  • Today we travel to Brooklyn's most notorious and well known ghetto, the Legendary and Infamous East New York. This section has traditionally been Brooklyn's most violence plagued district. We stroll through the heart of the hood, passing violent hot spots. Please remember that in NYC, the streets and buildings are more maintained than in other U.S. cities, but these East New York streets are filled with public housing and are very densely populated... which is a recipe for crime and violence. Don't let the appearance fool you. Things aren't always as they seem.

I grew up on these exact streets. There was nothing serious enough to call this the most violent hood. If anything, it taught me to stand up for myself and never take crap from anyone, and to be a man and not a coward.

Nice. So where are Brooklyn’s most violent streets if not East New York? It’s historically and statistically the most violent area in the borough. No disrespect to you or the area. The vibes are great and that section is vibrant. It is what it is. Thanks for watching

Wow. I am PERSONALLY offended by someone who obviously didn't grow up in East New York calling it "dangerous" and "ghetto". Look at all the "dangerous ghetto" people of color "dangerously ghetto-walking" down the "dangerously-ghetto" streets living their "dangerously-ghetto" lives, minding their "dangerously-ghetto" business... I grew up in ENY from 1959-1980 on Georgia Ave. between Sutter and Blake Avenues, and Van Siclen Avenue between Glenmore and Pitkin Avenues. Not many robberies, murders or assaults that I could recall. Of course, things and people changed with the Crack epidemic, but last time I drove through ENY in 2011, I felt safe. My old HOUSE on Van Siclen Avenue is still standing, occupied and worth 700,000 dollars or so at over 100+ years old. Brick, of course. ENY has its problems, like most of NYC does, but calling it dangerous is misleading at best, and misinformed at worst. I'll never understand the purpose of negative videos of our big cities by non-natives or recent arrivals or "tourists". To truly learn and understand a place, live there at least 10 to 20 years; working, raising children and participating in what that place has to offer. Just my opinions, feel free to disagree agreeably, no profanity or slurs or hate speech necessary. Peace...✌️💪🙏
