It is really funny , that Metal lovers can appreciate classical music more then vice versa .

Especially in European Metal, the musicians for a quite close community with all kinds of ad-hoc projects combining artists from different bands and you always see how much they enjoy working together.

I have huge respect for the Epica fans at this gig. They gave Floor a warm welcome (twice) and gave this song the reverence and respect it deserves. I listened to 'Sancta Terra' originally, purely because I am a NW fan and it had Floor on it. I left as an Epica fan and now have all of their albums.
I agree with everything you said about Simone and Floor. Also, our genre may not be the biggest in the world but it has attracted a massive amount of world class vocal and instrumental talent.

Thank you for your reaction I am fully agree with you there are fantastic female vocalists in metal. In my opinion the most of them come from Dutch 😇 Floor, Simone , Sharon del Adel von Within Temptation and also Annecke van Giersbergen and of course 🤘🤘Traja Turunen from Finnland 🇫🇮

The words of this hymn were originally written in the 13th Century. From what I can find online, the musical accompaniment was composed sometime in the 1700s.
The music was written by Giovanni Battista Pergolesi in 1736. He completed it at age 26, on his deathbed, just days prior to passing away from tuberculosis ("consumption" as it was known then.)
Such amazingness on that stage.

@@OldSkuleNerd it gets frustrating. Tarja v Annette v Floor or Vicky v Alissa. It's like, 'Stop arguing. You literally have ALL of them making current music.' That bickering mindset only detracts from you own enjoyment of the music, the message in the music and all the effort all the other band members added to the overall production.

Not a big surprise that Floor is a good friend of the band. Mark Jansen gave 16 year old Floor her start in After Forever. And he's right it's not a contest. All these ladies have their own styles and strengths and I for one am very glad for that (though my favorite is Charlotte Wessels just saying). Great reaction!

The very best thing is that they sang this hymne in front of a metal adoring audience. Guess what... I heard a needle fall on the ground. Amazing! An anonymus???? Franciscan monk wrote this hymne in the 13th. century. The music was written by a young Italian composer (Pergolesi) who died at the age of 26, three weeks after finishing this opus. The Dutch metal scene has produced some remarkable female vocalists; Anneke van Giersbergen (the (grand)mother of them all, having worked with Devin Townsend), Floor Jansen, Simone Simons, Sharon den Adel, Irene Jansen (sister of ....), Lisette van de Berg, and I'll throw in also Marcella Bovio who is actually Mexican but lived over half of her live and most of her career in the Netherlands and is severely underrated.
(My apologies to all those I forgot to mention)

There is a really big fan in this crowd. In the beginning you see ta dude with short hair and glasses, I think we see the same dude in the Wacken 2013 videos.
Beautiful. I'm a metal/rock, or whatever you want to call it fan at heart but I do enjoy classical too. For me they are closely related, I don't know if we'd have the music we have if we didn't have classical first. Tuomas must have been a classical composer in a past life 😁 Baroque is my favourite, I love the harpsichord and oboe. My youngest used to go to sleep listening to Bach's oboe concertos, now she's 11 and sings along to Nightwish 😆😁

Great reaction. I really like your words on comparing singers and bands. Btw, Epica's 20th anniversary show is coming up. As a live stream for those who can't make it to the Netherlands.
I think Floor is more versatile and maybe more technically proficient, but I prefer Simone's timbre and tone and her talent for gorgeous little improvisations in her lines. She has my favourite female voice, and I'm a music geek listening to hundreds of bands for decades now. Still, love them both and they and a handful of other women are dragging metal into the 21st century. Adrienne Cowan from Seven Spires has the same touch of destiny, Tatiana from Jinjer too. We are lucky to hear them all.
Yeah technique is not all, you also have to like the voice. For example i also really love Sharon Den Adel and she is just self trained, but her voice is just so great.
Or when i compare Morissette Amon vs. Sohyang for me Mori always wins because the tone of her voice is just nearly "perfect" to me while Sohyang sometimes maybe trys to show up to hard what she can.
Yes to everything you said. I don't think any of these singers would appreciate their so-called fans attacking their friends. It's okay to have favourites, it's not okay to tear someone down for not being that favourite.

Whoever said that you shouldn´t pause is not really understanding the point of a react video. If I wanna enjoy the original video, I´ll watch the original video. You can and should pause and I guess most of us are here to hear your thoughts about this masterpiece. I personally have troubles paying attention to what you´re speaking when there is a lot of noise happening on the background.

Hey .. there were at least 2 great female singers in the 80s .. Ann Wilson and Annie Haslam. I mean ok Renaissance was not metal but at least very symphonic.
But ok there were also Joan Jett and Lita Ford / The Runaways, Doro Pesch, Lee Aaron, Pat Benator, Robin Beck, Vixen.
And then in the mid 90s we got Lana Lana before it started with Nightwish and Within Temptation.
