Hi Mr. Velocity, I'm building a 12 pound Tombstone-like spinner for Motorama and the Franklin Institute event, and I wondered if you had any advice or recommendations for choosing a weapon motor?
You'll want an outrunner with a relatively low KV so you don't need a huge geardown. Hobbyking is where to look, for example the Turnigy SK3 5045 looks about right. Check out at the Fiasco albums here to see how my 12lb bar spinner worked: facebook.com/pg/TeamVelocityCombatRobotics/photos/?tab=albums
That's super helpful, thanks! I was looking at Big Ripto's Inrunner motor (KB 44-74 Brushless Inrunner) (yes, a 30 pound class), but that one was out of stock, except one with a 1130kv rather than a 1500kv, same weight. Some of the hobbyweight vertical spinners are really powerful, like Minor Threat III. Thanks again!
Most inrunners spin way too fast and don't have enough torque to spin a large horizontal bar. You could theoretically do it but you'd need multi-stage gearing and the weight of that would offset the advantage in power. They work great for high-RPM verticals like Big Ripto and Apex though.
Wow ! Mr. Fuzzy , you disgraced Pennsylvania . Glad Megabyte won though , especially after Original Sin and Crash +Burn beat it . Again , thanks for the upload ,Kevin, see you tomorrow and hope to see season 3 with you in it ; you deserve a shot . Good night.
that has gotta be the sickest weapon clash I've ever seen! amazing
I don't really know how drivers are doing with retirement and all but I do remember megabyte being retired
What happened
They un-retired.

Very interesting.
TeamVelocity well don’t you want a weapon that spins that fast? Tombstone took the weapon clean off Gigabyte. Has that ever happened with Megabyre?
gotta go with Megabyte
