listen to. Great job :) didn’t expect to watch the whole thing but I loved it!!
Very interesting😊
Try to learn one of the most difficult languages.... GREEK !
We are very proud of our language.
Good luck 😂😂 I'm still learning to speak a very good English despite I've been educated since I'was a kid. And It's still not good enough to maintain a conversation 😢
Thank you
nice content
Middlebury College is another institution which has a target language-only policy.
Peace Corps is similar.
As for me, I am learning Tagalog 😌 I was in The Philippines 🇵🇭 in 2022. Total immersion works. 👍
I'm going to watch this video because my wife and I are going to move there, but I'm going to learn her local dialect there that only 3 million people speak. :)
I'm sure I will pick up some Tagalog over time as well, but my focus will be on the local dialect because people there hate Tagalog.
Agreed 👍 In Metro Manila, I spoke in Tagalog. Pinoys there were helpful. 😃
When I traveled outside of there, the locals decided to speak English to me although they are fluent in Tagalog; they preferred THEIR language, not Tagalog. I asked why. He said 1 that they want to stick with their mother 👩 tongue because Tagalog is a 2nd or 3rd language to them and 2 some of the speakers he knows do not want much to deal with Metro Manila unless necessary. I concluded that it was local pride. He agreed 👍
Wish you well on your travel to The Philippines 🇵🇭.
@@WineSippingCowboyThanks!
I already ordered a book to study Waray-Waray.
I do know that people there call Tagalog "TANGalog", which supposedly translates to something like "Stupid language".
They think it sounds much too harsh, Waray sounds more friendly and smooth. (Cebuano is more like a "Yo yo!"-street language to them.)
Can u make a video on how you go about learning a language, I’ve been trying to solo learn Spanish for a year and I’m about to quit…. I feel like I’m not at the level I should be.
Always exciting when my favourite CZcams polyglots talk to each other
RIP Moses

What was the controversy around Moses' death?
His name is Gabriel Poliglota 😊
best way to learn is take online classes with native speakers. I cannot believe they did not mention that.
can you expand on this? Online classes with native speakers?
@@dirkpitt7857 There are sights like Preply and Baselang that have live native tutors. You are not going to get any better than a live Tutor.
Not necessarily. Alot of native speakers can't tell you how they learned. Someone who learned your target language is a better teacher since they have experience in learning to the exact stage you want to
There are plenty of native speakers who are monolingual and have never learned a language themselves as adults, therefore, they're not always the best choice as tutors
@@AceofShaq well the point i am making is that you cant even teach on Preply if you don't' know how to teach I think they screen the Tutors. This why when I am looking for a Tutor I am very Picky when I look at the resume video. If they can't speak English and the there Native language i skip right over them. most of them Introduce them selves in their Native language then switch to English or vise or versa.
I want wanted to learn Spanish , German
Not to be rude but I see the "flex" videos that remind me of Moses...I see they get tons of views- I wish though you'd do more on HOW YOU LEARNED 9 Languages- like actually help us?
I know u may mention it in videos- but are there how to videos on your channel from you? I'll check out more of the advice interview videos.
Thanks, cause 9 languages is REALLY IMPRESSIVE.
For one of them he mentioned watching the Extra series on CZcams. He’s also a footballer who seems to live overseas sometimes so maybe immersion 🤷🏾♀️
Wasn't really a fan of the interviewee. Didn't really give any solid advice and was constantly interrupting Will as he spoke. Seemed to be really all over the place and barely aware of the fact that he was on camera.
Extremely busy father took time out of parenting and business while at home to speak for 30 minutes. The lessons are in there, now go and use your initiative.
No way Aris last name is Smith 😂 don't think I've ever seen a Jewish person with that name

Xiamannyc spent several years in China learning Mandarin. Later, he released a heavily edited video on how to learn Spanish in a week and suddenly he's a language expert? What a joke!
Yeah, his videos always seem a bit silly. Speaks like 5 sentences to 5 people and calls it "Speaking Africaans with South Africans".
Yeah, Dutch is not easy for English speakers.
Thank You...

Interesting how all humans want to communicate with each other we’re getting closer to being on the same page to reach heaven
Not a hater. Soccer player is legit. But Ari learned one language over a decade living there... Stop including him in the Moses Kaufman group. He's a CZcamsr fluffing his content to look impressive. I knew his 3 would include English and Spanish. He's less impressive than Benny lewis and in the matt vs Japan group. Impressive on one hard language. Like a one trick pony trying to make a CZcams channel. Soccer guy is for real
Yup agree with everything
Don't forget all of his clickbait titles like "white guy speaks PERFECT insert language*
when he clearly is not even close to speaking it perfectly
Absolutely, I used to watch him years ago when he was posting funny videos speaking Mandarin in China Town in NYC. Suddenly, he published a heavily edited video claiming to learn spanish in a week and suddenly he's a language expert. He spent years in China to learn Mandarin and I doubt he knows Spanish well enough to claim fluency. Hardly, a language expert.
He spent a year in China, not a decade. He's been speaking it for a decade. Learning Spanish to fluency is impressive considering he did it outside of school. He has a lot of knowledge and experience with language learning techniques, and is transparent about the fact that he hasn't actually learned all these languages he does for videos - unlike most so-called polyglots I see on CZcams. Anyway, you're mentally ill and should stop obsessing over "groups" and whether people are "impressive".
He lived in beijing for 1 year and yeah he learned those and why is it of course spanish? learning any language is hard why diminish someone else’s accomplishments? How many languages do you speak? Do you feel he didn’t have to work as hard because of his opportunities? really childish take of yours. He clickbait’s whatever. But to say he isn’t impressive is reductive. I’m sorry you’re such a sad person you have to put others down.
First
It's not controversial it's fact...his own family is talking out about it and anyone that's been following both of his chanels and know about about his personal life it's pretty obvious what happened not to mention that his chanels been stolen by the devil herself ....
Terrible to think these things can happen to such a person
What happened?
