- I flipped a Honda Civic and tripled up my money! I have always had fun buying and selling cars so when I saw this Honda Civic EK Hatch pop up on Facebook Marketplace, I knew I had to pick it up as a side hustle car flip project. This video will walk you through the exact process I took when flipping this Honda Civic EK Hatch with a B18C1 engine swap.

This is gonna be horrible for the used honda market, everyone thinking they can double their money in a day! Ouch 😂
I can only hope so lol
its been like that for almost 2 decades. it didnt ruin the market
Good for me because I’m about to sell my ek civic hatch manual
They gonna think it’s always that easy
I’m already on marketplace👀
You should list the price of the parts you swapped. ECU is more or less 300 and knuckle is another 300. Thats a significant cost if you didnt have those.
and the wheels....
@@rog3rs528 forgot about that yeah... now that you mention it, this video is misleading because it doesn't account for these these things. There is profit yes, but small to moderate and not double...
Ecu is like $30 or free shove it down your pants at a pick a part and so are knuckles. Get a clue
Scrapyard
@@BobbyBasketballl well he had one laying around if not he would have probably bought the wheel bearing for less then $50
You paid $1500. Your net was $2495. Not exactly tripling your money, but nice work nonetheless. Having spare parts laying around and being handy helps. Good stuff 👍👍👍
He had 1500, 11 days later he had 4500. If you keep the misc cost out (hence the use of “basically” in the video) he went pretty close to tripling his money
Apparently 1.66x your money is basically 3x lol Like its a nice flip but a blatant lie about 3x his money
Most people are probably not going to have a whole set of rims or an ECU lying around. Also it would be suspect if he "just happened" to have all the spare parts ready for any problems he has yet to find on any other cars he buys and flips. I think on this one he got lucky those were the only noticeable issues.
@@AzwadAnjum in theory, 11 days ago he had at least $2,005 in his bank account. He spent $2,005 dollars over 11 days to make $4,500 dollars. HE now has $4,500 in his bank account... this is not triple his money, he did not triple his money by any measure.
Hey that’s crazy, my friend just sent me this video! I sold that car to Daniel a little over a year ago! Looks like he didn’t change much after I sold it to him. Very cool I got to see this. Funny fact I bought that car for $300 and swapped it before I swapped and boosted my ek sedan! Let me know if the buyer does send you some updated pictures of the body work gets done that would be cool to see the history live on 🙏
Haha no way! Send me a message on instagram. @boosted_john

Dude. To be perfectly honest, this is a good hearted video. Good for you man. Keep on with it.
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed 🤘

Hell yeah bro, do more of these types of videos if you can! You’re doing these cars a favour by fixing them up and checking them over, and you’re giving the future owners a service by actually posting a good listing. It’s good to know exactly what you’re buying when you go to see it.
Love this type of video!!
Interesting video for sure. Wondering where in Illinois you are, I'm stuck here too.
This videos awesome, people are Afraid to make money keep it goin !
Always, always count the costs of those parts even if you think they aren't worth it to the final with the labor hours so you know exactly if you made profit or not. Not doing so devalues your labor and existing stock. I hate when people use the term flip, unless you just spit shined it and sold it to a better buyer, it's not really a flip. This also devalues the work put it. You made a profit by putting in the work and got compensated fairly, depending on how you rate your work to begin with - that is a great skill put to work. The buyer also got a good deal because he paid for that work not to be done in a shop or his own time.
Well done. However you should add the cost of your parts stash in the final cost. You would of had to buy them if you didn't already have them sitting around.
Congrats man u hit 60k. The best is yet to come.🎉🎉🎉🎉
I'm glad you mention being polite, i have been telling people, if you selling anything online, yes is yours, but being nice goes a long way. I have seen people post things for sale, but don't want to be asked questions about their post.
Great content and I really enjoyed how you explained each step in the process and your knowledge of Hondas also helps as I’m looking to do one as a first project. Thanks again 💯👍🏾
Keep being you John👊🏼
With all the effort and work you deserved the money you made profit overall good video love the channel
This one was a certified slapper. Good work boiiiii
I did the same thing bought a 97 ek hatch with a blown trans for $600 body and interior is clean . Ended up finding a whole d16y8 swap with record history for $900 and the car is running mint i wanted to flip it but I love this car to much now lol
I wouldn't even have been mad to see I bought a car for twice the price if I saw this video about how it got fixed for me. Very cool!
Congratulations John! Nice job! This is a win win. LY ❤
Thanks mom ly
Bro flipping 90s Hondas is crazy if you can somehow do it props to you
Awesome video! I look forward to working on the car with my dad.
I love 90s Honda's. Owned a 95 accord ex for about 13 years. Great car. Back in the mid to late 90s, I bought and flipped couple of civics
lol starting my project soon ,going to enjoy the journey ,love cars of all kind
Your comments to your seller and buyer were awesome dude, that earned my sub
Thanks! Welcome to my channel!
One of the most popular US vehicles of all time. Well done dude! Just subscribed.
@Boostedjohn this is awesome would love to see more of it.
Thanks! Actively searching for another car.
Giving me the motivation to finish and sell my projects lol
Nice job man keep it up 👍
See here in socal you can’t do that bc people are selling that GSR head itself for $1500 🤣🤣 smh
THANK YOU. I try to tell my friends the red flags in a post they think is fine. If the post isn’t quality or at least somewhat detailed leave it be. -atleast for them because they aren’t mechanically inclined
It’s forsale ? No problems ? 🚩 nobody sells shit that works 😂
@@UTP_ENT mechanic owned good condition 😂😂 I just meant I help my friends look because they don’t know shit about cars lmao
I normally don’t care to watch these videos, but, I’m not sure what caught my eye and I had a good time watching it.
my guy really know his honda inside and out ❤️
😏
You have to input the parts you out into it even though you own them they still have a price with that said nice job I personally would have kept that gem for the fact that it was GS-R swapped the swap alone cost 4-5k
I wish I could give you 2 thumbs up. One for the state of IL comment and the other for your great work. Thanks for sharing.
Hahah I appreciate the comment!
Welcome to the game! I did this my last year of college for 6 month on Craigslist with Civics, Accords, and Camry’s and bought my first 5 bedroom rooming house. I subsequently bought a property a year there after using the equity from the one before.
That’s so awesome! I hope to do this someday.
Thats dope bro
@@boosted_john your off to a good start brother! You have the “can do” attitude!
Bro I can't even find a Honda Civic anymore 😩
I could never do this. I’d end up never selling it 😂
Lol I stuffed with that on the most recent one. Really wanted to keep it.
I get not including the price of the knuckle assembly and the trottle position sensor cause you could get those from the junk yard for
Those wheels are worthless 16s are shit they have bad tire choices and they’re replicas of a non popular wheel. Tires are worth more than the rims
Good deal! Civic hatches sell well. I pick up eg/ek hatches for $400-$600 and sell them for 3k-4k
I’m also from Illinois I’m near 60402 zip, I own a civic EF hatch that I’m trying to flip, it’s a good but rough process, it’s currently sitting on coils
i like to buy old d series hondas with blown head gaskets, rough idles, and automatic transmissions, i find them for 5-800 dollars all day. helps if you can find a vtec model too. honda guys will pay nicely for a well done manual swap and you can get all the parts for less than 400 dollars. also a head gasket job on these little single cams takes a few hours tops. detail interior and clean up the engine bay and you got a 3000 dollar car from a 600 dollar car after a weekend of work (or less, i just picked up a sedan for 450 with idle issues)
Fantastic! You are the coolest guy I (don’t) know. Thanks for sharing! Peace and love..Suz What ☮️💛
Haha thank you. Peace and love..Boosted John 🏎️🏁
Not sure what state your in and im in N.H.,M.A. area but, i would find a way to come get it, if you do this again i would love to purchase a honda from you, knowing that you went threw it! Love the videos #hondalife J. 😎
Thats dope. GOOD JOB BRO.
What chemicals do you use to clean the engine
Car wash Soap and water.
Great video, good music mix with the voiceover
This only works this smooth when you have a surplus of parts laying around.
Or a junk yard near by.
1500 for a ek gsr swap. Pretty impossible in WA state.
how did you get a ek hatch with a b series vtec fir 1500? thats crazy
In my area, a 200k mile salvage title, bad transmission cars still sell for $2k
Scott looking at this video shaking his head 😂
Great job!
That's not your average every day deal. That's a super good deal that you only find once in a while. You got people thinking they can get a GSR swap ek for $1500😂. It's just not happening unless you just get super lucky. Like i said you find deals like that once in a while not all the time. That car would normally go for 4k before you done anything to it lol😂.
Rust free bahahah $1500 capin
fr bro def got lucky and prices def depend on ur location. cant find any good hondas nowadays in the bay area
for real the engine alone goes for like $3k
Oh man, if one day I get a job in USA or Canada I'm definitely going to get one of these older Civics, I dream of getting the coupe version from 1995 to 2000. I currently have the 2000 lx model here in Brazil, and I love it so much.. Sadly even old civics are hard to maintain, the newer ones is just for people who get a decent money per month.. Seeing used civics for less than 3.000$ is crazy, here in Brazil with 3.000R$ you cant even buy a running decent car.
I got a Frankenstein EG coupe that had been sitting for 2 years for free. gave it a good cleaning, new battery and oil change. Sold it for $2k a week later
What song was that when you were cleaning the engine bay
So all I gotta do is have a ton of used parts laying around that are worthless except when I need it to fix all the issues I have with the flip. EZ money!
Awesome video sir
That swap is money!!
Lol I’m cali this car woulda been like 5k+ right off the bat😭
this was actually a rad format.
Hey bud what do I need to start using the Computer to check the ECU Data and all that. I want to start getting more into it already have Laptop just want to know what else I need
Nice job 👍
Great video 😮
Earned a sub🤙
New glarus 👀. I have a feeling you’re very close gurnee hahaha
What a good find, gsr engine swapped ek for 1500$
This is awesome
bruh before i finish watch your video, do you any idea how i can remove the piece of rubber from the cube we use to remove the spark plugs?
it was stuck in the inside of the spark plugs with the park so i try to remove with a screw driver but cant do harder cuz i dont want to broke the spark inside the chamber so let me know ASAP pls!!!! im a new follower btw love whole Honda civics gen except 2001-2005,mine is 2006 ex coupe bougth to come and come from home and work
B series ek in orlando in the thousand range is always average
People get mad when they cant understand the wiring to get vtec or the injectors going😊
I just bought a 2002 Ford focus with 178000 miles in 3 days I fixed the air conditioner and the fan relay sold for 2,500 I got a good deal on the. AR my customer was just looking g to get rid of it so I took it off there hands knowing I could fix what's sad is some macanic told them it would. Out over 2k to fix air conditioning I fixes it for $18 they were trying to scam them
10:17 "If your listing looks like crap, you are going to attract buyers."...or Boosted John 😁
Lol Boosted John as a buyer*
I couldn’t imagine finding a b series ek for $1500 😂 in my area straight shells sell for 2500. All the deals are found out of state you need to own a truck and trailer
bro how did u get that for 1500
HOLY MOLY. Thats a steal for 1500
As a mitsu fan, i always get confused when ppl say gsr and then show a honda engine lol
how're you so mechanically inclined? I wish I could figure out the issues that quickly just off of few test drives and then figure out exactly what I need to do to fix it lol
I bought my 2008 Accord wagon 3 years ago for $5000 when the used car market started going crazy, do you think I could triple my money on that pile🤔🤔🤔🤔
Where are you located I have a 1999 Honda accord manual I don’t want anymore thing runs like a champ radiator needs replaced which is an easy fix and the cv axle also needs replaced which I have the part for just don’t have the time
Bro !!! In New Jersey they would sell this for $5,000 as is
How in the world did you get a car WITH a b18c for that cheap!! I can't get that motor that cheap in WA state
God given.
@@boosted_johnno kidding. I paid $2000 for my 2000 ex auto that hadn't been washed in 5 years with no cat and busted del sol wheels. Just finished the video and well done man!! I started my parts career at 16 at a honda dealership and been hooked since. 52 honda's later and here we are.
I need to do this....working at a quality parts store I'd save alot of money on the fixes.
Screenshot of my phone wallpaper that is my car is not a good photo for a Marketplace post? Even if I have notifications when I screenshot?
How do I manually turn crankshaft on a 04 civc ex
Thanks John !!! Ruined my side hustle!!!!
what did u use to clean the engine bay?
Soap and water
how much time you put into fixing it? that should be included in your expenses. Then it would be clear if it was worth messing with it. Thank you
I wanna know what was in that spray bottle that he used to clean the engine bay
Soap and water
You should use the 2k to paint it
This guy must watch KG garage keep gunning
Nope, but I’ll check him out.
This dude got a steal
He got really lucky
I sold my car WAY too cheap. Luckily I wasn’t trying to flip it for profit. Listed it for $2,750, sold it an hour later for $2,250. The guy that bought it listed it about 30 minutes later for $4,250 and sold it that same day. 2005 Accord V6 with 329k miles. It had every factory option, and I upgraded the radio with a 10” touchscreen with Apple CarPlay. Car was super clean inside with only a single 2” tear in the leather on the driver bolster. Outside had typical clear coat fade and a crack on the front bumper. Mechanically sound, I had replaced the power steering pump and rack, new suspension bushing all the way around, new brakes, new tires, all new gaskets on the engine. Didn’t leak or burn a drop of oil. Honestly was a really good car, aside from the mileage. I had about $3k into it altogether and drove it for a few years🤷♂️
Way to explain to the world how you got hosed
329k? 😳 You were fair man, that flipper is a sociopath
Damn $1500. This car in my area would be 6k and say “I know what I have”
😂 pick up my swap 3 yrs ago now it goes for 10k and it and not k or turbo 🤔
BE CARFUL THE TAX MAN IS WATCHING ALSO !
Are you floating titles? How are you changing title hands so fast?
You can ask the dmv to expedite the title delivery for an extra fee. It will come within 1-3 business days.
Wait, y'all are putting titles in your name? 👀
You didn’t triple your money, you didn’t figure you’re time worth, and you just happened to have random parts that swapped right in
While this flip was a good one with all your extra spare parts “laying around”, let’s flip the next one and see what the net profit will be getting some decent wheels n tires? I did this a couple times about 10 years ago and the profits averaged $1,000. While 5th n 6th gens are getting cheaper to buy depending how busted they are, the parts are getting more expensive it’s wild 😬
beautiful.
Tbh u got lucky. a gsr ek for 1500 that drives when rn shells are going for 1500, highly unlikely in this market.
Test drive before you buy !
bro PLEASE DO A CHEVY CAVALIER
Dude I need your expertise. I have a 98 Honda accord Lx…
What do I do if my 2000 civic ek take awhile to pick up speed when I put my foot down
