  • Sara Davis Buechner performs the Allegro from Haydn's last Piano Sonata, No. 52 in E-flat Major (Hob XVI/52), written in 1794. Dedicated to celebrated piano virtuoso Therese Jansen, this sonata modulates to remote keys. The second theme makes a radical traversal to E major, just a half-step away. See Sara's related discussion of this work in "Sara Davis Buechner on Music."

This is both a very sensitive and virtuosic performance of the first movement. Love the crispness of execution in the decsending thirds and abundant thirty-second note flourishes. Everything clear and in proportion. Thank you for sharing!

Brava!Brava!
