  • Bonjour, it's Théo 👋
In today's episode of SPILL THE FRENCH TEA, I want to talk about why I stopped drinking alcohol at the beginning of 2024, and why it can also change your life to do the same! 🍷

You have a good perspective of life with alcohol, especially living in France where alcohol is so much a part of the culture.

Good for you, Théo! You've learned many good lessons about alcohol at a young age & saved yourself a lot of pain

I don't drink often to begin with, but decided to abstain from alcohol drinking in January as well. It wasn't weird to say no, and I found myself not missing alcohol. I still had fun going out, and it was nice to wake up without a headache even if I go home at 2am. I just continued it without any rules. Now I drink if there's high quality wine I'm excited to try, but if I'm going out with friends I just drink soda or juice. It's so much better!

So glad you've come to this realization at a young age. I quit drinking 18 years ago at the age of 47. I'm happy for people that can have a drink or two and stop. Took too many years to accept that was not an option for me. I'll be in Paris in two weeks and I'll have a great time drinking coffee and hot chocolate and not feeling wasted and hung over the next day. 😃😃

It’s kind of hard to stop drinking in Paris because there’s so much wine and champagne. Moderation is key

I don’t drink much. I wine taste as a hobby, and usually spit after tasting. I have a collection of wines, for special occasions. My friends think I’m weird, but I do most things in moderation.
    I think you’ve made a thoughtful choice.
Drunkeness is not cute, or cool.

I have the same love for wine ! I will drink it again in the future I think, but always for a good tasting, not just to drink a lot

Very inspiring, I grew up in a family where culturally alcohol is very prevalent, and this year in particular I have just been in social settings where it's consumed a lot more but last week I met someone who is super fun to be around and was kind of surprised to learn they don't drink at all! I actually had this in mind before seeing this video, and now this video is much more impactful and inspires me to consider it a bit more before consuming it. Thank you!

So proud of you, Theo! 🎉 I also don’t drink and think that is the best choice! I sympathize with you that others might judge you or it might be awkward. But the good choices in life aren’t always easy and aren’t always popular, but so worth it! Thanks for sharing! 😊

Good for you. I’m drinking much less as I get older. I still enjoy champagne and rose.

You have made a very smart choice. I have known of people, who ruined their life and those of their family members, due to alcohol addiction.
Withstanding peer pressure or the need for social drinking, can be tough. However, your health and wellbeing are more important. Drugs and alcohol are not anybody's friends. Best for us all, to remember that. Thanks for sharing your insights, Theo.

I totally agree. Too much alcohol really makes things sloppy and ultimately destroys the fun . People who want to cut down on drinking or avoid certain foods sometimes worry too much what others will say or think when they turn down food or drink. I discovered that when you feel awkward declining,, take a drink in your hand or food on your plate. Lift the glass or fork to you lips, but put the glass or fork down before you partake. No one notices. People don't REALLY pay as much attention as you may think. I'm really glad that non-alcoholic beverages are starting to catch on. I can't wait for France to make really kick-ass non-alcoholic wine and champagne. I know France will blow every other wine making region out of the water.

BONJOUR ENCORE, THEO, I have six alcoholic beers in my refrigerator, plus wines, champagne, for almost one year and a some liquor on a bookshelf. This is for guests only! Drinking is a social activity that requires THINKING and DISCOVERING when you have to stop. At your age, drinking was a necessary evil to being SOCIAL. But I don't NEED it! If you start to NEED IT, then there is the problem!

I stopped alcohol about 10 years ago now and have never felt better. In the UK there’s this horrible binge drinking culture and I fell into it….I would drink just to get drunk and felt disappointed if I never got even tipsy if out. I decided the hangovers weren’t worth it anymore and so gave up - I don’t miss it, haha.

Youth here in Norway stopped drinking alcohol, which is very expensive, and went to drugs. Drug abuse is really exploding at schools here, big crisis, they make a catastrophe plan to try to stop it now.

Drugs are chemical substance and no good for the body. Moderate amounts of alcohol is okay for the body.

I never drunk alcohol; luckely never liked it! And always enjoyed partys! It is, like you say, only default, so an absoslutely unnecessary invented habit of society! And be sure, you will miss nothing without; they're is no advantage of consuming it! I'm the living example and give you the guarantee;)))..😆😉;)
