Nick’s Garage made one as close as you can to the original, right down to bolts and nuts. A year long build and great episodes. I had the pleasure to meet and sit in the Challenger. What a car and a awesome guy as well.
nicks show is great,I hope he never makes a tv show out of it
@@yeayeasautoadventures1161 Nick is not tv material. No entertainment worthy
@@STAY-GOLD-VINYL thats what makes it worth watching, hopefully a network never tempts him $$$$$$$$$
Yup. Nick is pretty great! I love his Challenger. It's one of a kind.
@@STAY-GOLD-VINYL I totally disagree Nick is no schtick BS much easier for me to watch
The car that slammed into the bulldozers at the end of Vanishing Point was actually a 1968 Camaro. I've watch the movie 50-60 times. If you slow it down, you can see the 68 Camaro.
Indeed was
It was actually a 1967.
Yes it was a Camaroon. I have never forgotten that smashing end.
Which explains why the thumbnail for this video is a Camaro not a Challenger.
Still sucks seeing a 60s Camaro get smashed up though! Lol
It was awesome to hear that they are going to build a Dirty Mary Crazy Larry tribute Charger R/T. Love to see a Phantasm Cuda tribute car..
I saw the Sunday double feature of Vanishing Point and Dirty Mary Crazy Larry in 1976. I've been a car nut since.
I seriously can't imagine all I would have to sell, pawn, and borrow to be able to afford one of Marks cars! But man, I would LOVE to get my hands on one of them. Any of them! They do AWESOME REBUILDS, probably best on the planet!!
Nicks Garage has The best example of the Kowalski tribute car .
My childhood drive-in movie memory was 'Used Cars.' I remember being told to "cover your eyes" Great times
Great movie! Worth watching many times!
My dad got to drive 1 of the challengers used in the remake of Vanishing point . He also knows Ted Stephens of Stephens performace which is a mopar grave yard in Anderson, AL
I remember see one vanishing point movie that when they crashed the car at the end smashing it into the bulldozers the hood that flew up was definitely a camaro hood. Does anyone else remember seeing that or was I just to stoned when I saw that???
The door flying threw the air has a vent window
Challengers don't
They used a Camaro the slopar wouldn't go fast enough to do any real damage
@@darrellsomers5427 oh really I figure they just wanted to save the challengers for the best shots seeing how ugly and cliche the slomaro are they're using them up at a alarming rate to keep the junkyards open!!!!
1967 camaro had vent windows. 1968 didn't. This is what they used to hit the bull dozer. Not the challenger. My brother liked the movie so much he had to have a 1971 orange with white strip rt .white interior, white vinyl top 383 magnum Hurst pistol grip 4 speed. Beautiful car . Very fast too. Loved gas ⛽.
The crashed Camero at the end, didn’t have an engine or tranny, and was loaded with explosives. It was pulled by a cable into the dozers.
One of my favourite cars especially from the original movie, very much like smokey and the bandit.
Vanishing Point and Bullitt 2 great car films
Man I scrapped all the green Mopars I had in the early 80's anything green was an automatic parts car! granted I was pulling V code 70 Mopars out from under trees in the Northwest and had so many to trade and restore I was buried in cars I just wish I put them all in a pole barn in Arizona for 20 years! Locals refereed to my Yard in SeaTac as "Mopar Washington" I admit I had no idea where the value was going. I sold my last 70 GTX 440-6 4sp console, Dana 60 car for $2500 in 1984 fully restored and pristine the guy who bought it said it was the nicest detailed Mopar he had ever seen and told me not to sell it and that I would regret it if I did and man was he right !
I love love love your daughters explanation a 1000 times better. Great explanation and no bs.
This guy really cracks me up (but I think it is because I was born in the early 1950s), I can also sympathize with his Daughter having to put up with him LOL.
MARK IS JUST PUTTING TOGETHER THE MOVIE CARS HE LIKES , THE ACTUAL WRECKED VANISHING POINT MOVIE CAR IS IN A MUSEUM , AND YES MR. NICK PANORAMAS HAS A 1970 RT WITH A 440 MAGNUM HE CALLS THE KOWALSKI !!!!
If I remember correctly, that museum is in Tennessee..and it's sitting next a "clean" one from the 90's movie as well.
@@chrispaulson2934No 70 Challengers from 1971 Movie survived. Sorry to say. But every Challenger from the remake are still with us. The one in Tennessee is from the remake. The cars from the original were crushed by Chrysler.
Mark , go on Nick's Garage( youtube channel) He also built a Vanishing Point tribute car. He did what you guys are doing The car is beautiful. Good luck with your build.
I was delivered from the hospital as a baby in a 1970 dodge challenger SE. I was supposed to inherit the car. Unfortunately, my father got sick and had to sell it. There’s still one of my favorite colors of all time and I hope that one day I’ll be blessed Owen one. Unfortunately, after my father’s passing, I wasn’t even able to find out where the car was at.
There's people out there that can track it down. I've been contemplating finding a car I had stolen (from me).
@@xmo552 I have the build plate numbers in. A picture
When watching Bullit, my favorite part is during the SF chase (not the green VW 😂) when the Charger's stunt driver (Bill Hickman) was blasting downhill and hangs a mean off-camber left at the intersection and he sticks that turn in that car.
Skills! 😉👌
look up on youtube, "seven ups car chase". same stunt driver, same soundtrack, and you can watch the entire movie for free on here as well.

Thank you Mr. Gaspar.
That Charger is my dreamer ever!! The Challenger looks like a pony car
Hey Alyssa you doing amazing job on your Autopsy Report. I’m a car buff and a car builder from Classic, Hot Rods to Lowrider’s for over 50+yrs. I enjoy watching graveyard carz. Keep doing what you love best making your dad proud. Happy Holidays.
😎🎉😇🙏🏽👍
This show is awesome thanks Mark and Melissa I always learn good quality ways to build a car and I really appreciate your time to put this together like you all thair do and the old comercels and how rear the ones are I really like the little dead wagon I always wanted to build one myself I built 2 of the models wen I was 11 or 12 years old and have one still to build thanks again for a really great show it's good to laugh and know that is good clean fun
Who is Melissa??
It’s Alissa
@717weston2 He is either a newbie or hearing repaired... and BTW, spell check is still FREE
I would love to own one of these old school mopar car from GYC i love watching the show Mark my name is Daniel Heath keep doing what you do my friend
There was also another white dodge challenger used in an other movie "death proof" I still remember seeing Zoe Bell riding on the hood at around 60 or 70 miles an hour, it was crazy and cool to watch
I'm myself a complete fan of Marks humor the "faces" n all!!😂😂😂
He maybe a bad dancer but he's a fantastic dad. That's the only i see a great dad. 👍💯❤️🙂🕊️
Still the favorite car from the childhood of me and my younger brother.
Awesome Job!!!!!
This made me cry. My 1st new car was a Plymouth Roadrunner 383 4 speed. How I miss those days. Dad reminds me a salesman named Dick Balch. He would show you a new car w/$ pag, then take sled hammer to the hood to reduce the price. The guy was just a little crazier than dad. Helairus, loved it. Split the difference, better yet switch back and forth. Be yourself is best. People can relate to real, and do.
Serious true story?
Alyssa , you have an amazing gift building that 440 and to tolerate your dad though he means well !👽
I love the dancing !
Thank god for human character, which in this guarded snipey era, is refreshingly welcome !
Keep dancing bud :)
Much love from England to you all :)
I almost bought a hemi cuda in 1978 for $3500. Bought a Grand Prix instead. I wanted a/c.
Reading off those tag numbers makes me want to yell out BINGO!!!!!
Marks amazing! His knowledge is incredible, I'd love a job there.🇬🇧👍
Dave is a expert not Markey
I had a 1973 Challenger with a 340 4-barrel 4 speed pistol grip shifter (wish I had it today). It was used in 1977, but I only paid $2500.00. I also remember back in the 60's and 70's there were so many different models to choose from unlike today. You could mix interiors with different paint schemes unlike today. I guess the manufactures made money or they wouldn't have offered so many choices ... With so few choices we have today, and with such high prices, makes you wonder how much profit the manufacturers are making today .. or should I say ripping us off for ..
with inflation, it nearly works out the same (if the older cars had airbags, ABS, etc), but the profit for the automaker is in the financing. which is why the subprime mortgage crisis nearly bankrupted the big three, b/c their finance wing had extended into housing.
right now, with the chip crisis and parts shortages, they're making a killing. once that settles, they may go back to "$3,000 cash back on your purchase!". Its cyclical.
Cute as all hell and she builds 440’s ….
Gotta love that !!!
It'd be nice to see him do one from the movie Death Proof
How does one even begin to get started in a venture like this? I'd love to just take cars apart, get them dipped and replace needed steel, prep, paint and build old cars for a living. Talk about a dream job. I wouldn't be a brand snob about it either. That just limits possibilities to me. If it's classic American muscle and a cool car that you have the means to bring back, I say go for it. Don't limit possibilities to one brand. I have preferences too, but that doesn't mean other manufacturers didn't make cars worth restoring because of it. Hell, bring some of the Euro/American stuff here. I have a movie car to do - Mad Max's Ford Falcon! THAT would be cool!
to my it looks like a mustang2 frunt to put on a mopar! love it good one
Dustless Blasting has some nice stuff...
I'm in love with Alyssa Mark 🤩😏 and obviously your dance moves jsjjsjs plus of course the work you do you are a genius .....!!! A hug from Argentina I am a big fan of the program..🤟💪💪
Best Autopsy Report yet.
I must go back and watch them all. Incredible amount of knowledge you guys have.
"
Peop;e are watching because they are worried about you" Classic!
Mark, I'd like to start off by saying that I am incredibly impressed with your Mopar knowledge but with that being said, your antics are a bit much and for me it puts me off some. You do great work there and like I said, I'm very impressed with your knowledge. I love the end products that you guys put out and if I had a Mopar in need of being rebuilt or restored then I'd send it your way in an instant.
Obviously, everyone else likes his antics ... there are other shows you can watch. One the longest 🏃♀️ running shows ever, that should tell you something
@@speedfreak8200 I hear that ok. You're right. I do like the show just the same and I really love the attention to detail that Mark and his guys put into every one of their builds.
The 4 door 1966 Chevy from Dirty Mary Crazy Larry did it for me. I'm putting together a 1970 R/T 440 Challenger in Purple
These guys don't play around they build them right there no joke
I just found out they Actually used a 1968 Camaro to Crash into those Bulldozers at 185 mph from the -50 Years Later-Special ; which led me to this show saving Barry Newmans original Vanishing Point Challenger RT. And Barry Newman lived to age 92.
I only watch the show on my DVR. When Mark starts acting crazy, I fast forward through it. Love Allysa's reports.
I'm dying 😂 the autopsy report auditions
Well just be happy ! Cause look who's signing your check !!!
Dodge came out with a Kowalski limited edition challenger. thinking it was low numbered like 12 or 15. I found one but they wanted way to much for it.
When
the one i found was in Cleveland , I think. they wanted like $75k for it. So i waited and got a 2015 hellcat instead.
I think a lot of us viewers would love the Dirty Mary Crazy Larry 440 1969 Charger : Color - "Limelight" (GY3) ? I hear it is a 1971-only Chrysler Corporation color , More info found on the color - The color of the Charger is a 1971-only Chrysler Corporation color "Curious Yellow" / "Limelight" (GY3), which is a light greenish-yellow color. This color was painted on the car by the film crew (as the color was not available in 1969), along with the horizontal racing stripe , I also found that the Charger had R/T emblems but was not a 440 car .
Funny Mark is wearing a munsters shirt on, he looks like he could be a Eddy Munster. He is awesome
17:40 Notice the PRE-PRODUCTION version of the Rallye Tachometer. Originally, was intended to have the Zero position in the same spot as on the speedometer. This would change before production would start. The standard steering wheel also has a partial horn ring; something that would be dropped by mid-year. Also, in other versions of this film, you can also see the Slap-Stik shifter has a CHROME knob and button that looks suspiciously like the 1968 automatic console shifter knob & button. Apparently, the woodgrain knob and black button were late additions. Also, in some early Challenger promotional ephemera, you can see that the Rallye wheels have NO Center caps - possibly due to the caps not being available at the time the photographs were taken.
A. Rose, still absolutely stunning and will always be. Flawless with no comparison.
Vanishing point and Bullet 😮 in one night that is equal to seeing ZZ Top and Uncle Ted at the Cow Palace when I was a young lad🤔 it was a great concert, I think 😉
I was born in 1970. The same month I came home from the hospital, my father came home from the dealership with this car. They never admitted it, but I think my parents made a trade. Anyway, Dad's was white just like this one so the visual in the thumbnail really got my attention.
Dad's had the black vynil roof and an "SE" badge on it. I do not know what SE means, nor what engine it had, but this was the first car I remember in life. Later in life, I had two 2011 Challengers for myself (the second one was an upgrade to the 392) because these cars hold a VERY special place in my heart. I would, however, never buy a model beyond 2014 because the RIGHT Challenger has the 1970 grill and taillights, and they switched to the 1971 versions of these in 2015.
OHHH...I know these cars. Andf I was about to drop in a factoid about the Camaro in the movie, but I can see here that someone already said that so...time to just watch the video.
That was QUITE a double feature to see! I can’t believe they are doing a re-make of Bullitt that is pure blasphemy you cannot re-make perfection….except in cars.
I bought a 1970 White Challenger Color Code PW7 from a guy in Miami... Jack Sharkey. He was pretty well know mopar guy at that time
We all watch the show for the history and the tech, not the silliness.
4:50 LOL "Its not tension specs, its called feet pounds of torque" hahahahs
So you blasked it wet ? Doesn't that force water into all the gaps , how did you ensure you got all the water out of the joints?
Castor, camber and toe-in. What about steering axis inclination? Was there ever an adjustment for that? Whatever Mark, you and your ghouls are are seriously brilliant!
Steering axis inclination in a short long arm front suspension is the same axis (as castor) viewed from the end view as opposed to the castor angle which is viewed from the side.
@@josephrogers9701 Excellent reply if someone asked for the definition of caster. Castor though is not an alignment feature.
Caster. Upper control arm eccentric washer pressed onto the bolt which engages two raised slots on the mount.
@@tihspidtherekciltilc5469 Really? I was a front end man ( alignment tech ) for 40 years and set castor on LOTS of cars…
Poor Alyssa 😂. How did such a beautiful woman come from Mark 😂 just kidding. If anyone has a great build on a Mopar it's this shop. Awesome work and the sharing of knowledge is appreciated. Keep up the great work
my sister dated Barry back in the day--she never knew he was a star until somebody walked up and made a fuss--she was a waitress and met him at the restaurant--she said he was a nice guy and liked hik
She did real good with the autopsy report.
OK, but how does the front steering setup address Ackermann angle? Also what I think you were trying to get a crossed is that "facts tell, stories sell!"
I always finesse the camshaft in first, before the crank while there's access.
It's "foot pounds" (ft/lbs) NOT "feet" pounds.
Like someone else noted. Are you going to do a 68 Camaro to complete the set. Be interesting to see y’all duplicate the folded up Camaro.
Seriously, I'm having a good laugh! Keep the magic going Mark Worman. Engage your audience :)
I'm surprised worm man didn't say he had one of the screen used challengers driven by Barry Newman himself
For as much specialized equipment they have in that shop for restoration I cannot believe they did not spring for piston ring installation tools that are completely circular 1 piece. I have the piston installation tool they used and it is a lot more of a pain to use then the installer tools that are for 1 size, Sure they might need a selection of them but they only do dodge V8 engines pretty much the 60-70 so they can spring for the good shit. I mean if you break a ring on install and have to wait to get a replacement that puts you behind schedule right? it simplify s and speeds up the assembly and removes mishaps. a professional shop should have them.
no kidding, and the idea DP90 seals against water? any rat rodder who's tried it knows it dulls and clouds up, looking like a dry blackboard in a classroom in no time--but esp in an oregon climate. its not UV resistant at all.
must be their first time at this, ha ha
@@albertgaspar627 DP90 is an epoxy primer it is used for adhesion mainly but you have to surface prep and clean the bare metal prior to spraying it .. its is 1 part of a system you cannot ignore all the preparation steps the step before putting this on protects the bare metal if open to the environment all by itself. i have doors and trunk lid prepped using this stuff 30 years ago still in immaculate shape out doors in the snow and rain since applied. you got to follow the procedures religiously.
When he hit that dozer with the car, I jumped out of my seat and screamed "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!". I was soooo sad, I wept for the rest of the day.
I prefer a 68 Charger!! Thats a real icon!
"It had a 440. I saw the decal"
I'm a huge fan of all the pony cars from that era. The Mustang, Javelin, and Camaro/Firebirds were just the coolest cars you could have back in the day, for a reasonable budget.
Then we got the Challenger/Barracuda. The most gorgeous car with a back seat ever made. Especially the convertible.
Sadly, the majority of those cars didn't last long, and got melted down to make newer cars.
Give me a resto-mod with a 392 and the 6-speed manual.
When Alyssa said the torques for the rods and the mains in the heads I looked at my wife and I said I need to treat you in yes on a Dodge baby
Sarafian says on the dvd commentary that there were eight Challengers and they ended filming with only one left.
The cars started off as Green. They were painted before use. You can see the green paint in quite a few scenes where the car has damage.
Daughter's sure a car chick indeed cute too very shapely upfront ❤️
It’s hard to improve on Chrysler Torsion bar suspension….it’s such a good design all of the big 3 have copied it on their pickups at one point or another with a few minor modifications…GM still uses it today on 3/4 and 1 tons.
Mark needs to do a 1974 Dodge Monaco Bluesmobile. He will find it to be the rarest car ever to locate.
It wasn't a Hemi in the original Vanishing Point. It was supposed to be a Supercharged 440.
Actually the first thing to do with assembling an engine is stand it on end and install the camshaft first. This keeps you from damaging the camshaft lobes. Then put it up on the engine stand and put the crankshaft in. I was taught that in engine shop in college in 1976/7. I have seen camshafts damaged from being installed horizontally.
i was about to say the same. meanwhile, it seems like there is no material between the intake manifold and the lifter valley cover, as they came stock from Ma Mopar.
How about the 68 charger from christine.
Dodged were expensive as hell back in the 60s too
*The UK version of the movie Vanishing Point has missing parts of the movie!*
I like the show for his acting 😂 he is a brilliant guy
Oreeegone folks? Supa!
"People are watching it, because they're worried about you."
Sorry your pops is a Looney Tune. 😂
When is this starting
An honest 85% of any Will interview that guy is complaining about something. I have a great aunt just like him.
I have a 318 in a 1970 Winnebago. it still smokes the duel wheels on dry pave. the same Winnebago as the walking dead....
I've lived it I have one since 1981
I'm confused by this? The vanishing point challenger was a hemi 4 speed car or so it was said, like when he needed an oil pan the dude drove a 100 miles to find a 426 hemi pan ? Now there building an exact tribute car that's a 440 4 speed car? Something doesn't add up. Also one of my all time favorite movies along with 2 lane blacktop
Slow motion the end of the movie its a camaro. you can tell by the cut outs for the tail lights and the single leaf spring.
IDK about all editions, but if you stop the movie just before impact you can see a white 69 Camaro in place of the Dodge. It is very brief...like 1 second image. Then the Dodge re-appears untill the crash.
Even the thumbnail for this video is a wrecked 69 camaro.
‘67 Camaro
It was a 67 not a 69
Ever thought about a wheels of terror clone/tribute?
Google says Steven Spielberg didn’t direct that movie
Which Challenger had they in Dead Proof?
She said feet lbs of torque it’s actually foot lbs not feet
