If the writers and artists were going for "terrifying", they really nailed it. Everything about this is just disturbing, gruesome, and evil.

You know Red Hood catches on faster then everyone else in the room. Had he not hesitated for a second more the Batman who laughs wouldve been just another nightmare.

I love how with Superman is just having a normal day, the art style is very heroic and bold. But when he gets to the murder scene and gets poisoned, the art style is disturbing and creepy. I love that.
I might be wrong, but I (think?) I remember this being the same scene,but played out and extended over 2 separate series or 1-shots,explaining the difference in art. The way this is edited together though, it totally works but!

Yeah I think he realized what was happening but just didn’t react in time. Crazy to think that if he was a second faster, Red Hood could’ve stopped what may be the biggest threat the entire multiverse.

Edit: making my second point clearer, the bullets went through red hood, he has probably built pain tolerance over the years, the only flinching people do when they get shot is a reaction, like saying ow when u stub ur toe, so the bullet would go through rh like he was jello not affect his stance or knocking him back. Btw I wrote this in another reply, just copied and put here

By the rules of multiple reality theory you are absolutely correct. If I had it my way I'd write a story where jason does indeed kill the infected Bruce and he and the rest of the bat family take up the estate..

As soon as Batman said he'd been infested with Joker's toxin, the bat family should've immediately taken him down. The greatest detective should've taught them to be prepared to turn on your own allies
they did fnd him suspicious especially nightwing but when they started to try to act against it batman immediately pulled out guns which is highly unexpected of him. They all didn't expect it. Red hood could have done something but he didn't react faster.
@M Billa Wasn't plot armor, they weren't just going to tackle him. And from their stand point Batman wasn't doing anything crazy or suspicious; just talking crazy.
And as you can see, Jason was already reaching for his gun as he knew something was about to go down.
He tried to. Clearly, he failed.
Maybe the week long intense training had them exhausted and not as quick as they could be?
A really cool detail when Batman killed the bat family was that you could see that red hood almost stopped him right there but he got shot before he could aim his guns i on batman

I understand the fact of the bat family wanting to save bruce but I feel even they would notice a shift during the conversation and wouldn't have gone down that fast without a good enough fight
The Joker was capable of tricking batman the greatest detective, so a mix up of joker characteristics kinda justifies it.

All of them were trained by batman and have a weakness for him.
Even if they suspect, he's a father figure. Even to Red Hood. If Batman says he's ok, he's ok, seeing the most resilient man in the world get sacked would take them a second - and you have to factor in that while they are all capable, Batman is completely aware of this, and started with, "I need help". It's a powerful motivator. They likely all suspected but the answer here was kill Bruce, and they hesitated. They wanted to hesitate.
If it was anyone else, ok, but not Batman himself. That buys them a moment's hesitation, and it's more than Batman would need.
That's not even to speak of Joker's capabilities, Diego is right. That's just twisting the knife.
It's because everyone in this comic, is nerfed into complete cavemen.

Red Hood understands Bruce maybe better than anyone else. He’s as dangerous, is not more so, and if there’s a threat to his family that comes from within, he’d not hesitate to eliminate it. I think he was waiting to try and see if Bruce does something but waited a split second too long. I don’t think Prime Red Hood would have waited

BWL probably shot him first and in the manner guarenteed to kill him immediately because he knew Jason was quickly becoming suspicious and was definitely the most kill-ready of the batfam... until BWL. Yep, he actually tells Batman he will help stop BWL. He was straight up serious, even leaves Lex's side when Lex makes a deal with BWL. Bruce, unlike Joker, wants to win. Joker tells Batman that he enjoys messing with him, it's all about the game to him. But for BWL it's about winning, the big picture.
Joker has not once betrayed Batman during their encounters with BWL. He's one of the few things they both agree on.

As a side note, why in the freezing hell the writers just LOVE to portray Superman as just plain dumb? The moment he noticed Batman had this weird talk and whatnot (he straight up called him an alien, which is highly unusual to him), he should be able to know that something was up and use his super-senses as a defense mechanism to know beforehand about any trap or some shit.

Eddie Murphy has a routine on the difference between white people and black people when it comes to horror. White people enter the house, see blood dripping down the wall, and say, "that's peculiar" and go further into the house. Black people enter the house, the house says "GET OUT" and it's "too bad we can't stay" and they leave. Supes had no reason to suspect a trap but it took him a bit longer than it should to notice the carnage right in front of him. Should have been an instant OH SHIT and right back out the airlock to examine the situation from the outside. The sunlight would also have helped him fight the kryptonite. If there was that much kryptonite in the air, wouldn't it have had a smell of some kind?

The fact that they drew Jason popping off a shot as well as the bullet going through his helmet indicates that he was literally the most dangerous one in that room. Yet for some reason he didn't wear his bullet proof helmet. Must have forgot it.
Red hood is bulletproof, but bulletproof does not mean invincible. Batman probably used some heavy bullets to strike red hood brain with the bat-uzis

If it only affected him when he entered the room, what stopped his senses earlier? Also, given the size of the watchtower and the many other leaguers that operate in it, how did Superman not find anything suspicious when Batman would have undoubtedly killed them too on his way here? This doesn't even factor in how Superman should've already been cautious before even entering the base since he noticed how different Batman sounded. Even Bat's response should raise suspicions.
I think it's a clear sign of lazy and contrived writing if you can only write a character as a mastermind if you portray every other character around them as an imbecile.

Superman is supposed to be a highly intelligent hero, he should have contingencies in place too. Like a suit that will blast his body with solar radiation when he presses his belt, would give him a boost through kryptonite or anything else like a powerful opponent like Darkseid or Doomsday. For someone with high intelligence and access to advanced technology, Superman really comes across as a meathead sometimes.
He is a meathead. Prime had a solar suit, you'd think Superman would've took the hint. But then again, pretty much anything he makes it out of is gonna get pulverized every other week by whoever the cosmic villain of the day is. Superman is also pretty trusting, the idea of his best friend going evil doesn't really occur to him

No this is happening in a dark multiverse of possibilities far more vast than the main multiverse and based on the fears of the main multiverse. Even entire Crisis events play out where the heros just flat out lose. This is just a very incapable version of Supes against the most capable version of Bruce Wayne in *all* existence. The Superman and the Batman would've done things almost if not entirely differently.
@@ok-jq1jh I don't think this Superman is that incapable, I think Laughs kind of boxed him in by bringing Lois and his kid to the Watchtower. Superman might not have been aware that Batman had become evil, and his super-hearing doesn't work in space and I would assume the Watchtower is lead-lined to block space radiation. He had to go in there, and once he was in, the krytonite-infused air stripped his powers. His only other option would've been to abandon his family once he realized it was a trap, which would be rather out of character for him.

Generally takes more than kryptonite gas to totally disable main Supes powers. He regularly fights through initial exposure, and it doesn't go unnoticed by him. There's even a Lois Lane who kills all the heros on earth in this dark multiverse. And evil Supermen who do the same to theirs.
Like yeah if Bats preps enough he can win. Just saying main Superman usually doesn't go down that easily though. Many have tried this and failed. He'd wreck this weaker version of Supes too.

Which he was probably not expecting, and once she had his powers, killing the rest of the heroes isn't that infeasible, especially given that Superman tends to hold back in fights to avoid killing or severely injuring anyone. Superman's powers getting transferred to someone without moral inhibitions would be quite deadly

Well the Phantom Zone exists between the main multiverse and the dark multiverse. Still not exactly sure how that helps BWL without a phantom projector to get out. But he could be saying "that won't work" in response to them suggesting they keep him there until a cure can be found. So it might not necessarily mean he knew how to escape it, especially since Barbados hadn't shown up yet and spilled existence secrets.
At any rate "that won't work" seemed to be intentionally vague from him. It could've even meant he just knew it was already too late. Plus without the nth metal cowl thing he has later on, he can't not naturally decay outside of the dark verse. If he had known his universe was either: dark or decaying
he might've had some sense he would decay in the PZ.
And lastly his knowledge at first was based on Bruce Wayne's knowledge and history alone. Yet he's in a dark universe, he might've noticed some differences.
“I know. Catch 🙂” gets me everytime. That whole story event really displayed how dangerous batman in any universe is without self control.
At this point I’m convinced that Superman has a non existent plot armor 😂

Everyone that is crying about Superman being beaten, needs to understand that he knew there was danger. When batman started talking weird it tipped him off so he wanted to save him faster. It could of been a number of things effecting batman and the justice league like fear toxins or some sort of mind control. Superman knew there was danger and walked right in because he's Superman. Superman was defeated because he's Superman and will always rush to help those who ask!!!
Yeah and that's what I hate it about him, he faught batman so many times he should least expect use of kryptonite before going into that ship since he already got tipped off, he got xray vision and super hearing but didn't used to hear or see batman killing all Jl members, he's speed is compared with flash. For such a God like being to be push around like this is a shame. Totally losing interest in super man now, the alternate version is way better even if he losses in the end.
@@wizefool6558 actually there's no indication that supes had any combat experience with batman yet in this dark timeline. And If you think about it you shouldn't actually hear anything in space especially in a pressurized base or container which is kinda inconsistent with super power cause I have seen him hear in space close to orbit but it actually makes more sense to NOT hear anything from space then to be able to. I miss the old superman who went toe to toe with darksied. DC has really fucked up the power levels. I don't know who's stronger than who now. You should read the comics again, rather than trust a few panels on a youtube vid. This is just one possible universe in the dark multiverse, far more vast infinite multiverse than the main multiverse was and based on the fears of the main multiverse. Even entire past Crisis events play out where the heros just flat out lose. The most capable evil Bruce Wayne in *all* existence against a Superman less capable than THE Superman in this possibility. Barbados was supposed to consume these universes before he disobeyed his function.
THE Superman has been written far better in recent years than what it used to be like, especially in JL like man.... the stuff he does is amazing. The power scaling will still get a bit wonky at times, but less so, and will make much more sense for the most part once you finish the last major event.
What you're seeing is a possibility that just happens to set up the BWL.

Same method with Superman, a toxic gas I'd imagine. A neurotoxin? You'd have to hit him first with it and wait before you do anything so it's already spread. But given how he stretched out and there wasn't any blood it definitely took time. It's likely when he realized it he stretched to try and thin it out or buy time. Failed in the end.
I mean liquid nitrogen could work and maybe plasma or extreme heat as well

He died stretched out while also straggling tge flash , meaning whatever it was that killed him happened before he could even react to it, it seems he was also controlled to strangle tge flash so a safe beet would be nano techonology that can control him and also release some sort of toxin or head or cold to kill him, it could most likely been in the air same way he had kryptonite in it.
I think how Jason may have reacted fast enough to get an attack in before dying because he suspected from the beginning where this was going. Note he doesn't say anything during the entire bat meeting, except towards the end where he says a single sentence. He was silent the majority of the exchange, pondering
Jason's silence could have been him analyzing the situation and preparing for any potential threats. It's possible that his experience as Robin and his heightened senses allowed him to react quickly in the face of danger. However, without more context, it's hard to say for certain what was going through his mind during the meeting. But your thoughts on Jason's behavior certainly add an interesting dimension to the scene.

@M Billa Well it seems to be implied if you look at the background when super man walks in he seems to be stretched around the flash along with the whole tower. But I still think that he should at worst just be temporarily out of commission and would be back to normal in hours/days because he is quite literally both immortal and invulnerable in most of his incarnations.
The way that even the artstyle becomes more twisted and scary at the end, is impressive it started very heroic but then slowly shaped into, nightmare fuel is incredible

Yeah but to be fair he did have a fair amount of plot armor in this comic and alot of characters he either killed way too easily or should have never been able to kill them in the first place (for example plastic man is quite literally both immortal and invulnerable so he shouldn't have been able to kill him).

I liked this once, because the point is that he's a bad dream brought to life - but with too many appearances you get "all the stupid plot powers of Batman and the Joker in the same character!"

It's crazy to me that in a moment where Superman KNOWS Batman is trying to murder him, that his next level of power didn't come out. You know, that extra push he gets in a crisis, so at the very least escape the satellite.

The whole Batman Who Laughs thing kind of feels like that for me: the interesting "what if . . .?" aspect gets buried under so many cases of plot-induced stupidity and contrived coincidence, all geared to make BMWL wind up this big terrifying menace, that the answer to "what if . . . ?" winds up being "then that would be dumb."
@@cr820 my main question is specifically Flash, really, because he's the character Batman has the least options prepared for that are a full stop. Supes he at least has been preparing for this whole time, but Flash has so few weaknesses, and so many tricks that killing him as a base human without getting the drop on him (I.e. kill him while asleep) is essentially impossible.

The guy knows how powerful he is and even if he knew something was up with batman he'd probably underestimate a guy with no powers, would take it easy to try and save him or both. What? I think you misinterpreted something. There's even a version of Lois Lane in this dark multiverse that killed all the heros on her earth. Some versions can be more or less capable than their main multiverse counterparts. Any scenario that comes from fear can and will happen in the dark multiverse of infinite universes of possibilities. This one had the right circumstances to cook up BWL. That's what I meant by rigged.
Like if that Lois Lane tried kill the main earth heros she'd fail. If that Superman fought main Superman he'd fail. And if main Batman tries to take down main Superman it won't be that easy no matter who would win. Devastator did however beat main Superman in their first encounter, even had to be BFR'd by Flash and Fate. And without Kryptonite being involved, as so many villains have already tried anyways. Dev then proceeded to solo:
Guardian, Firestorm, Wally West (pre-unmoored), Jessica Cruz (pre-Omega energy), Supergirl, a few more I forgot and even beat Lobo at his own style and threw him into the sun before stealing the Cosmic Tuning Fork. All of them he solod in one run were the main earth versions too.
Devastator is one of my favorite characters and I'm so glad a Batman finally got pushed to the point where a Kryptonite spear or some gas, well, just won't cut it let's put it that way. It's much more consistent with what main Superman can deal with, he's fought a dude made of Kryptonite. Bats finally decided to fight fire with fire... But he can breath Kryptonite out of his breath if he wants xD
Notice how Bruce is looking DOWN when he smiled before killing the Bat Family? He knew if Jason had seen him smile he would've been dead.

Superman is so inconsistent. In some comics he has the power of a outerversal cosmic god but in this comic he couldn’t even see through the watch tower to see the league dead and an evil Batman inside. Also how did Batman beat Wonder Woman or Shazam they have no weaknesses? Wouldn’t Superman easily sense the kryptonite air? Superman should’ve also heard the fighting and screams, he could’ve also sensed Bruce’s internal vitals change since he’s the joker now. I have so many questions lol

Actually this was intentionally designed with plot this time, rather than surviving against it. It's a universe in the infinite dark multiverse where the fears of the the main multiverse can and do happen.
This possibility has the most capable and evil version of Bruce Wayne in existence against a less capable version of the rest of the JL.
There are even entire past Crisis events where the heros completely lose in the dark multiverse. Evil Supermans too, and you could safely assume most had Bruce Wayne's that tried to stop them and failed. Even one had Lois Lane kill all earth's heros with a super suit.
Barbados is supposed to consume these universes but eventually gets tired of being Alpehus's pet and decides to let them decay, "kills" Alpheus, and after this picks this Bruce out of all decaying possibilities as part of his army.
The plot armor comes in when he arrives to the main multiverse with Barabados secrets of existence. Literally plot armor, his spiked helmet is dark metal keeping him from decaying out of existence among other things...
I know you guys don't really like TBWL but I really liked how the writers did this they show you an example of what joker would do if he became batman, killing all of Bruce's loved one's and his close friends. And this tells you how psychotic the joker can be

He breathed to start talking. He trusted Batman who is the most badass member of the Leauge. He didn't use his super senses cause he trusts batman. thats how he was able to be defeated so easily cause he trusted batman and the BWL knew this and used it.
