Using the PS Vita... 8 years later

- The PlayStation Vita had a lackluster life in terms of sales and overall impact, but it was a really cool, unique and interesting console that had its potential squandered by a lack of games. The PS Vita didn't fail... Sony failed the Vita.

You HAVE to jailbreak your Vita, it's a MUST. Get a SD2VITA and a 256gb card. I never owned one, just got a Vita few weeks ago and since then I've completely forgot and stop playing COD and FIFA20 on my PS4.

I sold a chunk of my ps3 collection to buy maybe 35 40 games, maybe some psp games and stuff and also was buying up gift cards for gamestop i found to knock price down a tad. At the end of the day i paid $275(with gift cards for 299$ bundle version with 8gb. The vita was ahead of it's time to be appreciated. But it's a gem in my books

It died due to neglect, not active murder.

The Vita was such a big part of my childhood. I'll never forget my time with the console. I wish there was a world where the Vita actually had success instead of being backstabbed by Sony.
2019 and I still want this soooo bad. I love the thing so much.
I got one few months ago and it was worth every penny i spend and maybe even more it is an amazing console especially with henkaku mod that lets you play psp and ps1 games and retro emulators
@Tony Stark why do you think that
@Tony Stark i still think it's a good console and it has a lot of rpg's it is enough for me
"Gal Gun: Double Peace" is almost reason enough to own a Vita. :-)
@Tony Stark there is absolutely no risk in hacking the console, you don't need the propiaritary memory card anymore, you can use micro SD.
Other advantages are:
The PS Vita emulation on the Ps1 games is official and build by Sony, it's pretty much perfect; the same goes for Psp emulation. I found it easier to set up that any emulator on a pc and many times more precise.
The hombrew scene is quite amazing, now you can even build a ducking station similar in functionality to the Switch and use a PS4 controller.
A good built of retroarch, remote play, a laaarge catalog of Indie games and more.
Physical control will always trump virtual controls.
I agree
Virtual can't beat physical pad feels
you can buy a similar controller for any phone pretty much, so that isn't really an issue. There are pretty good ones for like 30$.

I still use my original Vita today too! Some people are still blown away on how I can play PS4 games while on the go with this thing.
One of the cool features that many people overlooked with the Vita's remote play with the PS3 & PS4 is that both of those consoles have DNLA connections. So you can connect them to a PC, laptop, or tab.
You can therefore have remote access, through the Vita, to your videos, pics, and music that you have saved on your PC, laptop, or tab!
Cell phones only started doing this about a year ago! The Vita was waaay ahead of it's time. I love this thing!
Man the vita was a beast. It could even run a game as massive as borderlands. That was literally unparalleled power in a such a small machine when it came out

Sony stopped supporting this with games and guess what? It died. Nintendo just release a Switch lite model that literally looks like the Vita lol. The COD Vita game is the biggest seller and the game sucked. If Sony had actually teamed with Activision to actually make COD games as good as Killzone Mercenary then the Vita would have sold millions more. Minecraft also sold millions showing that Vita did have the user base! What a huge miss for Sony

I found one of these at a local game store and as i was about to make the purchase I realized i was going to need storage. I asked the salesperson what memory cards they had available and the prices.
My jaw dropped to the floor, I promptly but politely told the salesperson I was going to have to cancel the sale because i could not justify spending so much on such little storage.
Please make a video for the PSP!✌🏻
I still love, play, and collect for my Vita (OG model -- really should pick up a slim at some point just to have one). Sony botched everything about this system -- from the memory cards to support. And yet, I love it. I often think of it as the Dreamcast of portables - so much unrealized potential.

Great video. I remember getting my Vita 2 weeks earlier than the official US launch because I preordered it through GameStop.

I got a Vita back in late 2017 when a neighbor gave it to me for free because he didn't use it and he had a Switch. Funnily enough, I always mocked the Vita until around a year before getting it. Now I use it almost every day and I love my little Vita, fun fact, I went to Finland back in March thanks to the Erasmus+ Program and I took both my Vita and my New 3DS XL with all my games, I ended up using the Vita more than the 3DS in both home and in traveling around the city of Tampere by bus and I went back to my country on June and in both flights I was playing my Vita for nearly all of the flight, I even caught a Shiny on Pokemon Emerald on the flight to Helsinki!. Also, it's totally worth getting one for Persona 4 Golden and for Homebrew, I really love my little Vita
Are you still able to play regular Vita games after hacking the system?
@@PoweredByLS2 Yup, but if you get the SD2Vita adapter, only digital ones

Can you elaborate please.
@@PoweredByLS2 Ok, so there are two types of SD2Vita adaptors, one whose use is exclusive to the 3G model as it uses that slot for memory but with that you can use both physical and digital games and the one that is more used with uses the game slot for it and, actually, the adaptor has the form factor of a Vita cartridge and because of this, you can only use digital games as your physical port is actually busy handling the internal memory. In fact, the adaptor shown shortly in this video, is precisely the later one.
I hope this is hopeful for you

I have a PS TV so there is no 3G slot, so I would have to use the game cartridge shaped one.....
Got mine 4 weeks ago and the only issue is the black spots that appear when the screen is turning on and when it's just a black screen other than that I love it

Every OLED Vita has that issue . I have 3 OLED Vitas and each one of them has spots or blotches on them when the screen turns black when it’s on, but once it has color they disappear and are not noticeable. Apparently this is because OLED was such a new technology back when the first Vita was invented.
Great video! I pretty much agree with every point you made, it was such a great system but unfortunately Sony just swept it under the rug and also the lack of advertisements gave it barely any exposure. I'd still be using it had the Switch not come out.

I got it used around when I got my PS4 because of remote play. People were always shocked at how good it worked and most had never heard it could do that. And the ones that did know about it, thought you had to be on the same wifi network as your PS4 , which is not the case. it was truly underrated and misunderstood.
I’m picking up a psvita this christmas for p4 golden and a lot of psp games I missed out on
Had my Vita nearly 7 years and i still use it alot, You will enjoy this great system 🎮🎮
I still use my first gen Vita all the time. Mostly for remote play locally while I'm being lazy and laying in bed or whatever. Works well for some games, not so good for others. Works great for say, Fallout 4, not so great for other games like FFXV. Really depends on things like control layout, if custom controls are there, and also the HUD and text size. It has a ton of JRPG games though, and I still have my memory card loaded up with quite a few PS+ games back when PS+ gave you excellent triple A titles every month. I also have quite a few PSone games on it and its really good for going back to those gems.
Also, Persona 4 Golden exists, so I'll keep my Vita until its dead and gone.
I've had mine since 2015 after I lost my original 3ds, loved it, but I only just hacked it this week and its given it a whole new life. Especially considering that even though I've bought a lot of games, so many more are hard to find locally and I had go to Japan to find a bunch more

Look what they managed with that hardware (killzone looks great today). Make no mistake, lack of sales resulted in lack of impetus for AAA game development, not lack of power.
My cousin had one of these when I was little
I tried to steal it

in terms of collecting. do you think its worth picking up new for 130?
Hello, I have been playing my Vita since around 2012 or 2013? I only play MLB The Show. 2015 was the last year is was available on Vita. The 2020 MLB Show looks good for what I like to do. It appears (per your channel) I will need to buy the Nintendo Switch system, and then buy and load up (when it's available) MLB The Show 20. Any thoughts or comments on running MLB The Show 20 on Switch would be appreciated. However I feel you video information has already been a great source.
