I went vegan a few years ago and within the first year, normalized my super sky high cholesterol for which I took 80mg of statins; normalized my blood pressure and lowered my heart rate; got rid of fatty liver disease, pre-diabetes and lost 25 pounds. (Drops mic)

Yes, very to the point and no messing around
Halle Berry has been keto 20 years
I can see youâre putting in a ton of hours to bring truth to light - thank you, clarity on this topic is so very needed.
I did keto and IF in the past and even though I lost weight, I was so miserable! I missed carbs so badly. I had to have cups of coffee in the afternoon and if I donât fast, I would easily gain my weight back. Oh well, I eventually gained most of my weight back. September last year, I decided to be vegan AGAIN. Yes! I had several attempts in the past and I didnât have the right tools to cope with social pressure. And Iâm Filipino. Itâs hard to find Filipino and Vegan in the same sentence lol! But after watching so many documentaries, news, interviews of plant based doctors, CZcams videos of vegan advocates like Earthling Ed, Melanie joy etc, Iâve made a commitment to never look back. And I definitely am not looking back. Iâve truly reached the point of no return. Vegan for my health, for my love of carbs, for the planet, and for the animals.
@AntiCap Atheist Dr Greger and Dr McDougall have actually helped people with their health issues. You - however - is just a vile and hostile troll who spreads negativity and hate.
@AntiCap Atheist dude are you gonna keep spreading bullshit youâre literally replying to everyoneâs comments just spreading lies like bro get a life no one cares đđđđ
@AntiCap Atheist look up the longest living people on the planet today.
@AntiCap Atheist "At least I'm not making up shit about those doctors."
You just lied and said that Dr McDougall has dementia. You don't have any evidence for that claim. And I recently saw a lecture with him from not too long ago, and he spoke about complex topics absolutely fluently, without any trouble remembering difficult facts. You are probably just full of shit because of your hate for vegans.
Pinay here and I canât imagine myself without meat.. I did keto but after loosing weight the carb cravings got me and gained back my weight, even more đą I am in the point of watching and researching about plant based... and so far getting there đđ»đđ»
Very informative. I had no idea that so many low-carb books came from the 50's and 60's
I know the Atkins diet was created in the 60s, didn't know the others existed. The keto diet has been around since the 1920s
I can remember people in the sixties saying that bread and potatoes were fattening.
We learn a tonne from you! Thank you for the research you do for us!
Iâve been vegan for four years now and before I ate everything especially meat and ended up with my cholesterol so high I had to have a triple bypass and the doctor said if I had stayed on eating meat and smoking I would be dead Iâm 66 thank you for sharing this

Two of my vegan friends died in their 40s....Your point is?
Even though I agree that eating a keto diet is not a good idea, anecdotes doesn't say much about public health outcomes. One can have misfortune and die early despite eating healthy and exercising. We need to stop using anecdotes as facts, and start looking at scientific evidence.

My niece did keto for almost 6 years and really messed up her health. She was keto from the age of 17 to around 23. Her periods stopped and her cholesterol was well over 300. She has yet to regain her period and it has been almost 3 years since she stopped being strictly keto.

Vegan doesn't mean healthy lol they probably had a lot of processed foods and or smoked or didn't exercise.I follow long term vegans and they are healthy. As much I don't like some of his views on history but John Rose knows his shit about food and he's been raw Vegan for 30 years. And just yesterday I stated a 30 day juice fast so I can get the mucoid plaque out of my intestinal tract. If you don't know what that is I suggest you look it up because it's scary lol and is probably the cause of a lot of illnesses.
@@OZIPUG1970 Worried for you Jamie. âMucoid Plaqueâ is a known hoax and has absolutely no basis in medical science. A 30 day juice fast will likely be a terrible thing for your body, especially if you havenât built up to it with shorter extended water fasts. Please see your doctor for advice before you start this.
@@asarcadyn2414 I think your wrong lol I've seen it from people who have no reason to lie about it and they aren't even vegan.

Great video! Just starting the journey to a plant-based diet.
Make sure you stock up on b12, d3 and omega pills. Your deficient vegan diet will depend on these supplements
I'm a convinced omnivore that loves real food and very few junk foods that I rarely consume and I lead a pretty balanced diet. My parents taught me that too much of anything is bad for you and considering you never know what kind of chemicals can end up in your plate or maybe even a glass of wine, so I just vary and don't stick to specific brands hoping this way according to the principal of sensibilisation I never get intoxicated đ€Ł. I never counted calories and when I wanna loose a few pounds I just lower my bread, pasta and potato portions and opt for fruit with lower levels of fructose, go for long walks or ride bike instead of using a car.
Another brilliant video
Are all costos laid out identically? That looks exactly like my costco in Union, NJ!
I really enjoyed this, thank you! I have tried the more animal-based keto approach and ended up with deficiencies and injuries and I could FEEL it aging me. I could also see it, every time I looked in the mirror, with the bags that and lines that suddenly showed up under my eyes. That's why I'm trying a more plant-based Flexitarian approach, with 1-2 servings of eggs, meat, and cheese, per day. (for the purposes of vanity, of course ;p who cares how long I live, as long as I look good! j/k). The rest is low-carb veggies, fruits, nuts, seeds, soybeans, etc. BTW, two things that I've found really hard to get enough of on the low-carb diet are potassium and silica. Both are very important for cardiovascular health. I wonder if the lack of them has contributed to these unfortunate early deaths? And if you look at the people touting low-carb and keto diets, these days...most of them are super young! What do they know or care about longevity or even disease? I'm in my mid-40's and I already have a number of things that I'm trying to heal from (spinal injury, insulin resistance, etc.). So, I really get this. Anyway, thanks again!
Really enjoyed his commentary

I don't think I have heard anyone developing metabolic diseases like diabetes from eating a low carb diet. But I have heard people getting diabetes from slamming on excessive carbs and sweets.
Actually, according to scientists, what causes diabetes is not sugar, but saturated fats. Fats plug up the works and prevents insulin from doing its job. After a while of not being effective, the pancreas simply stops producing insulin. At that point, the person has to inject themselves with insulin. Sugar only indicates that something is wrong when consumed by a diabetic. Itâs like flicking a cigarette from a car onto dry grass. Youâre going to get a reaction because the circumstances are just right.
My blood sugar was out of control on a low carb diet, even though by all accounts it was a healthy one. It's normal now on plant based. Just my story. But, I agree that crap food will do terrible things to any food plan.
Let good food be thy medicine.
I love that you threw in that I Love Lucy episode clip. I have been obsessed with re-watching those and that is one funny episode. I used to be a big keto fan - traded muscle for SUCH high fat! I am not even kidding. almost 30% body fat when I started at about 20%. I had NO ENERGY even after doing ALL the things they suggest, after 8 months my body never adjusted and I just felt fatty and tired. I have been almost vegan for over a year and have never felt better. I need to cut out the fish entirely - I started yesterday after watching Seaspiracy. Very moving. I cannot contribute to that anymore. Thank you for this.
Everyone is different. 18 months ago, I went ketogenic. Dow 55 lbs. Triglycerides cut in half. Hdl way up. Tri/HDL went from 5 to 1.18. blood pressure went from 130/90 to 110/60. Unlimited energy. Never felt better. Only an N= 1 study, but it's the only one that matters for me.
Brooke , Its a great story , but i don't believe it.
@@rod7944 I agree itâs great for some people. I shouldnât have made the blanket statement that itâs not a good diet. For some it works great.
Well done, fascinating. Low carb about 7 years and it about killed me. Minute switched to being vegan (plus no fat), my health changed, I could walk a block and I felt SO MUCH BETTER. I think I was on the way down with Keto....down..down to a bad place.
Paleo always mystified me, didn't people back then have a life expectancy of like.... 35 years or something?
When I cut way down on fastfood, processed sugar, baked goods, watched my portions, and added in exercise I lost weight! Be smart peeps!
I'm a vegan, but an observation on the data for centenarians among the various blue zones: Most of these places seem to have very poor record keeping, and are among the more impoverished areas in their respective regions, with lower levels of literacy, etc. There are strong individual economic motives to prevaricate regarding dob. Much of the epidemiology regarding these groups does not seem to stand scrutiny.
That's definitely a limitation to watch for. Personally, my favorite Blue Zone study is the Adventist 2 study because it's all done in North America and with a population that is not pre disposed to exaggerating their age.

I eat only meat. It makes me feel healthy and strong. I am not saying I will live forever eating meat but it's working for me currently
Should really eat vegetables. My husband ate only meat, maybe a little potato here and there he considered corn a vegetable (it's a starch). He has been gone 10 years now, esophageal cancer, 54 years old. Vegetables are so important. I do feel that his limited diet, only animal protein, contributed to his early death.

Itâs not just dying early. I eat wfpb and a guy that I worked with only a short time saw me eating raw broccoli for lunch one day. He was a skinny little guy around 50 years old. Iâm almost 60 and so far Iâm doing fine.

I am totally vegan, but isn't it important to explain how these people died at whatever age? I mean, if they were all ran over by the bus at age 80, it has nothing to do with their diets.
đ€Šââïž
I've seen this video and one or both of those earlier videos you mentioned. I have several issues that I'd like to playfully consider about your analysis in that maybe these Keto folks never exercised, perhaps they ingested alcohol and/or smoked tobacco, or perhaps bad genetics and bad environmental development didn't help (nature versus nurture), maybe they had various medical conditions that would have killed them sooner rather than later, maybe because the science and medicine of the day did its best but wasn't nearly good enough to extend the life of these people, and maybe it was just bad luck. I am by no means making excuses for a bad diet or a lack of exercise or a host of other contributing factors that ended their lives sooner than could have been otherwise achieved through a vegan diet, but there are lots of people who are not vegetarians and live to be well into their 100s. George Burns who famously smoked cigars daily and Bob Hope are two of my favorite examples of this. Sure, I feel certain to say that consuming a healthy amount of broccoli per day is better than a cigarette or a glass of wine per day, but despite their apparent "bad nutrition advice," just being the Devil's advocate here to say that maybe there are more than a few contributing factors to why these "gurus" died younger than they could have.

I started keto back in 2014 and my health had never been better. I lost about 75 kiloes in two years (over half my weight), I had tons of energy every day, quit my allergy medisin and I needed much less sleep. Never felt better in my entire life. Considerably change in every way, from depression and anxiety to being so incredibly awake all the time. Concentration and so forth. I could go without food for 6 hours straight while hiking, garden working and my mood never changed. I felt absolutely great! In 2020 I desided to cut out meat for moral reasons. It's been a year since I quit eating meat. Ever since I quit eating meat I have never felt the same again. I feel sluggish, I'm most likely missing important nutricions that I got from eating meat and nothings the same as before. I miss the taste of eating meat, but at the same time I am hesitant to go back, even though I know my health and mood would improve.. I tried eating fruits last year but I find that eating to much carbs bring back my allergies and I gain weight. Keto is the best way for me, so I find I have to eat alot more of fatty nuts like macadamia and such, peanut butter, olive, avocado and so forth. I find it's more difficult on a vegetarian/vegan diet then it was on a meat keto diet. At least back the I knew what to eat and what to stay away from to stay healthy and strong. Edit: That being said; even though I'm struggling eating a no meat diet I'm still against the meat industry.
On the sheer basis of reducing the suffering of sentient creatures and for the existential purpose of protecting the planet there exists no moral alternative to adopting a whole-food, plant-based diet. As the mathematicians might conclude Q.E.D.
Just because some Dr writes a diet book does not mean he follows his own advice, I could write a healthy diet book and smoke& drink like a fish and die in my 70's...
what is your take on Dr, Stephen Gundry
You're funny!!! Very beautiful presentation!!
Excellent
The longest living people eats all foods in their natural forms. Starches, vegetables, fruits, meats, fish, chicken, dairy, spices, herbs etc.. The secret is they avoid processed and refined forms of these specially meats, sugars and oils.
Doesnât matter what you eat, if you donât workout like you supposed to, food alone wonât save you.
Listen to your body when eating. For me, that means mostly animal foods and less plant foods. And when I say animal foods, I mean the whole animal (organs, blood, muscle etc...). If people ate the whole animal, we could probably reduce the number of cattles by 30-50%.
When talking about carnivores or low carb people that died "early", we know nothing about how much they exercised (remember sitting is killing us slowly), what social life did they have, and most importantly if they ACTUALLY ate what they were preaching.
This video makes no sense. You can say the same of vegans or omnivores that died early or got mentally ill, or got some other sickness early. It's all about listening to your body.
@AntiCap Atheist Amen!
Was that Alan Sherman singing "The Drinking Man's Diet?"
The cause of death of these people is very hard to find, but a brief review has revealed more than a few flaws in your blanket statements. Steffan Lindeberg for example, was not necessarily a meat based advocate. In fact, he studied, and promoted the Kitavan way of eating (about 70% carbohydrate). Just for the record, he died of pancreatic cancer. It would be very nice to see you do an updated version of this presentation using the real way people ate (that could be QUITE different than what they write about), and how they died.
Intermittent fasting and a balanced diet, meat, veggies, fruit and dairy are what works for me. Basically go easy on the bread, desserts and pasta. It helps to find the foods that spike your blood sugar. It is different for each of us. We can argue this all day but we are all unique and find success with different methods. I love food. I picked a group of healthy foods that I love and made it work for me along with the fasting. If I am in it for the long term then I need to be satisfied.
My mother listened to Carlton Fredericks 5 days a week. My sister and I were so damn hungry all the time. On top of that we both develop eating disorders.
Does anyone remember Gayelord Hauser? My mom was obsessed with him in the 60s. Whole foods, but.... he also promoted lots of animal protein, like liver..... um........what happened to him?
Is that the same Kriss Kressner that couldn't read a diagram, and he had to admit that on the Rogan podcast. What a tool that guy.

I believe that you have to listen to your own body. People have different blood types and body constitution, metabolism, and lifestyle. I know that when I tried low carb I had very low energy, was light headed etc... plus I noticed that I suffer from migraines and I know that the brain needs a certain amount of glucose to function properly and when I deny myself carbs itâs not good.... but I do believe fats even cholesterol are good for your body hair brain and skin and important for our hormones... proteins are too and you can get that from both animal and plants. I do believe excess sugars are not good for people though!! When I reduced sugar significantly, my body transformed for the better!! Sugar contributes to inflammation and even issues like cellulite wrinkles and cancers... so I know sugar especially refined sugar and processed foods are terrible!! A balanced whole food diet is always the best diet for anyone!!
Blood type has absolutely no influence on diet at all
What about Jack Lalane diet
I caddied many times for Jack when I was a teen! He's one of my heroes. I talked about him in one of the previous episodes. czcams.com/video/mIp_V3IGXjM/video.html

@@Deb_BG no not vegan only WFPB.
@AntiCap Atheist stupid comment.
They live to 97+ but what was their quality of life?
You could make the same video about vegans, specially with the fact vegans seem to have stokes all the time and vegan processed food is just as bad as keto or any other processed food.

I agree. Personally I see these diets as theological schemes. They are all wrong but useful. Keep them in the back of your mind and be willing to shift from using predominantly one or the other depending on the context. Problems always arise when one starts worshipping one single option.
I think people know about balance in all things. The trouble is we cannot decide what is good or bad. This changes on a daily basis. We fail to forget junk food and it's everywhere, is addictive
But what about vegan low carb? nuts based for example or at least vegan atkins
Thank you learning much. Been concerned brother remarried sister in law keto no meat high dairy. Brother nephew follow somewhat plus meat. Brother put on wt having added things like cream to coffee. Nephew told ok to eat junk due to needing calories for his strenuous workouts. He also uses protein drinks. Looks physically fit, but healthy? Concerned about 'fake sugar's they use though she says they use healthy varieties. Read these are worse than sugar due to screwing up bodies response to sugar affecting body to shut down and not process. Nephew getting older hope will research making own decisions.
Yeah I didn't recognize all but I noticed Zyzz. He died form a heart attack and was a juicer. I get that there is a pattern but it doesn't lead to causation. Susannah Mushatt Jones lived to 116 and swore by bacon. Ate bacon and eggs everyday. Anomaly I'm sure but still amazing she lived to that age with a diet like that. My favorite diet that I've done in life and think is healthiest was Dr. Graham's fruit based diet. Getting enough seasonable fruit and veg was a serious chore and expensive. Still follow the guy once in awhile. He seems to have aged pretty well.
You said you learned a âton from you guysâ. Sad to say, I did t learn a darn thing from this commentary. Not one thing!
I think the doctor whose work is most evident on this channel is Robert Cialdini.
Thanks for the Video, I'm 68 and last year I turned my life around. I started a Low carb low sugar and lowered my alcohol consumption. I also started to exercise daily. I lost 40Lbs and lowered my blood Pressure so I am now on minimal medication for that. This Diet has changed my life. Now what?
Now you are healthier in the short term, most likely not in the long term.
Bob Harper isn't dead!
He never said he was dead lol almost died though
Japanese eat almost all kind of food including grain like rice and meat.. and live long lives..
its only the dumbed down Americans who are bombarded with more kinds of diet and they dont even realize that they are being duped
"But carbs are bad" is what we hear all the time from those people.
@AntiCap Atheist If you are aware of Dr. Mcdougall's work, he has his patients loosing weight on a starch based diet, potatoes, corn, beans, peas, pasta...
What is bad is the refined carbohydrates but no one makes the difference. They will just say :"Eat low carbs" which is just an invitation to eat lots of animal products.
@AntiCap Atheist you have 40 comments on this channel dude does it offend you that much that weâre being healthy and not following a bullshit keto diet
@@isabellezablocki7447 Mcdougal looks like shit, why would any one listen to his nutrition advice
@@MlgDuckies a grossly deficient vegan diet is not healthy, every one know this outside your vegan echo-chamber
Bob Harper is still alive, I believe....
Mediterranean keto is a much better diet best of both worlds
