Camden New Jersey Hoods - Ghetto Ghost Town on Steroids

- Today we visit Camden, NJ.... home to some of the most disenfranchised slums in the country. Camden has needed help since the 1960's when its population started to noticeably decline. With big brother and next door neighbor Philadelphia falling apart before our eyes, it doesn't seem likely that Camden will rebound or even normalize in the near future. Follow me as i drive through various hoods and blocks of Camden and let us know what you think the future of this troubled city holds!
Wow i remember a time back when you would see 20 + men standing in the corners on just about every other block. My hometown 80s 90s.
Last time i was there it wAs horrific. But now? It looks better then many cities that I've been to. And the streets are relatively clean and it doesn't look depressing. I appreciate what hard work they have done to make it look better. Camden i applauded your efforts 👌
Thank you for sharing the video of this big tour in Camden, I found it very interesting.
I'im living in Europe and I don't have even a travel experience in the US. But I read about the citiy of Camden, his history and I saw some documentaries. What I read is that in the last 10 years there has been a lot of positive changings. The police crew has been changed (no more or less corruption and a better relationship to the residents), money has been invested in cultural life, Camden has a good university and today less drug problems as its neighbour city Philly (Kensington), ok far from zero, but decreasing. My impression is that Camden is on a rising way, I hope for the residents that it's true.
Camden is making strides to renew itself. The police department was reassigned,. They're putting money into developments and I believe the 1st hotel in 50 years is being built there. I was strongly considering moving there or another South Jersey city from Philly before I had to move back to the West Coast due to Covid. Rutgers is an excellent university, and I would've attended school there. I still might get a graduate degree there in the future. I hope that in time it will return to some of its former glory. Governmental mismanagement and lack of viable jobs have hurt it majorly. I am working on finishing my first degree now.
You're incorrect in your assesment of this community. Camden has made substantial improvements over the past 10-15 years... While yes the city is still in a disenfranchised state today, it was a literal free for all at one time. What you see today is the best this city has been in more than 50 years and should be recognized. CMD is on the rise. Peace out.
Very good news and thank you for the update. Good to hear that as I hope that Camden can bounce back and become better than ever.
Absolutely
15-20 years ago its looked like Croatia looks now
Camden doesn’t look that bad, compared to some of the videos I’ve seen.👍🏼👍🏼 great video!!
15 yrs ago I met ppl from here & that’s when my addiction spiraled.. one of those ppl is in prison for murder now & was on the run for 10 yrs.
Thank you for sharing and thank you for watching! Addiction and crime usually go hand in hand.
Some of the flats/apartments..look very similar to what we have here in the UK..tge designs are very similar.
Great road trip exploration around Camden New Jersey. Thanks for sharing what the place looks like in actuality. With you...I traveled far. Have a nice day!
Thank you very much for watching and taking your time to leave that great comment. You as well! Please subscribe so we can travel again. Take care!
You should drive through these neighborhoods in July and August during a heatwave!
Not to worry. We will. Holding out on many areas due to that. Thank you for watching.
Looks like a nice day, good weather.
These videos would be so much better if they had an accompanying map indicating where you are, in order to see which parts are okay to stop, and where to keep moving at all costs.
State Street looks a nice area.
Back in the 70s all those open lots were row homes and businesses.
I was from 24th and high st in creamer hill .
You neglected Erie street im mad 😭😭
Them new projects look nice that area nice af
Yeah dem projects silent but deadly the old buildings was just str8 havoc
There are some well thought-out public housing and some that wasn't. Vacant lots, areas should be groomed and have trees planted.
I will always agree with having more trees planted
Lots of empty buildings just rotting away. What a waste.
Totally agree. City has a good location. Can definitely be something again… if America starts to produce again. Thank you for watching
The buildings are just ghosts of another time.
kinda reminds of west Dayton now and over the Rhine in Cincinnati late 90's early 2000's.
I remember that Over The Rhine area of Cincinnati . My friend & I took a road trip to Cincinnati in 2012 to look around .
This would be a great place to film a post apocalypse movie. The town already has that look. Just a little CGI needed and
There is always a solution to a problem.
ya, its called pride in oneself and community
@@pgroove163 Richest man in Babylon 🤔. A city cannot prosper until a vast majority of the people have a Clear understanding how money works and in under a decade this city can be booming if the current residents right now learn useful skills and do business with in the community. Work with each other and build the community.
About a year ago I was coming home from my sister's house in New York City to Lynchburg TN and I got off the wrong exit of 95 and ended up in Camden NJ I met a pretty girl standing on the corner of Morgan Blvd and Broadway and she said she needed a ride and wanted to know if I wanted to go out on a date with her then she told me She was almost finished building her house but she needed to buy some ready rocks to finish building it and she needed $100.00 To buy some ready rocks so she could finish building her house so I gave her $100 for ready rocks and told her I would take her over to Home Depot but she asked me to stop at this house where some gentlemen were standing on a porch and that they would sell her to ready rocks and have them delivered to her house It was a very interesting date and I had a very good time Camden is a beautiful city.
😂
It reminds me of Fifth Avenue in NYC or of the Belgravia area in London.
Ha ha good one
DEUS abençoe a América, isso vem acontecendo em praticamente todos os governos, lamentável, não era pra ser desse jeito, muito obrigado meu nobre brother pelo o seu excelente vídeo.
Very true. Thanks for appreciating video and Thank you for watching.
Looks clean
Even in the new projects bodies drop #relentless
Another drive-by Camden camera shooter by some one outside Camden NJ

Chem trails just fill the NJ skies
They haveto control the people, keep them down , destroying themselves and each other.

Where’s Cramer Hill?
This is the disadvantages of capitalism take the business overseas pay workers less and make more money , it's like here in RSA paying a foreigner less to make more money 😢😢😢😢

Detroit in the early 2000s was more creepy than this.
Camden in the early 2000's was more creepy as well. I was in Detroit in 2004 it was horrid.
Detroit is just abandoned suburban like houses...
Wow just look at the greatest country in the history of the world, I’m so jealous I don’t live there lol
I think Jersey said you can have it and gave it to Philly
Jersey baby all day
A guy tried to get me to move there found out he was on cocaine, crack and heroine in and out rehabilitation for cigarettes true story
Whoever made this video needs to be ashamed of themselves! They only showed some sections of Camden that were apartments and run down houses. They didn’t even ride pass the beautiful well kept houses streets and properties that are always looking good. And most of the streets they rode down were clean although the properties were old and some boarded up. Boo boo boo!!!
Que lugar tenebroso, cadê o povo dessa cidade estão mortos?
"PROGRESSIVE DEMOCRAT CENTER" yes it is.
Thanks for noticing that. Thank you for watching.
Of course if I was a homeless drug addict probably live in one of the southern states.
I'm not trying to be flippant when I say this. Why would you pay somebody in Philly or NJ twenty bucks an hour when somebody in Peru or Mexico will do it for two bucks or less?
Manufacturing in the US and UK is done. The tech companies and service industries can't make enough money in the rust belt.
And those people are starving to death n slaves ..

Bet there are some real good people hiding inside there.
Hello friends from USA. While US cities are decaying and neglected by the federal government, Russians are rebuilding war-torn Mariupol.
Stop it. You have no friends.

Camden seems like a very nice place to stay the hell away from! 🏙
