    What an awesome series. There is a severe lack of e28 content on youtube so one as fun/detailed as this is great to see. Really hoping to enjoy more e28 stuff in the future from you guys!

    Right on man, what a beautiful job with the overhaul. Im surprised (and happy for you!) to hear how much you like the coilovers.. I would say the key here is to make sure they're set up properly. I have a 535i which I recently did a full suspension oiverhaul on. When I bought the car, the handling was good, but the ride was absolutely terrible. The previous owner had 'stanced' the car out a little too much for my liking - but at the time,m I didnt realize that that 'upgrade' had completely ruined the suspension. When I went to a more stock setup (stock suspension mounts etc. w/ ireland engineering springs and bilstein tourings, w all new bushings ctrl arms and ireland engineering sway bar kit) the car was complelety transformed and I now have seen the light - what these cars are meant to drive like. Night and day difference - it soaks up the bumps remarkably well, it maintains about the same ride height, theres a tiny bit more body roll but overall it handles *better* than before, and just floats over everything. I LOVE IT. So be careful with coilovers and make sure they're sert up properly!! Sounds like you did :) Enjoy it in good health fellow e28 lover ;)

    Still,...still to this day,...my all-time favorite BMW! Long live the E28 535is! Not sure if you upgraded to ///M5 Swaybars,...but if and when you do,....prepare to be Look'n for Curves for No Reason at All!
    If you do add the ///M5 Swaybars,...ensure you Reinforce the Swaybar "Links" mounting point on the MacPherson Strut point,...as the increased resistance of the Larger Swaybar and bushings will cause the mounting point on the strut to basically break-away over time. Yeah,...go ahead and ask me how I know!

  • @frozenpete788
    @frozenpete788 Před 6 lety

    You get incredible mileage with you car, mine is so bad compared to it ! I get 14l/100km (around 17mpg I guess) The automatic eats so much energy, I have to 3.73 rear end too. The 2.7 M20 has torque yeah, but the cylinder head choks the engine higher in the rev range. It's like a diesel behaved gas engine. I'll go with the m20b20 cylinder head to retain compression ratio, give it a b25 throttle body and intake manifold, and ditch the motronic 1.0 for the 1.3 off an e30, to wake up this good engine a bit. Anyway I was happy to watch this series PT ! Consider keeping off the winter a bit but you're right to enjoy your ride, it looks and certainly drives sweet I'm sure !

  • @DaytonCarCare
    @DaytonCarCare Před 5 lety

    Swap in a different ratio diff or LSD and a Jim Conforti performance chip would help. I did that with a 86 E30 325e. Except I used a LSD from a 635CSi (a 3.64 or 3.46 ratio I forget) and it was a bit high on RPMs at 80 mph so I think a 3.15 diff would be better.

  • @Lexor888
    @Lexor888 Před 3 lety

    E24 and E28 are my favourite ones. TBH I wasn't surprised when he mentionend eating through rotors too quickly after seeing his driving... he drives this thing like an automatic, every possible moment when he doesn't need acceleration he goes into neutral and absolutely doesn't use the engine to help breaking.

    • @killsalot78
      @killsalot78 Před 6 lety +4

      Its probably a combination of worn out bushings and the change in geometry from lowering the car. All in all the real blame is that trailing arm suspension is absolutely garbage in every way and personally I'd considerate to be on the same level as a live axle.
