It's great that they're still using the same theme since 1983 this one of the best themes on news channels
That theme music is iconic in the UK - hope they never change it!
Eduardo S. Baluyot III ABC National stole this theme.
Watch all the ABC intros from Australia and you will recognize the National.
@Private Channel and KTSP (KSAZ) TV Newscenter 10
Didn't like their first one though
@@davidtownson1476 Agreed
That theme song will never get old.
Memories of growing up. Awesome theme. Love it. Oh. I love it.
1:22 Oh wow, I've just realised that the 4 design is actually from a commissioned overhaul of the channel's logo which was ditched. Looks like it was too late to stop it going out in the news titles. I see they amended it with the proper 4 logo soon after.
RIP Peter Sissons (1942-2019) 😭
Theresa May looks so different at the four minute mark.
Funny how they rebounded so dramatically from a truly awful news theme at launch to possibly the most perfect news theme ever written
Reminds me of my dad so much, used to whistle this through his teeth all the time 😂💖
“Denmark votes again, the polls are closing, first indications are... it is yes!” fucking YESSSSSSS man
He left this year 😔😔😔 Classic news prestener
For 40 years, this piece of music only had slight changes, like the note pitches. But other than that, it’s literally the same tune for every visual change.
The theme from 2 to 6 was the best reminds me of growing up as a child and teenager. Peter Sissons, Jon Snow, Nicholas Owen etc were the legendary newsreaders. If anything I don't remember the 1st theme at all grew up with the 1 after
The young looking Jon Snow sort of looks like Niles Crane from Frasier.
Unchanged music since 1982! I love this theme
When I was younger I used to try to make up words to this theme.
saw the very first channel 4 news
Those are some sweeeeeet titles!
Thanks, please do one for Channel 5 news (UK)
Yes, please do. Even though they used Sky News to make their bulletins for a few years
2007-2011 brings back early childhood memories
Loved the big ITN at the start of the programme
3:23. That didn't age well
Yeah, god, can’t imagine 52 in lockdown
This is ITN's Channel 4 News in 1982 to present.
I saw the present Channel 4 news intro when i made this comment, And it was about the Coronavirus! :(
There should be a compilation of every time Jon Snow has said "good evening"
I was hoping for this too 😄
Folks, this is absolutely top notch entertainment
Essa trilha S2!😍
The 1999 one sounds like it is being played in water.
Wonder why the original 'Channel 4 News' theme lasted less than a year, and the second theme continued to be used with some modifications, for decades?
I think it was because C4 News was an utter disaster (and that's putting it lightly) in the beginning, so it was completely overhauled, and that included the music.
Happy 40th Birthday Channel 4 News!
plz upload NHK News 7 and NHK World News
Dang. That ITN logo._.
Love it. Sad the news on ITV dropped it.
Here's some news....lots of news....lots of news....so much news....just for you!
How long did the first one last for? And were they intending to change the music even at the start of the channel, since they must have had it being composed in order for it to be ready for the end of 1982 on 4th November?
It didn't last very long. Maybe just a few weeks. It has been forgotten that at first Channel 4 News was a disaster. There is another video with some continuity before the first edition Channel 4 News which described it as a "completely new style of news programme". That new style was practically unwatchable and quite soon there were rumours of it getting zero ratings it the viewing figures. This prompted an early major revamp which included putting the presenters behind desks an having the headlines and main stories at the start of the programme as well as as changing the theme music to the one we are familiar with today.
The second theme was composed all the way back in the late 1960s.
The long musics in 1995 to 2004.
The music is very first time in 1982 to 1983.
BING BING BOOOOONG BING BING BONG, BING BING BONG BING BING BONG BING BING BOOOONG
The 90's themes are almost identical to HBB TV in Turkey
I think the 1987-1990 version is taken from one of my videos. Sorry about the poor quality!
3:20 That looks a bit 2020's!
Where did the guy at 3:20 go?
Alex Thomson is still with Channel 4 News - he is Chief Correspondent and has still been an occasional presenter of the programme in recent years.
The current intro looks rather cheap. I think this shows AJ+ and NowThis graphic design look rather poor on the big screen IMO.
Star Guy Thing
Channels prefer to have a flat design nowadays....
The short musics in 1983 to 1995 and 2004 to present.
4:29 What was that about?
Sean Patchen Terrorists in Syria
Syrian opposition. Russian officials consider them terrorists.
Channel 4 News was more in depth than the news on ITV it seems ITV rushed their news programming Channel 4 took their time and had more than just the news and weather
We had all day to work on Channel Four News and the programme was longer. But over on ITV we did News at One, Five Forty Five and News at Ten all on the same shift.
So itv basically own c4
itn not itv
In the early days, the ITA ran channel 4 but now I believe its a seperate thing. C4 was also promoted on ITV and ITV produce programs for C4. ITN have always made the news programs on ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5.
Sky News did the news on Channel 5 for ages in the middle. 2005 - 2012 I think.
@@fiverZ Well said. I was going to mention it, but you got there first.
@@cameronyoungcg9270 I remember when ITV had live athletics from 8, it always switched to Channel 4 at 9.
2:36 i thought he was gonna say coronavirus 😅 😂
Don't you mean 3:26?
2:57 He delivered on that one didn't he?
Commie Bliar!
Old Old
Re-living 3 Thatcher/Major governments, New Labour, and 7 more years of Conservative government. Woo hoo!
This theme should be remixed and rearranged with a modern composition!
The music is actually ageless, so saying "modern composition" redundant. It works in 2017 the same way it did back in 82
