No diaspora armenian can see the holy mount ararat and not cry, it was armenian for centuries and milenias until the turks arrived from central asia. Ararat is holy to armenian people.

Conan makes me laugh as usual, but it was actually kind of hard to see Sona tearing up a little looking out at Mount Ararat. I know it means a lot to Armenians to see. And like everyone who watches this show I just love Sona and how funny she is.
I really want to go to Armenia now, it's truly beautiful. I don't like hot places, but I think I'd really love to see it and be with the beautiful people.

Best time to go there I’d say is autumn or spring to be honest, because of the climate
Armenia has a lot of mountains that get very cold. I have family up in the mountains there and visited in the summer once and it was pretty chilly.

I've thoroughly enjoyed Conan's trip taking Sona there to visit the home of her ancestors from just a short time ago. I think it was a class act by Conan to go and do it even if it was for TV and laughs, Conan didn't make jokes at the Armenian Genocide Memorial. Even here he's showing respect for the ladies and their dancing while still getting laughs. He doesn't make fun of them like he made fun of the police escort, which was hilarious. How many comedians could pull that off? Conan should have kept the Tonight because despite being robbed of the honor Conan is every bit as good as Johnny Carson and INDEED has replaced him in millions of viewers hearts, it's just on another channel.
Can somebody PLEASE acknowledge how Sona is crying while looking at Mount Ararat! That is such a beautiful moment and it is so meaningful and important to Sona given her heritage... and yet nobody is talking about her reaction and how amazing that moment was.

These dancers are amazing. Very beautiful, funny, intelligent and most of all good sports for going along with conan's shenanigans. It takes great humility to be able to make fun of yourself the way conan does and these girls went along with it wholeheartedly.

Armenia on the map today is East of Turkey, North of Iran, West of Azerbaijan, and South of the Republic of Georgia. Armenia historically was larger than it is now, but in 1915 "the Young Turks" began a campaign of systematically killing them off or chasing them out of their ancestral lands in the dying years of the Ottoman Empire. Just to name a few places in Turkey which were historically Armenian, you have Diyarbakir, Van, and Ani (which was their ancient capital.) All these places have either old churches or archeological structures which prove this claim to the land. Armenia as we know it now was nearly conquered by the pursuing Turks who wished to wipe them out, but they made their stand and repelled them in the Battle of Sardarapat. And thank God for that because Armenian people, culture, and language are all unique to this world.
