When Halo Infinite came out 2 years ago I had no desire to review it, the game itself was so bad that it made me genuinely consider quitting reviewing videogames altogether, sending me even deeper into a pre-existing depression. For 2 years I didn't review any videogames on this channel. A couple months back I finally reviewed Far Cry 6, which proved to me that I was finally ready to hop back into the saddle and continue reviewing videogames. So I finally buckled down and reviewed Halo: Infinite.

Damn, humanity spent all those years, resources, and lives fighting the covenant when all they needed to do was invent the grapple hook
It really is so fucking stupid 😂
Even easier, all they had to do was have the high ground.
Ask Anakin, it works every time.
Maybe the brutes ai was actually just really smart and knew that once we had the high ground, defeat was only a matter of time.
Damn straight the Grappling Hook is the savior of humanity.
For the past 20 years I've been saying every game needs a grappling hook and Halo Infinite is one of the greatest games of all time if only for this reason.
Any game that doesn't have a grappling hook feels dumb and stupid, if grappling hooks ever become a mindless industry fad I will give 100% support to that fad.
Animal Crossing with Grappling Hook? Yes please.
Gran Turismo with a Grappling Hook? Absolutely.
Chess, but all the pieces have grappling hooks, would be the first time in a thousand years that something better than the original Chess was created.
Even more hilarious considering we have jetpacks 😂
Hilariously, I got to hear "halo fans" bitch and moan 4 and 5 were too much like CoD
They were applauding when they ripped off the titanfall grapple hook.
Modern halo is proof that it's OK to let franchises end.
Crazy how similar halo and star wars have been since they both changed leadership
Sad, but true
SAY IT AINT SO!
@edinbitter100 honestly, I feel like this about entertainment as a whole. Everything seems either watered down, made stupidly, or turned into a terrible and extreme political statement. Idk what's going on, but it's killing all forms of entertainment
not end but don't rely on just one studio, don't put all eggs in one basket.
I mean when 80% of your studio is made out of temporary contractors to save money of course shit is gonna hit the fan.
On top of that, most of the permanent staff either dont play/care about Halo or dont play games at all.
@@aceambling7685That reminds me of something. Someone tried to ask the Halo Subreddit that if Bonnie Ross plays Halo and his post got quickly removed and the guy banned. Says a lot about them based on their actions unfortunately.

@@ravneo I get your point and you're not wrong but I don't assume the permanent staff is who worked on the tank controls. I heard it's better with a controller but I could never be bothered to check for myself.
The worst thing about 343 is how much story happens off screen and between games…. Still can’t forgive them them for not finishing the Cortona story on screen.
Having to read entries in other media, just to get caught up with the games, is the _dumbest_ narrative decision 343 ever made.
They did finish Cortana's story... And then decided to continue it and destroy her character.
this has been bugging me for the longest time, not the story, people complaining they need to read a bunch of books or whatever to understand the story.
between 4 and 5, yes theres alot of story but nothing that was too important that needed a lot of explaining, 5 seemed to explain enough ingame. Now with infinite it makes sense.
@@dg7347 "Nothing that was too important"
- How the fuck is Cortana suddenly alive again
- Where the hell did all these Spartans come from
- Why is Buck a Spartan-VI after previously being an ODST. What happened to his old squad
- Who the fuck is the Warden Eternal
- Where and when did Chief suddenly buddy up with his old team who have had no notable mention in the previous games
- Why is Halsey a prisoner of the Covenant and what happened to her arm
And no, I don't consider a side mode in Halo 4 that take weeks to release content after the main game as a supplement. A large portion of people want to experience Halo for the main story and that's where they should expect it to be contained. Excusing these things is the exact reason why Halo 5 and Halo Infinite have so many complaints around how they don't even feel connected to the previous game.
@@aspookyscaryskeleton1474 some things im pretty sure they wanted to keep a mystery obviously revealing too much in one game would be alot but other stuff just isn't important to immediate story.
-after chief nuked the didacts ship it went into slipspace with cortanas remains to genesis, where she was healed by the domain, as she states in halo 5.
-halo 4 showed us lots of spartans, if you mean why specifically the ones we play as in 5, why does it matter? no one really questioned playing as chief, so why now with them?
-halo 4 spartan ops, soldiers can volunteer for the spartan 4 program, so i assume he did just that. where's his team? if it was that important im sure it would be given its own game.
-see thats one of the mysteries, probably would've been solved in the next game.
-i think thats more a question for bungie, apparently they've been around since ce.
-you clearly didn't play spartan ops, it may be a side mode but it's still tied to the main story. if you can't be bothered to play a little game mode in a main game to understand the story, that's on you not 343.
In my head canon, the Halo Franchise ended when Chief got in the Cryo Tube in the Forward Unto Dawn. They never actually found him. The next 3 games have all been dreams he's having.
Fever dreams
I'd say they'd never go with that, but that's basically what Red Vs Blue has done to retcon everything past Season 14, so, hey, it may actually happen !
It's all in your head Luigi
you're mad because halo 4 is good game

Ya duerman a los bungilebers cómo a los perritos:
Tbh I've always felt like the positive response around the campaign of infinite was a big cope to lack of content in general. I mean basically nothing happens, the big villain dies off screen, and you're last second introduced to some new threat and it's over. I Guess when you've been given what 343 gives you you think the scrapings of the bottom of the barrel is something to behold.
That's exactly it. It's just very very bland and forgettable. Understandably that's seen as a win when former 343 outings were more openly insultingly bad.
I think bland is one of the worst things halo can be though
And the same environment, no scary sections, no snowy sections, it's just forerunner stuff and grass.
I think the campaign seemed good until it ended with nothing discernable happening in it.
to me the campaign was good, not because of the story (it was bad) but because of the environments and gameplay. It felt tactical to me, like Halo was meant to be, and the enemies, guns, and vehicles were more fun than most AAA games I've played in the last decade. I should say though, I didn't grow up with Halo games, I only got into them as an adult a few years ago, so I don't really have a personal issue with 343 the way most Halo fans do. I understand what they've done it just doesn't really strike that same chord.
The campaign was incredibly fun imo. The story was generally whatever
The additional irony is that 343 Industries added ray traced shadows but only to the multi-player, not the campaign which needs it the most.
I mean what kind of sweatlord would play the multi-player with ray tracing? That's just an additional performance penalty.
Campaign is still buggy af even after all this time. They don't care.
343 making Cortana the villain is inexcusable.
THIS. Everyone glosses over this like it's no big deal but that couldn't be further from the truth. It just breaks Halo whether want to admit it or not. They needed to retcon it and restore her as a heroic character, instead they doubled down and had her BLOW UP A FUCKING PLANET! There is no coming back from this. It's over, unless they reboot halo to a post 3/4 timeline
@@angelsfallfirst but didn't they decide against it because they realised how bad of an idea it is?
I'd rather side with Cortana and let the entire universe die than go against her after what we went through.
@@Buttersaemmel Not really, no. Like I said, they didn’t retcon her villainy in any way and had her commit further atrocities. Killing her offscreen is not equivalent to changing their minds about it. Fixing it is.
@@Arander92 the comment i initially anwsered to is deleted it seems but it refered to how bungie wanted to do the same (cortana turning evil).
that was what i was refering to.
if i remember correctly, bungie ultimately decided against it because they thought it's a stupid idea.
I’m glad you picked apart the campaign. Basically every reviewer and person would just say “the campaign is fun, but multiplayer is bad”. Which I thought was such a cop out. The campaign absolutely sucks.
i think people played the first few sections of the campaign, saw the combat was pretty good and called it a day. The worst thing about the campaign imo is that literally nothing happens. The narrative doesn't move an inch from beginning to end
Yeah a lot of gamers were being optimistic at the time. But I'm glad most are finally realizing how disappointing the game really is.
@@SentinelExLiterally the only thing 343 absolutely *had* to do was just release a part 2 to the campaign along with Forge and that would have satisfied the player base for at least a year, and 343 couldn't even do that. The fact it seems like they're doing nothing but sitting on their asses makes the game feel even more dead than it probably is. It's like the game came out 10 years ago and the devs have long moved on, but no, it's only been a couple years. That depressing, empty feeling you get whenever you're Forging on a popular map like Valhalla by yourself, is the same feeling the entirety of Infinite has.
The campaign was sequel baiting after the first few missions. Imagine if Halo 1 talked about The Flood for 80% of the game without ever showing them.
Also why do the Banished want to kill humans? In Halo 1 I accepted it because we never got their point of view. In Halo 2 we got their point of view and learned the Covenant is based on some major misinterpretations. But in Infinite, we get their points of views which was good, but their motivations and purposes felt one dimensional or non-existent.
@@alexanderrobins7497 343 doesnt have the creativity to make an interesting enemy, all they can do is make a thousand covenant splinter factions
Finally someone talking about the problems with the campaign, it wasn’t just the multiplayer that sucked.
Personally I loved the campaign. I think this dude was severely hindered by playing on max difficulty
@@Halo-5-is-a-masterpiecelegendary is the best way to play halo
@@mitchie2267 that’s quite subjective. The man difficulty I play on is normal or heroic. To me legendary feels like a sweat fest.
There's a guy on youtube that made like a 4 hour documentary ripping apart Halo Infinite (split into 2 parts) and he touched on the campaign extensively.

I prefer Legendary plus at least 3 or 4 skulls. LASO is too much though. Anyone who says Legendary is too difficult cannot be taken too seriously.
No single console splitscreen is an absolute disgrace
It really is, thats a major staple of halo. Sitting next to a friend, playing the campaign together.
Which is funny because shortly after release people hacked it into the game using unused/deprecated/unfinished code, and it even mostly worked even on last-gen consoles.

For me, one small but emblematic example of the lost potential was when I couldn't grapple to board the phantom dropships.

I thought it was absolutely stupid that it was not physics base, you grapple a grunt and somehow the grunt is heavy enough to pull the chief towards them
I haven’t played Halo in a long time, but I always preferred Heroic. It felt the most balanced
Heroic was the intended way by Bungie to play Halo.
Heroic is the cannon difficulty
Skill issue
@@jordandittman9474 It is, except for Halo 1. The book was written by the author when he was playing Easy mode. In the swamp mission, there's usually a shotgun lying beside a crashed pelican. It was only there in easy mode.
Legendary is the real game.
the best part is, "rampancy" never meant "ai schizophrenia/dementia" before frank oconnor got his filthy mitts on the creative director position. in the bungie days, "rampancy" was basically the process of an AI becoming sentient.
That’s not at all how it was described in Fall of Reach which was published in 2001 long before 343i or Frank
Rampancy was coined in Marathon as becoming “sentient”. Halo took a different approach. They are functionally different concepts belonging to functionally different narratives.
@thespecialist3608 Right, and I’m saying 343 worked off of Bungies/halos narrative of rampancy so to criticize the story as a fault of 343 is dumb
@@300kz3 Hear hear. I’m not quite sure how Frank O’Connor’s “filthy mitts on the creative director position” as Britton said, justifies why the direction of rampancy in Halo’s definition is so weird of a direction to take- especially since it’s been a consistent device expressed in the books and other media.
I don’t expressly hate 343i in the direction they took either. There could’ve been a crapload of other studios that would have either ran it into the ground like the TV show, or ascended it beyond expectations. Seems we got the middleman in this timeline and I’m not at all complaining. It’s more or less just odd that Infinite gets the mark of “the downfall” of Halo as a continuing series- as if the devs could care less about the universe they’re currently maintaining. Compared to the pre-alpha build of Infinite? They’ve come far and can certainly go farther.
@300kz3 Frankie did not create the chief he was literally hired on during halo 3 development and ran parts of halo waypoint he is also the reason for the werid confusion of weather not forunner's are human (They were human under bungie) but Frankie thought differently and he is now THE sole reason why the forunners are a separate species
I'm so glad someone FINALLY called out Echo 216. People were way too eager to give him a pass to pretend he's a deep character because sad and not a Spartan
Echo 216 is nothing but your usual "Sci-Fi Daddy Misses his Wife and Kids" cliche. He was already annoying the moment I saw him and a Halo Content Creator who wasn't a shill for 343 already hated him.
He would’ve been completely fine if people hadn’t started to hype him

When it launched I had never seen or heard so much of ONE video game, it was insane, Everywhere I looked it was reach, the live action ad, the forge world release, the campaign had its og hype, ppl trying to get the legendary and limited edition for recon, halo reach was the beginning of the end, but it had nothing to do with its own quality. Even if Reach sucked ass, if the studio was pumping out quality titles it wouldn't have mattered. Not Bungies fault they designed this game to be fun and 343 designed their games for csgo/cod players
The OG trilogy launched a franchise, console, and countless careers for good reason. Halo Trilogy did to vidya industry what Star Wars trilogy did to movies. It was one of the games that made games mainstream when you think about it. Brought that storytelling method to the public conscience
Same reason why I think they were targeted for demoralization pzy ops IMHO

The original Halo Combat Evolved is by far my favorite game of the series. I love the way they balanced the weapons/gameplay/maps in this game. It's unique. It's so well thought out for all out fun. Yet if you want to play skilled modes you can too. You can couch co-op party play. Co-op the campaign. I love how the game is crafted to bring out certain types of play style with-in people. It leaves room for goofing around, while equally allowing for a test of your knowledge and skills of the game to see who can utilize things the best. The maps are so unique compared to other multiplayer games. They aren't just copying COD 3 lane map layouts. The campaign is great, the flood, the gathering of ammo, health packs, shields, cloak. The way they built it so you start out with base weapons and you each have to go around the map to aquire weapons and more during gameplay, really creates a awesome structure to how the game is needed to be played. +It's my opinion that The A.I. is by far the BEST A.I. It's so interesting to go up against the enemies in this game. The enemies have such diverse dynamic behavior and reaction responsiveness. Not just enemies, your own soldier's that team up with you to drive vehicle's in the story mode, really adds depth to the campaign mode. The level of customization of game modes is like nothing we have today. You could Customize your own personal character. You could make your own game modes. You could make Serious game modes or dorking around game modes or just all out crazy Overpowered madness game modes. I absolutely LOVE THIS GAME and I still own and play the OG version on a old school original Xbox as well as a Xbox 360. (I haven't gotten a Xbox system after the 360. 343's decision to turn Cortana into an antagonist from the previous games really screwed up the franchise.
they pretty much turned cortana into robo hitler
Or the fact that the forerunners were also retconed?
343 retconning the forerunners into a separate species(the prometheans) instead of ancient humanity(like in Bungie's original canon) was far more damaging.
@@McBoofus they also made the backstory of the flood be that they were remnants of the Precursors in the form of magic space dust, but ancient humanity fed the space dust to their pets, creating the flood.
You wanted this cosmic body horror space parasite that can destroy entire species to have a little bit of mystery to it? Too bad! And you know what? We’re gonna make the backstory really stupid too!
They tried the same thing with the Alien franchise, and it sucks there too.
Bit of an off topic rant, but this is an issue I see a lot with writing nowadays, especially in sci-fi/fantasy. We don’t need to know where the xenomorphs come from, you only need to explain just enough so the audience can fill in the blanks with their imagination. But no, everyone thinks they can be a Tolkien. Then, since they’re not Tolkien, they end up over explaining every element of their setting, even if it would be way cooler in the audience’s imagination.
Even Bungie thought of that idea before and they laughed at it for how bad it was. Not sure where i seen that but it must be there for everyone to see if you look it up. Also not sure when they said that, whether during Halo 3's development or any of the previous games.

The jitteriness, that input delay feeling, lack of feedback which made a lot of shots feel like they weren't registered. I pray 343 gets shut down. The last thing my money went to with their name on it was MCC on PC. And It'll never go to them again. I always considered Halo 4 canon. But after infinite, I'm officially uncanoning 343s marred legacy from the Halo universe. Just like the Star Wars Sequels.
They've been focused on making a game that they wanted to make instead of HALO itself.
It also seems that since they failed to grasp at old fans again they seemed to have gone full blown out for the halo 5 fans
not even lol. they even failed to cater to people who liked halo 5 lmao. art direction is literally so much worse in infinite and less consistent, and the game also has less unlockable content than in 5, hiding almost everything behind a battle pass lol. also no warzone and less content on launch iirc. legit the biggest epic fail in existence, letting down BOTH old fans and halo 5 fans.

I feel like at this point talking about Halo isn't even worth it anymore. This franchise hit an all time low in 2012 and ELEVEN YEARS LATER nothing has changed. This is fucking ridiculous. 343bola are professional trolls.
Renns videos are very underrated, i hope the youtube wave comes through
I was about to say "what are you talking about? he's got millions of subscribers" but it turns out this is only a mid-sized channel? That's insane, I never once considered that this guy wasn't a genuinely big youtuber.
I looked it up because I was curious if you had just left out any encounters...but uh...There are no Scarabs? Seems a bit odd because some of the best moments from 3 were those large open areas where you had these boss fights with Scarabs, and uh, well an open world just sounds obvious for including them. Seeing them wandering around in the distance, climbing up walls, attacking marines. I mean, can you imagine using a grappling hook to climb a scarab and take it down? That sounds pretty damn awesome to me on some Shadow of the Colossus stuff. Hell, their original purpose in the Covenant was for mining purposes, so maybe you hear or see them doing just that. They're also made of worms like the Hunters are so some cool events around that might be interesting, like forming together to make some large worm beast you hear burrowing underground occasionally popping up and fighting back. I'd also like the same with Drones, maybe make the sky go darker? Like the sheer amount is blocking out the light a bit and have swarms attack both you and the banished? Both of those would make for pretty interesting open-world encounters while changing up the gameplay.
The banished scarab looks sick too, was a shame to not see any in the game
They aren't made of worms. They are piloted by worms.
@@paperclip6377 Well that's what I mean I know they have all these computers armors and weapons and what not but the general part is those worms so I think it would be cool to explore more with what they can do plus not seeing a scarab is just sad because its perfect for infinite
@@DetectiveJones I thought you meant that because you said "forming together to make some karge worm beast"
Why does no one talk about how annoying this quirky tumblr version of Cortana is?
Ooh, an hour with my favorite little boy? That's a 'yes, please' from me.
i remember thinking boogie2988 had lose weight when i came across your channel, and needless to say, now my favorite little boy in the whole wide world is one of the most creative and original content creator. big ups Renn!
Holy shit 😂
It's like being handed a winning lottery ticket and then pouring white-out on top to change your numbers. Why did they change Halo so much? Who the hell knows.
Love that "30 seconds of NO fun" line
The AI in halo infinite isnt even as good as Halo 1, wtf
fucking finally some S+ tier content let's goo thank you so much renn can't wait to watch this you never dissapoints
Did 343 forget that the Drones / Yanme'e exist? They haven't been in a game since like Halo 3? What happened to them can someone explain this? Are 343 just being lazy? Also I would have loved new covenant enemy types...it gets so bland fighting the same grunts, elites, brutes, jackals, and hunters over and over again...give us something new! And no I ain't talking about Prometheans...
Great video as always Renn. You’re the best boy on this platform.
Jesus h Christ did you really just say this fucking dude is “tHe bEsT bOy oN tHiS pLaTfOrM” 😂

Halo: Reach was the last Halo game I ever invested time in, it was the last Halo that felt like Halo.
I have fond memories of being in a clan called the UN, god I miss those days.
Many of the gameplay systems/issues from 4 were introduced in Reach. You just say it "felt like Halo" because it says Bungie on the box.
@@tmac3d320 I literally couldn't give it a shit if it was made by lunatics in a garage or the best developers in the world, I couldn't care less.
My opinion still stands, especially since you're making baseless assumptions.
I like the game, but you're right that the multiplayer maps are too claustrophobic and maze-like. 343 is more obsessed with making Halo an e-sport instead of making it fun. They failed at both objectives.
Thank you for making this video. I played the mcc on pc and felt so excited for each new added game, playing every campaign and hundreds of hours of multiplayer. I was so excited for halo infinite. When it released I played the campaign for a few hours and the multiplayer a few times, but then could never bring myself to play it again. I just assumed that since I had grown older I no longer enjoyed video games so I stopped playing them for over a year. I recently realised that I do still love gaming, Halo Infinite was just incredibly bland and uninspired. I would never have been able to force myself to play through the whole campaign, and I appreciate you doing that for us. This was a great video and I am glad you made it. I love your videos and I'm happy to hear you're in a better place than you were when infinite released.
You should be grateful you didn’t start playing halo until it was in a tight little package for you on PC 😂
Personally, I refuse to buy MCC on PC until they include local co-op, which sadly will never happen. The fact that 3rd party software is needed for what has been a staple of the Halo franchise since the beginning is a complete slap in the face. I don't want to give 343 any money. If that means I never play Halo again, even the best way to play the older titles, so be it. They made their bed. Let them sit in it.
the dumpster greenscreen is top notch editing
It's a renn classic!
Good work Renn! Halo 1-4 was such a different time in gaming. Having LAN parties, making huge maps, CTF ❤
i've never played a COD outside of ww2 and warzone, but i thought those 2 COD reviews were the funniest things ever. i actually subscribed because of them and then was excited to see your past content. Renn you might not think those cod reviews were that great, but just know, to me it was the funniest thing I had seen on youtube in forever. I was cracking up for like a week straight at work lol
Halo infinite is the first and only game where I'm still so fucking salty about the $60 they scammed out of me. If I could get a refund through Steam, I fucking would. I stopped playing the multiplayer 3 months after "launch". The campaign even earlier (nothing to do). I was hoping for DLC to actually finish the campaign but that never did and never will come.
God I wish I had those $60 back, even if just to set them on fire so at least I'd have the satisfaction of being entertained by the flame and ashes
Since 343 only chases trends I am convinced they saw the Meathook from Doom Eternal, and that is why they added the grapple hook.
but unlike the meathook it breaks the enemies ai
Hey man on MCC you can fix your medals in the settings. No need to look at the H4 garbage designs.
You can also lower the crosshair to the true Halo position, no need to play with a handicap.
So many talentless, passionless hacks in the industry just collecting a paycheck. The AAA bubble is close to collapsing. At least I can say I lived through the best time the industry ever had, and can look back fondly on those memories.
I disagree with the notion of Chief being a generic and empty husk, he's always had a personality.
And I never liked the censored design that 343 gave New Cortana/The Weapon.
THANK YOU! Quiet does NOT mean emotionless/robotic
man Renn, if you wrote a book I'd totally read it. the scripts in your videos always got me giggling so much. 39:35 by far was one of my favorites.
One of my biggest issues with the game was the complete lack of depth in the world, there is no development other than the surface level and there never will be.
The open world can provide tonnes of possibilities for gameplay, saving squads of marines, should spawn missions where those same units that you saved are aiding the war effort, rng will determine their success without your help and every soldier saved should matter, maybe even being able to call them in to reinforce and secure positions, setting up little bases with unique benefits for each one, then having you make the choice of which benefits are worth having.
Find a powerful vehicle in the wild? Drive it back to your main base and it will spawn there now, your men will take them into combat and give them an edge in taking over the map, without your necessary interaction with them.
There are just more misses than hits in this game and it's a real shame, a tighter more scripted series of open areas, linked together by the narrative would be far more effective, both in story telling and gameplay than the bland open world we got.
And yet you can only blame joe staton for that fu€k up HE was the reason why the VAST majority of the game was cut 🙄
@@benclark4823
Sometimes content is cuts because it would actively ruin the experience.
@@alexanderrobins7497 the cut content op is mentioning is literally 75% of the game infinite was meant to be, the only reason they cut that 75% is because 343 couldn't develop it. The forest we see in infinite was literally meant to be a tutorial zone for a quarter of the story
im not mad about the cuts though, i doubt if 343 actually tried they could have delivered. i just wish the map wasn't just forest plus water
ONE HOUR OF RENN. LETS GO
This was a factual review, wake up sheeple!
You seriously bring some amazing effort to your videos. I hope you continue to do so for a while and the burnout doesn't catch up. I have a feeling you will skyrocket in views once the algorithm catches your effort.
I'm just sticking with MCC. A better example in my opinion.
I am glad you are back Renn, you are a little island of sanity in the sea of crap that is most of CZcams, seriously though don't burn yourself out for the channel, I am sure most of us would prefer less content as none at all mate. Respect, from a fan in Scotland.
you deserve 10x the subscibers and viewers you have, with the quality and effort of your videos
Riiight
Eh idk the cemetery moments were kinda disrespectful. Also, his joke segments are unbearable. But still an entertaining video.
Thank you for talking about the enemy AI! For some reason one of the only things that Infinite seems to get consistently praised for is its AI… which is ludicrous since CE had much more engaging enemies
SERIOUSLY:
How does: The Original Halo Combat Evolved, on the OG Xbox have some of the best A.i. -As well as the Left 4 Dead games. I love the way they arranged the weapons/gameplay/maps. It's so well thought out. You can couch co-op, party play. Co-op the campaign. It leaves room for goofing around, while equally allowing for a test of skills. The maps are unique compared to other games. The campaign is great, in Halo CE there's the flood, & L4D2 has super creative campaign maps, unique AI, complex AI behavior, gathering of ammo, health packs, The way they built it so you start out with base weapons and each player has to go around the map to aquire weapons during gameplay, really creates a awesome structure to how the game is played. +The A.I. is by far the BEST A.I. It's so interesting to go up against the enemies in this game. The enemies have such diverse dynamic behavior and reaction responsiveness. Not just enemies, but your own soldier's that team up with you in both L4D2 & Halo CE. The AI will actively drive vehicle's in the story mode, & fight alongside you as you go. It really adds depth to the campaign mode and just so much Fun. Timeless Fun. The level of customization of game modes is like nothing we have today. You could Customize your own personal character in Halo (for free). You could make your own game modes. You could make Serious game modes or dork around game modes or just all out crazy Overpowered madness game modes. Sheilds, & cloak abilities. I absolutely LOVE when a game can do this and it's the exact reason why I still own and play the OG versions on a old school original Xbox as well as a Xbox 360. (I haven't gotten a Xbox system after the 360. That era was the peak in my opinion)
I dont get how xbox & other game companies are putting in so much money into games yet nothing has come close to the utter interactive magic that L4D2 & Halo CE created & that was with limited hardware/software/tech capabilities. We should be able to create some amaxing things nowadays..
@@benmcreynolds8581don't forget half life 1's ai. That thing was great.
@@benmcreynolds8581 F.E.A.R I would say was even better.
I think Halo CE had great layouts and enemy placements that paired well with the AI.
What’s funny about the multiplayer is it felt super good in the beginning. It felt crisp but I played it last month and I was awful yes but everything was off and I just didn’t play well
Definitely a you problem, game is as good as it’s ever been, it’s not COD you can’t just hop in a dominate, takes actual skill

I forgot this game came out
You voiced all my thoughts about this game and then some. Amazing video!
Remember when Chief was "extremely lucky super soldier"?
Now he "old rouge with a terrible ass"
The storytelling in your video is better than the one in the game.
Great line about depression in the end. Hope you are doing better now.
Mcc is just full of hackers, the last time I played just guys flying around and I kept getting banned for simply being matched with them.
Finished work to see you uploaded a new video. The days getting better already
The biggest issue with this game is that the story is boring. The most fun part is the audio logs! I wanna play that game!
Grapple is too OP it made the campaign way too easy even on mythic difficulty.
Renns redemption arc in full swing. Get em Ren you baddie. FYI Ren is a nickname for Renn.
Havent played a halo since halo 4, that was such an obvious step down.... heck i own halo 5 and never installed it
I keep referencing the first few minutes of Maulers "Force Awakens Part 1" Video where it shows people blinded by hype praising the movie only to over time come to realize the flaws and end with a "Eh its okay" take and it's the same with Halo. Also, I cannot express how much I hate that scene at 2:23...Even if Infinite was a 10/10 for me that cutscene alone drops it down at least 2 points.
I remember playing the alpha flight on MP. It ran like absolute dogshit, I uninstalled it immediately. My PC was running into overheating issues it never had before. Their other game I tried, MCC, would make my GPU fan spin so erraticly i thought it was going to break (EVGA 3080). I promptly also uninstalled that. It turns out the game did take the lives of quite a few 3080s.
I didn't even bother to finish the game. After capturing FOVs and hunting bounties the game became uninspiring/boring really fast. Uninstalled and went back to MCC.
Ive been WAITING for this video essay like its 8am on Christmas Morning, you are the fucking man renn
I genuinely have no idea how it's possible that with all the improvements in all facets of games over the years, the AI in just gets worse and worse.
Remember F.E.A.R.? Remember Half Life? Remember Halo?!
For real. Hell even Turok 2 had better AI.
@@LiberatedMind1lol I forgot about turok. It did indeed have better AI than most games now
half life 2 actually had functional ai tho that didnt rush in and get theirselves killed

Another studio has to take over 343i and REMAKE Halo 4. Continue Bungie's legacy from there. Chief is still in the cryotube, he never left there. That's my headcannon as it should be anyone else's.
That’s what Literally happened during the Microsoft layoffs moron 🤦♂️
Ya duérmete un rato bungileber, neta le maman la verga a bungie, de seguro no sabes el estado de Destiny 2
God I love how renn uses the environment to his advantage. Like turning some business' waste management bin into a green screen. Innovative game design indeed. We will need to nerf that in the next patch.
343 Halo is the Disney Star Wars of gaming.
Glad you’re doing better, Renn!
Giving Chief an open world and a grapple gun was pathetic.
(I will add that the grapple gun as an online component only would have been cool)
I am so happy to see you doing a video on the corpse that once was Halo. It used to be my favorite little series in the whole wide world until Halo 4 and 5.
So happy you're back🎉
Incredible work!! This is a mega review
Well, there was goldeneye that did it first on console way back in 97. It was the first game to have multi-mission based objectives in an era where getting to the end of the level was the only goal. Halo may have mainstreamed the FPS genre on console but Goldeneye was the very first successful console-only shooter that paved the way for it.
And then there was Perfect Dark and three TimeSplitters games, and Unreal Championship
Awesome video man! Tbh I was waiting for a deep dive into this halo game. I knew you would tear it apart one day 😂
Jesus Christ, sometimes I feel like I'm going crazy. Because the very first minutes I immediately noticed that the combat wasn't this beautiful chaos anymore - it was more like a cover shooter. And some people were telling me that I'm spouting nonsense, that the combat is good, etc, etc.
But no, your video shows it clearly: combat is fucking garbage and that's that. You really are my favorite boy in the whole wide world. No joke - you're one of very few sensible reviewers out there.
Renn, you are among my favorite CZcamsrs. I wish youre channel would explode in popularity already. Great, funny video as always!
The only recent Halo game I care for is Halo Wars 2, and I give 343 zero credit for that.
I was so excited to hear about the open world. Imagining it allows player to travel across the whole ring seamlessly like botw, and was quite sad when the real map was a small bit of the ring
you are just nuts!
Honestly open world was primary reason why I never tried out Infinite. It simply runs counter to how Halo plays, and with 343 at the helm I knew they wouldn't be able to fill it with cool stuff. In most cases open world sounds cooler than what it actually is tbh.
I just wanted to let you know that when I saw you had a new video, I clicked on it hoping that it was long af and I am happy to see it is. ty.
Renn!! They didn't send me a notification but they at least put you in my recommendeds the day you uploaded! Progress!
hate to break it, but bungie would have also turned it into shit, destiny 2 is the living proof
Yes and no. It would've been bad, but it wouldn't have been *this* fucking bad. Destiny isn't dead, Halo is. That's the difference. And at least Bungie wouldn't have changed absolutely everything about Halo's iconography and formula like Bonobo Industries did
@@nagger8216 i didnt say destiny 2 is dead, its dogshit
