Major Sewer Line Repair Below a Busy Road With Pipe Relining & Robotic Cutting

Hey everyone! In this video, we're taking you behind the scenes of a major sewer line repair with Pipe Relining & Robotic Cutting that Revolution Pipe Relining recently completed in Concord.
The existing sewer pipe at this property was in really bad shape. We're talking about diameter reductions of up to 50% in some areas due to misaligned, broken, collapsing and dropped pipe. The water level in the line was even above the camera height, indicating some serious blockages.
Our team quickly realised that robotic cutting would be necessary to grind out a large step in the pipe and allow for proper relining. This step was causing a major transition that toilet paper and solids just couldn't pass through properly.
Given the pipe's location under a road with heavy garbage truck traffic, properly reinforcing and relining this section was critical to prevent further damage and blockages.
So, here's what we did:
- We excavated and exposed the boundary trap area to access the damaged pipe sections.
- Using a robotic cutter, we ground out the large step/offset where the horizontal section had dropped significantly from the vertical section.
- In areas where the pipe was missing or had large holes, we installed structural fiberglass patches as a preparatory repair before relining.
- We ground out the existing dropped 85-degree junction to create a smooth 90-degree bend transition.
- Finally, we relined the entire run using our durable fiberglass liner product called MagmaFlex.
- The completed reline provides a smooth, reinforced pipe run from the property's sewer line all the way to the main municipal line with no offsets, holes, or blocked sections remaining.
For temporary sewer service during the repair, we installed a PVC line until the plumbers could reinstate the permanent sewer connection.
This was a great example of Revolution Pipe Relining's capabilities in tackling even the most severely damaged sewer lines while minimising digging and property disruption. Relining extended the life of this critical pipe by decades.
