Lost opportunities, sickness, bereavement, divorce and separation, defeat in an election, collapse of ministry, can make one imagine that God has taken off or that one is suffering because of one’s sins/mistakes in life.
Written by Reuben Kigame in 2019, this is a song for everyone, young and old, Christian or otherwise. To quote Reuben: “This is my personal song, but I know it applies to just about everyone. It is for those people who want to be real and face both God and the life He gives face-to-face. It is a song for those who do not want pretence. They come to God as they are and tell Him, ‘here I am at the end of the road and all I need is hope to go on.’ … I have been there and came out several times. I want to assure you that giving up is not a good option. Wipe off the dust, drink some water, breathe in and try again! Like Job of old, after you have been tried, you will come forth as gold.”
Taken from the book of Job chapter 14 verses 7 to 9, this is a song for new beginnings. This is what the Bible says: “At least there is hope for a tree: If it is cut down, it will sprout again, and its new shoots will not fail. Its roots may grow old in the ground and its stump die in the soil, yet at the scent of water it will bud and put forth shoots like a plant." - Hudba

Requires a very special talent to convert any tribal melody into gospel song. We are used to Maasai or Kikuyu or Hehe tribal melodies, but Christians singers very rarely dare to use Arabic or Indian melodies. Kudos to the team who sang this piece.

Artistically, the coastal tune with the blend of Taarab tune is simply magical and executed impeccably.
It's also a good feel song. It's tune & beat appeals to the soul as much as it's lyrics appeals to the spirit. I find it quite uplifting. Having lived at the coast for some years before moving back to Nairobi, it really does fill me with nostalgia and I think it bridges the gap with the coastal audience by it's style.
